  1. Water started getting green around Montne running from Hickory, but I don't want to give location because I was following Dan, it was his spot.
  2. Thanks to Dan putting me on some stripers today, finally got a good one, 26lbs. Thanks Dan for letting me know where they were at and being around to take a pic and weigh that for me.
  3. I have always heard the hole on War Eagle by the Mill called the 50 cent hole.
  4. Maybe we should plow and plant the lake this year instead of fishing it......
  5. Well looks like most of the rain went east, lake is only up one foot. The additional rain and run off should only be about another foot by this weekend. Looks we dodged a bullet on this one. Southern Arkansas and Eastern Arkansas were not so lucky and poor Louisiana is still getting hammered hard. I hope we still see clearing water and warmer water soon, I would love to see blue water in PC area again, this brown water is getting old.
  6. I wonder what this week end will be, looks like warmer, muddier water.
  7. FLASH FLOOD WATCH this morning until THURSDAY night. Here it comes........
  8. Good day, wish I would have gotten out, that water will be mud by the weekend.
  9. The National weather service is predicting the wettest March on record for Arkansas and most of it next week. If we get the 7 inches in the forecast, there goes the draw down and the clear water in the river. As soon as you get a pattern that works the lake takes a total change in just a few days. Anyone want to guess when the flood gates open again? Maybe it can all stay down to the south.......
  10. Did you try a ned rig? The bass in the river would leave that alone, even the blue gills were up shallow. I found the fish in the river around any kind of rocks, seemed to be on craws. I did not get out today and have not been that far up in a while. What color was the water?
  11. All the whites Dan and I ran into were huge (4lbs plus) loaded with eggs, seems the males are not grouping up with them. It is a strange year, the water temp is ready for a run now but it is not happening, so you may be in luck. The stripers are usually schooling together more than they are now, so who knows if there is a "run" it is anybodies guess what will trigger it. I always connect i with pear tree blooming and I have not seen any yet even though my trees have had buds all winter.
  12. What a day, saw Lance and Dan catching fish, the ned rig could not hit the water without a green fish on it. I will post a pic later, sure Lance and Dan will also. Hickory Creek area is a nice green and I could see small fish chasing lures about five feet down 15 feet away from the boat. I didn't get a striper and watched Dan get three, but with about 20 green fish and nice 6lb bass with some whites around 4lbs thrown in, great day. Lots of boats in the river and everyone was nice to each other giving plenty of room.
  13. I will be out, not sure how early. I am planning on putting in at Hickory Creek and running South.
  14. I ran up War Eagle Saturday and talked to several tin boats that ran further than I did and no one found anything but short crappie. I had live threadfin out and did not get anything. Seems they are going up the White. I didn't even find the shad I usually find up War Eagle this time of year, could be warmer water or dirty water but they just aren't schooling as usual, whites or shad. Everyone I have talked to are just scratching their heads. I will be watching this thread..........
  15. You couldn't tell by the schooling, I have not hit a big school this year at all. They seem to be scattered out, one here, two there.
  16. 72 Boats with 5 Bass that was a really good weekend. I wonder how that broke down to the North end and South end of the lake?
  17. You could not have proved Beaver was on fire where I was at...lol Then I was not bass fishing either, could have been a good spinner bait bite or crank bait bite right were I was at and I would have not known it. The biggest bags always come up when that water temp gets back to 50, probably those big females starting to get into pre spawn and with a current I knew there would be people on a good pattern. I just wish someone would tell me where the stripers are.........worst winter for stripers I have seen.
  18. Can anyone bring up the Everett Results for this weekends tournament? I cannot get it to work, I can see the points and know who one but was curious about the winning weights and number of zeros. I am betting there was a large gap, from what I saw in the river if you were not throwing a jig you did not get a bite. I was out later in the afternoon the morning could have been a different story. If you can see the results, please copy and paste a few here.
  19. I went down War eagle and even though the water had more of a green tint than brown visibility was not good. I did find some back pockets with 52 degree water but for the most part it was 48-49. One throw with the cast net got more thread fin then I needed. Drifted around found some small whites , but no big wall of bait or big fish. Really strange year, I just can't locate the stripers or even a good run of whites. Wind was brutal but lasted until after 5pm without a jacket, can't beat that for February. Talked to some crappie fishermen who were catching 9inch crappie but could not find any over 10. I saw a few striper boats but they were are on plane. That cold muddy water is just not very good to me, I will be glad to see it turn blue.
  20. Some 10lb test and a heavier rod and you could have cleaned one fish instead of four.....just saying. Sounds like a nice day, surprised you did't get any whites, again.
  21. Did you get a weight on that one?
  22. GO Get'em BILL !!
  23. To those fishing the Everett tournament be sure to use 8lb test on your best jerk baits, that is a guarantee of a 30lb plus striper this time of year. All that boat traffic in dirty water won't help, but to nice a forecast to stay away. I am betting there will be some really big bags and lots of zeros.
  24. Looks like near 70 degrees and sun this weekend along with dropping water and a good current. Right place at the right time could be the time to pull a Beaver Lake personal best! I will be out all day Saturday come what may.......if there was ever a time to crank those points and the back of creeks it should be Saturday.... I hope the dropping water leaves some of the wood on the shore!
  25. Looks like Generators are running full for the past two days, current draw should make fishing even better, hope I can get down there before the weekend.
