  1. I really wanted to put in at Holiday Island and run to Houseman's then fish back in front of the cold water. I guess that is out of the question for a while? I don't like going back to Houseman's in the fog, but love fishing that cold water line.
  2. I usually go to the tail waters this time of year and put in at Holiday Island then run to Houseman's then fish back to Holiday Island when they generate just keeping to the edge of the cold water where the shad are getting stunned. This year that is not a pattern I can fish, since I can't through Beaver Town and running back to Housman's means I have to run back through the fog, and that is not fun with big logs floating around. As far as the big part of the lake, I gave up on that in July and August years ago. I feel I have an arrangement with the wake boaters, I don't fish in July and August and they don't wake board in February and March.
  3. I really wanted to put in at Holiday Island tomorrow afternoon, is it still up to the bridge?
  4. If you are not trolling, always keep a jigging spoon handy on deck. When you see shad balls and fish under the shad drop on the spoon on them quick. Those shad will move around fast this time of the year but when you see that activity no telling what you will hook. I like to drop shot around deep trees this time of year, but I am sure there will be better fishermen with better tips on here soon.
  5. Yes, I wonder how many years they have opened this many times? None that I can remember, but I have only been here since 2001.
  6. Looking at the level of the tail waters, 926, I am guessing the flood gates are open again. Has anyone seen for themselves?
  7. Here it comes again, this should set a record in the number of times the flood gates open. How much can Table Rock take right now?
  8. Is the boat traffic better on the dirty end? Those big boats from Prairie Creek to the dam are getting rough, I am thinking about chasing bass down in the dirty end if the dirty water is keeping the big boats out.
  9. Still no where to put the water, they will hold it in Beaver until they can pass it all the way through, so get used to a high water summer. A good current come fall turn over would make for a great fall fishing pattern, any way it goes the dog days will just be tough.
  10. I was at Rocky Branch last weekend and the really big boats were out playing. I could not set on a deep point until dark and there was nothing hitting up in the coves besides bluegils. I am not good at night fishing, I need to get on that sunrise bite with this cold front but just could not get going at 4am. Might go try the tail waters tomorrow.
  11. Dog days are here again

  12. They are open
  13. Lots of water, trees and current but with heat and sunshine I beat there are water skiers and wake borders all over the lake this weekend. Looks like this will take a while to pass along to Table Rock.
  14. Looks like I was wrong, with all the generators running they might not have to open the flood gates. Looks like we missed the really heavy rain.
  15. Almost hit a boat in the middle of the lake last week and all the lights he had on were the green glow around his boat. I would have hit the boat if it wasn't for the green glow that I almost saw too late. I was close enough to his boat to talk to him but did not yell out "how is the fishing" but did yell something at him.
  16. It is moving much slower than I thought, looks like it won't be here until tomorrow, but will hang around to Friday. Will be going over the gates for sure but a day latter than I thought. Looks like they are keeping the generation going at least.
  17. Generation is wide open and the lake is still rising and the real rain is coming tomorrow. Gates should be open by noon.
  18. I have caught some big ones drop shotting around the bluff walls in 25-30 feet of water. Not what I was after but the bluff points on the south side of the RT12 bridge seems to hold big blue gills around big boulders and rock slides.
  19. Lake seems to be holding steady with little generation but with thunderstorms predicted all week I am betting on one of those being a 2in gully washer and the gates being opened by Friday. I don't think the streams will handle a 2in rain very well and it all will make it into the lake.
  20. I was checked near Beaver shores at least 4 years ago while fishing a tournament with my wife. They made a big deal because the fire extinguisher was not mounted just lying loose (fixed it that day). But there was a pontoon boat with at least 10 kids jumping off it near me and they didn't even stop by them to count life jackets.
  21. Glad you could wake them up in the morning, I hit Prairie Creek at dusk and I could see a lot of big fish 12 feet down and tons of shad around 30 feet but I could not get anything to feed. Managed two small whites on a spoon, guess they were waiting on dark to get the shad up. I should have made the trip to Rocky Branch, but I didn't know the condition of the ramp. I really think there was too much boat activity in Prairie Creek this weekend that was keeping the fish down, or maybe just not any current going through, but there sure was a lot of shad in the channel.
  22. Needing a break in the rain

  23. Thanks, guess I will wait until after weigh in
  24. Got the boat hooked up, filled up with gas...then checked the radar. Big thunderstorm coming in. Guess I will have to hit it early tomorrow morning.
  25. NOW I am really fired up....Thanks no work getting done all day.
