I was down around horseshoe and about the same results. Water was really off color could not see shad to net so had to throw at flipping shad. Drug two shad all afternoon and no stripper. I did get some bigger spots and large mouth by throwing a ned rig at surfacing fish. Lots of bass boats running around, some wrapped. Found some shad balls but no big wall of shad or active feeding fish. Water temp 58.

I received my free replacement in the mail today, it came Fedex ground with a return shipping label and a toll free number to arrange pick up. The new one had the metal nozzle. Best online deal I have had in awhile. Maybe some Older man can help help J-Doc, those younger guys have trouble with technicality and placing orders online.

2 Days of 20 MPH and above wind, my little boat is not going near the lake until Sunday at day break. Cold front behind the wind so should be plenty of leaves and fresh wood floating Sunday morning. I just hope it doesn't spread mud because I am counting on being able to see in the shallows to find bait. If anyone is getting out keep your life vest on, this wind can blow a grown man off the deck. Good luck getting back on the trailer !!

That is a good question, if I run 4 lines I have two with egg sinkers and two on planner boards with split shot then when I hook up everything gets tangled. With turns I have to pull in the one that is going toward the boat then reset after the turn. Could have something to do with the size of boat, waiting to see responses.

Looks like more than "a few" whites. Great pics love the new fish finder.

It could have come up from the Buffalo River, I have heard that herd is spreading out. I swear I heard one last year while fishing near Hobbs State park but dismissed it as impossible no Elk this far North in Arkansas and now a girl shots one just North of us? How old was that Elk anyway? I have to give that girl credit, knocking down an Elk with a 243 is differently a well placed bullet.

This Dad was taking his 14 year old Daughter deer hunting and I can hear him now "If it has antlers and is brown put it down." Not always the best advice. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2017/11/13/missouri-girl-14-thought-she-shooting-deer/860605001/

Have you thought about drag? I use 40lb braid and have straighten split rings and pulled out hooks on really nice fish due to the drag being too tight on more occasions then I will own up too. I also have busted rod holders and almost lost poles due to snagging trees when the drag was too tight. Then when I have the drag loose and adjust it when fighting a fish I have turned it too tight and lost the fish by pulling out the hook. I did that very thing while talking to Dan when one hit last year and he saw me loose a really nice fish and that hurt worse then loosing one without anyone around.

Owner makes a Mosquito hook that is a little circle hook a little Jframe up to size 5/0 that I really like.

I have to agree and disagree, I once had a butterfly screw come loose on the ground (I don't use those anymore). It started a fire on the engine and the fire extinguisher saved me from loosing all my wiring. Then again the insurance paying for the motor might have been a better choice...

I left the date blank and it went through just fine.

What size are you using, I had the same problem with 1/0 and 2/0, nothing smaller that 3/0 and 4 and larger are better.

I was out today and had only one white trolling and it came out of 120 feet. Save a few small spots on a ned rig to kill the boredom it was a dead day. I don't know what happened to the shad, small balls around but seems most moved out in the main channel and went deep. Someone in the river or up by the dam probably had a totally different day.

Just remember it was never the politicians or the celebrities or even the loved ones back home that effective us the most it was that one role model we chose to follow and helped us the most. Then there was that one young lost forgotten kid that looked up to you, that is where you made the difference because he/she went on to make a difference in another young life. Even though we can't remember the names and have long sense lost track of those individuals you did make a difference and effected a lot of lives. When you share your knowledge and care for others they learn to do the same. Even though you may want to have done it different you were the best the country had to offer at the time and you did your best at the time and it affected more people than you realize. I never realized this until my son became my brother in arms and I realized that he respected the respect I had earned if not the man I was and I gained so much respect for what he became not as my son but as a solider. That is the payoff, the pride you have in the ones that continue on and somewhere there is still a piece of you in there.

Happy Veterans Day; On days like this I think back about my 20 years and people that I knew and one story always comes to mind. It was 1991 right after Desert Storm and I had 75 people moving old ammo off a mountain in Germany. Most of these soldiers were under 25 and just returned from deployment. I was working them 16 hours a day with one hot meal a day in the rain and snow with no breaks for months. The commander assigned me the task of reenlistment interviews since they were all first termers. I had expected a lot of "get lost" and worse but instead I got 100% would diffidently reenlist. All I could do is stare and say why, you have had the worst first term I could imagine. Everyone had the same answer, for the first time in their young lives they felt they had a purpose and were making a difference. So to all the vets out there he is hoping when you left you found your purpose and are making a difference for not having one is the sadist way to live. There are much worse fates then cold, hungry and over worked. That is what those kids on that frozen mountain top taught me that day. Thank you for your Service, Loyalty and setting the example for future generations to follow.

Thanks for the pic, I was out yesterday also but I could't leave all the green fish feeding on top alone long enough to fish for stripers. Beautiful day, running 50 this time of year without a coat was very nice and those green fish were trying to jump into the boat. I saw a few stripers on top, but couldn't get them to hit an A-rig before the bass doubled up on them. Going to have to get out with some live bait and leave the bass rods at home.

The ones I love is when the guy yelling at his wife sends her to back down the trailer knowing full well she has no idea how to back a trailer. These people have expense boats and look to have good jobs, makes me wonder if they manage their people and equipment the same way at work??? I backed a trailer down for a wake boat for a stressed out young lady one day that was very grateful then almost got in a fist fight with the husband when I got to the water. No good deed goes unpunished, but it was a busy day at PC and she was jackknifed across the entire ramp so there were a few nice words when I was walking back to the truck. This why winter is my favorite season, the colder it gets the better group of people you meet on the Lake. I have never seen anyone that didn't know what they were doing putting in when it is 25 degrees at launch.

On something as small as brooders I will use split shot, one for drifting and three for trolling but I troll really slow. If I want to keep a 6inch gizzard down then I use a 1 oz egg sinker. When stripers are feeding there is no wrong answer, just be there, I have seen fish rise 30 feet to hit a top water then miss and throw a spook 10 feet in the air. Then there are days when you have bait at every level and they hit a ned rig and leave the bait alone, IMO it is the boat traffic that scares them into not feeding and I catch bigger fish by finding areas with fewer boats. I also use 20# flouro or tie to 40# braid directly and use saltwater rods to get the fish in fresh and release them since I don't eat fish (I take salmon oil pills). If you can get them up quickly a 15lb striper will dance on top like a 3lb smallmouth and boy is that fun. I have lost too many trophy size fish on 15# flouro and tight drags and just don't take the chance anymore. Good luck, just trust your electronics and keep your eyes peeled for surface activity. Big shad trying to become air breathers is always a good sign.

There is only one pic, you promised "a few". Now give them up!

If you enter the Model number and serial number online they will ship you a new one with free return shipping labels for the old one. The time I was given was 15-20 business days. There is also a "date of Manufacture" block that is not required to be filled in.

Update; I have drivers all over the country reporting that they have been able to walk into Walmart and exchange these over the counter for new fire extinguishers. I have already ordered the four I have here online so I have not been able to test that at our local Walmarts.

First get a cast net and catch the biggest bait you can. Next find the largest school of shad you can find, then put a 6/0 hook threw the nose of the largest shad and add one to three split shots and use your trolling motor and graph to stay on top the shad, if you don't get a stripper move to next big shad ball. Always be looking for birds and washing machine size swirls and always move with the electric motor and you will be an expert in no time. Those fish can move 35 miles a day so one fish can feed at the dam in the morning and Hickory Creek for dinner so yesterday's hot spot is no guarantee unless the shad moved back in and fish know about it.

That man has eye for shad you would not believe, he always gets gizzards. I have seen him run from point 5 to point 12 to get bait and back to point 5 to fish.

We go through this every year, the local news calls the annual dying of the algae "turnover" but the algae dies about the same time the leaves start falling off your oak tree. Just like leaves falling off the tree lake turn over does not make the leaves fall off the tree nor does it make water taste bad it is dying rotting algae that makes the water taste bad. This will go on again next year and the year after because people get their knowledge from the entertainment industry (what the news is business to do, they entertain you not educate). The lake turning over is about where the FISH will be do to where in the LAKE( how deep) they can Breath due to oxygen levels and has nothing to do with your tap water and even though there has to be a lot dead Algae in the water already to run fish out of deeper water the Algae died long before the lake turned over. Lake turn over forces all that dead stuff to the bottom and the water you see and drink will actually be cleaner. This is totally off topic, and once again thanks for the report Dan.

I just wanted to share this with everyone to check your fire extinguisher in your boat, if you got the White Kiddie at Walmart in the the past 10 years chances are it won't work or will explode when you need it. Free replacements from Kiddie if you have one of these. First thing to check if the handle and nozzle are plastic you have a bad one. https://www.cpsc.gov/Recalls/2017/kidde-recalls-fire-extinguishers-with-plastic-handles-due-to-failure-to-discharge-and
