  1. Yeah I was afraid of that. I'm content to try and catch bass all day but figured I'd have to play nice and let him do his thing a while too.
  2. Buddy and I are going out the morning of the 28th. He's going to want to try and fine some crappie...which I don't know a whole lot about. Can anyone tell me if any are being caught down there?
  3. Thanks for all the suggestions! Guess I should have mentioned I wanted it for fishing lighter stuff for bass. I ended up getting an All Star Micro Guide Series. I owned an All Star probably 6 or 7 years ago and remember liking it. Put my Lew's on it and spooled it with 8lb line. Caught a few small ones with it Thursday. Feels really good so far. Heading to Table Rock toomorrow hoping to really test it out.
  4. I'm looking to buy a new rod to pair up with my Lew's spinning reel in the next few days. Needs to be in the $70 to $100 range, which isn't much I know, but it's what I can afford. My baitcasters are on Abu Garcia Veritas rods and I like them, but am open to suggestions. I'm considering the Abu Garcia Veritas and Vendetta, Bass Pro Johnny Morris Carbon Lite (even though I like the idea of buying from a local shop and supporting them), Falcon Bucoo, or any other suggestions you might have. Looking for a 7' or slightly longer rod with foam handles instead of cork. Thanks in advance.
  5. I have never kept a bass out of Springfield Lake...don't plan on it either. I personally just enjoy going out and catching them. If I'm after eating fish there are plenty of other species I'm happy to take home.
  6. plastic worms always treat me good out there.
  7. A good buddy and I decided we were going to figure that lake out last year. It took a lot of work, but we started catching good fish every single outing. Anywhere from the dam area to way up river. There are a few spots that were always producers with fish in the 3-5 range. Big one of the year in there went right at 6. I'll say this about tackle...when we first started I took a huge box with everything I could find. Now my river box is one of the small KVD boxes you can buy at Bass Pro with multiples of the same 4 lures.
  8. Most of the fish came from around 12-18 feet and the banks with a good amount of rocks seemed to do the best for me by far.
  9. I fished out in Kimberling Saturday night. Launched at around 7:00 and had a great night. Caught right at 23 fish with 10 of them being really good solid Largemouths in the 18 1/2 to 21 inch range, 3 Smallmouth keepers with the biggest being 18 inches, and only 1 Kentucky all night, he went about 16 1/2 inches. The rest were all short Smallmouth in the 12 to 14 inch range. The first two fish were caught just before dark on a PB&J creature bait. All the others were on a 3/8 oz PB&J jig with a black and blue pork trailer. I started out with some other baits and colors but could not get a single hit no matter what I threw, as soon as I put on that PB&J bait they hit me right away so I stuck with the same color all night. Had one run were I brought in 5 fish on 5 casts...now that was fun!
  10. I'm not even sure if it is still there but the port of kimberling camp ground used to be a great place to make a day of it. Come in, rent a spot sitting on the water. Then you've got fishing and a table to chill and have some chow if your family is with you. Last I heard the rates were still pretty good for a daytime use. I remember as a kid going in there and catching my fill on bluegill and catfish...even got some decent bass out of that area from the bank. Now even though I am in a boat I still go hit those areas and have been know to pull some good bass out of them still. Give it a try if you are going to be over in that area.
  11. I currently live close to Little Rock but will be back home in Branson Saturday and am going to be fishing on Table Rock for the first time in about two years. I am going to be launching at the Mill Creek ramp. Anyone fishing around this area? What should I be throwing? I won't be hitting the water until about 6 in the evening and will be out pretty late. Just looking for some advice on what area to fish and what to be throwing for evening/night fishing in this area. In the past dark brush hogs on shakey heads have accounted for many full bags going to weigh in with me and coming out on top. Another thing I'm thinking of running a carolina rig lizard...especially at points where soft pea gravel changes to good chunk rock. Also, thinking of throwing a Paca Craw on my shakey head and seeing if it will work as well as the old craw I used to throw. Anything else I should be throwing? Any topwater going on that late in the day?
  12. My quickest was two years ago during a night tournament...about an hour for a five fish limit. Had about 14 lbs
