  1. Just thought I would add to this thread, no matter how long you have been throwing one it does not hurt to watch a pro....
  2. Yea when I pulled that one into my boat my first thought was that was a Table Rock smallmouth. Just goes to show Beaver is really improving after a couple of high water years and a healthy shad population. I went out with some brooders wanting to look for some stripers but the bass totally distracted me from my mission.
  3. I got around 5pm and wind came up a little so I beat some rocks near PC and came up with this small mouth and a lot of spots. I was using a blue backed fluke on a swimbait hook.
  4. Ryan I can only catch them like that when I am not in a tournament...if I had entered I would have weighed two 12 inch spots and they would have called one a LM and I would have minus 2lbs on the board.
  5. Mike congrats on getting a check !!!
  6. I had two different flicker minnows and a fliker shad out and ran head on to a striper guide pulling shad on planners and balloons at point 10. I swung out and he ran right through the water I had just fished and three rods went down at the same time. Seems those big fish are just being picky right now. It just seems to be the right time with the right bait or nothing.
  7. I really don't buy much at either place, since Cabela's opened I have bought a total of 4 pks of jig heads and 2 spoons from there and one shirt that was on clearance out side the store. The last fishfinder I bought was off Walmart.com. Maybe it is just the fact that Bass Pro is more local and back in the days before the internet it was the bass pro catalog that I would order from even though I always got both. I did stop by and looked for some Z-man stuff the other day and they were out, then stopped by HL&S and they had plenty of what I was looking for and it made me wonder why I even drove over to Cabela's in the first place.
  8. Skipped the live bait this afternoon and went pulling flickers with no luck. I saw those big swirls, wished I would have stoped for some live bait.
  9. My biggest grip with Cabela's are the prices, if you ever catch me in a $50 T-shirt please have me locked away. Bass Pro has shifted to clothing over fishing but not as bad.
  10. Think I fixed it, nothing for sure yet, but I would like to see the Cabela's in Rogers turn into a Bass Pro myself.
  11. Click here This would be very good news IMO if it happens.
  12. I think the question here is how many leds do you need, I have used the floating car lamps for under $10. But now there are 30, 90, 180 leds and you can sink anywhere from $20 to $300 in a light. How much and what color of leds are needed and make a difference.
  13. Just something to get you fired up about lights.
  14. Let's hear some details from the people who went! Who won, why did you loose the big one, ect....
  15. I got one about 12 inches in the cut between the islands on a ned rig Thursday. Seemed to be a few back there feeding on swarms of minnows. There were a lot of fish hanging around that big brush pile in the cut also.
  16. I have not done much of it, but have caught mostly crappie, but striper, walleye and even catfish have hit me under lights. I have always used white, but I see a lot of green glows under boats at night. Almost hit one one night that no other lights and did not identify the green glow with a boat until it was almost too late.
  17. Nice fish, I was wondering if the morning bite was starting. Thanks for sharing.
  18. That would be a good time to leave.....great video.
  19. I had trouble loading pics, they were coming out sideways. What I have learned is you have to turn you phone sideways when you take a picture. I don't know what change on the site, but if you want to post pics then turn your phone.
  20. I was out around the Islands and saw lots of beds and spooked a few bass of their beds, I never have been good at bed fishing. There was no wind so I was trowing a grub and dragging bottom, found the spots in the chunk rock and smallmouth around the pea gravel. Watermelon and green pumpkin seemed to two best colors in the stained green water. With the winds coming up Saturday, I would keep spinner baits, flukes and swim baits handy and look for those wind beaten shores with brush and nothing is too shallow now when the wind starts blowing. Great time for bank beaters. Last night when the wind was blowing out of Ventris the corners at the mouth were on fire and could have culled a couple of times so watch for wind blowing out of creeks and target the area where rough water meets calm. I was throwing a ned rig in watermelon but I am pretty sure a spinner bait would have worked well also, I was dragging bait for stripers and playing with bass to keep from being bored. Good luck, to all the people out there and be safe and courteous. Don't forget the water and take time to hydrate.
  21. I was in the Black and white Nitro in the picture to the left, I got out about 4 and stayed until 8. I was betting the bank around the Islands and trolling around point 10 to Ventris.
  22. Got out around PC today, water temp was around 71 every were I went, lots of little spots and smallmouth and one small striper about 10lbs.
  23. Looks like the weather has changed for Saturday, going to be a good strong wind but with a good trolling motor and strong batteries that should help. I betting everyone sells out of coleslaw spinnerbaits.
  24. 5/0 is the biggest I usually have, they look small on the those big shad but have not missed a fish on them.
  25. One fluke or a Donkey rig?
