  1. My wife and I went camping at Long Creek Public Use Area starting 6-17 until 6-22. We had some trouble finding a solid bass bite until dark, then we could get a few on deep banks with jig and craw, black and blue seemed to be the best, but they were few and far between. Since my wife is not a life long fisherman like I am, she got bored easily. I tied her on a chartruese rooster-tail on a light combo and told her to throw it as close to teh bank as she could. To my surprise, she caught about 50 bluegill and pumpkinseeds the first couple hours of fishing. Most were small, but about 20 of them were 7-9 inch eatin size. So the last 4 days of our trip was spent catching fish after fish on light tackle. I don't think I have ever had so much fun catching small fish. On Saturday it came up a cold front, and we boated around 75 fish within an hour between the two of us. We were both using chartuese or various bright colors, and the bite would normally come within the first few feet of reeling. Also, right before the front came in, we saw alot of whites busting shad back in the creeks. My wife was able to catch three nice sows before we got soaked. All fish were released. As far as the bluegills, we began snipping off the barbs of the hooks to make them easier and faster to unhook! So if you have some kids or a wife that is impatient, the bluegill bite was (and probably still is) phenomenal!
