  1. The tail waters are back down to 916 from 930 so it looks like the generation is getting back to normal and we have our high water lake for the summer. I like high water better than low water, so hopefully it settles soon and we have a great summer. All those little bass will enjoy the flooded cover.
  2. I will be out of Prairie Creek tomorrow afternoon also, have to play with the idle for a bit then get some fishing in. How is the ramp there, have they moved the dock?
  3. When they do move into the brush, I like to pull out the frogs. I fish them a little different using a weighted hook keeping them scooting through the mud. I brought this up on a bass fishing web site one time and everyone said that was the wrong way to fish a frog, that I should throw a jig. But watching the frogs on Beaver when they jump into the water they head straight for the silt leaving a black trail,, so that is the way I fish them. They are much better at pulling through brush than jigs and I am not a good flipper so there, that is my tactic for flooded brush.
  4. Just looked at the generation schedule and looks like the flow is slowing down and tail waters are dropping. Does anyone know if they closed the gates, if so the water will start rising again.
  5. Those fish might have escaped from a raccoon, bobcat or even a bald eagle. I have seen eagles pick up 3lb bass then drop them because they were too big to get back into flight. An eagle claw will cause a nasty wound and I have seen eagles get top water fish on a 90 degree day when I thought all the fish were down deep.
  6. I used to see turkeys more than bobcats, but now that I have seen more bobcats I see less turkeys. I think there is a link there, I have even seen a bobcat in the city of Rogers.
  7. 2011 when we got 13 inches of rain in 2 days I saw dirty water going over the dam and mud around Rocky Branch. I also remember all the boards on the Bridge between Beaver town and Holiday Island were gone when they closed the gates. That dirty water lasted for most of the summer and I remember taking the seats down on my bass boat to get under the route 12 bridge for months.
  8. How does look over there after they opened the flood gates? They only open 1/2 foot but sure it changed conditions around the Island.
  9. Looks like Table Rock will get some STRIPERS.
  10. About time, full generation for the past two days would have prevented a lot of damage. But they can't see the rain coming.
  11. The Flood gates should open today, the gates are at 1130 but I have seen it at 1132 before they opened the gates. With the creeks and rivers running so much it always amazes me they cannot generate more to keep it from going over the flood gates but the corps does not control the power grid so the only way they have of controlling the water is to open the gates and wash out their own campsites and structures below the dam. It will not be a pretty site for the bridge going into Holiday Island either. I really hope they wait until tomorrow for the visitors to leave the tailwaters, most of the people that play down there have no idea how dangerous those waters get when they open the gates.
  12. This rainfall will go over the flood gates, look out Holiday Island! Opening the flood gates on a 3 day weekend with so many people who don't pay attention to what is happening is never good. I hope they have closed the campsites below the dam.
  13. I don't know where you are coming from, but as a local if the bite is not on, it is not a far drive to Table Rock. That is what we do around here if we want to fish we head to Beaver if we want to insure we catch we drive over to Table Rock. If you want to be here when the striper fishing is HOT you need to be here when the water is Cold. As far as rising water I never have luck with stripers in Brown water but the largemouth seem to turn on.
  14. Heavy rain last night should give us another foot, so looks like it will top out at 1127, still at 1125.3 this morning but I think the rivers are still full and the run off from last night is good for a foot or two.
  15. It is Wednesday and half an inch to go to hit 1125! More rain on the way, may be 1129 by next week?
  16. Another 5 feet would be great for the young fry.
  17. I am thinking 1125 by wednesday..... It hasn't moved much but the creeks and rivers are full and another 2-3 inches of rain on the way.
  18. Visit each location then mark the spot with your GPS. Sorry just had to say it............
  19. They really take off after the blue gill hatch, I have seen 5 lb bass camp out on trees all day picking off little blue gill that will swim in and out of the trees in schools. I can sit there and watch that all day also.
  20. I am not sure of the date but somewhere around 2004 they started stocking Beaver with 14in walleyes, before that they never would stick. My first walleye on Beaver was a 8lb monster that was probably the breading stock they put in at that time. I remember they had the nursrey pond full of walleye for what seemed like years just to get ready for that first stocking. I would like to see the results from the Sweepco study, how are the bass doing and also wondering about the crappie.
  21. Has anyone opened the stomach on any of those skinny walleye that seem to be all over Beaver?
  22. I have heard rattle traps at night were great for stripers but never tried it myself.
  23. Just checked the pics from the finial weigh in and they were all green fish I could see...
  24. Just checked the FLW web site and looks like you could have dropped your trolling motor in Prairie creek and watched the whole show. All of the fish they were talking about were between RT12 and the back of Prairie Creek. They should thank all the weekend fishing tournaments for putting the fish there for them.
  25. I have hit 8lb largemouths on pencil poppers when I thought I was throwing to stripers, but just don't think about it when I am chasing bass. Funny how my biggest largemouth have been disappointments since I wanted a 30lb striper instead. I need to break out those big top waters more often, I love to drag a big pencil popper behind the boat while moving around, I have seen them get knocked 20 feet into the air, but for some reason it just comes to mind on a calm day or early morning.
