  1. I forgot to check this before I left, but thanks for the info. I used a rooster tail, and a plastic minnow, I caught 3 20" rainbows and 2 15", the best day of fishing in my life. My girlfriend said "i feel like a real fisherman now", she caught a 15" as well. thanks again for the info, that is real nice of yall. have a nice day, Brian
  2. I am a smallmouth fisherman, floating the Current Thursday. I am an artificial lure guy, what should I use to catch some trout? I got a cicada lure, some rooster tails, spinners and crank bait. thanks, Brian who throws them all back.
  3. cool on the 5 year contract, I wouldn't mind getting the next one. beatiful freaking place.
  4. it's 15 miles of Fredericktown
  5. Went to Marble creek Recreastion Area over Mother's day, the water was higher than I have ever seen it in the 5 times I have been there. Maybe that is why I caught an 18" smallie by the shut in's near the bridge, caught one there last year too in a lot lower water. My girl caught two of the same size or bigger the next day by the other shut ins by best swimmng hole in missouri, there are also some excellent creek side camping. I usually don't give my favorite camping spots much less enjoy leaving big fish to get bigger to be caught by people I will never meet. But I hear a rumor that after this year the are closing it. So I am hoping to get some people down there paing the $8 a night fee, on the 30 well wooded, seperated spots, no running water, but the toilets are new and clean. good luck, and you're welcome.
  6. I thought Indian springs was going to be nice until the yahoo's next to us were playing a guitar and singing until 2 am.
  7. I don't want to party, I want to get away from everyone, I like staying at national forest spots, and state parks. There aren't too many places near there, redbluff is fairly close, but nothing else really I have found.
  8. Went this past thursday and floated this section. right off the bat I caught an 18" small mouth. Little later I caught one almost as big, also caught a gar, a couple of other bass and a few sunfish. It was about 95 no clouds, but man are there some nice fishing holes on the 6 miles stretch. Can't wait to go back, though the private campgrounds around there are kind of lame.
  9. Washington State park, is a VERY nice place, and real close to the STL.
  10. above or below the shut ins?
  11. I will also be camping around Jerome for 3 nights, would like to drive to a few conservation areas on the gasconade to do some fishing. Anywhere from Schlicht Spring Access south of Crocker all the way to Paydown Access northest of Vienna. Any votes for these or any between, Gasconade CA or Jerome access? Thanks again, Brian
  12. hi, I am going on the gasconade this week, floating with Boiling spring campground. Anybody ever do trips to their campground; from lay Z day (10 miles)? blue spring(8 miles)? mossy spring (7 miles)? Looking to do more fishing than floating. did 12 on the current a couple weeks ago, distance is no big deal, especially if I catch a giant fish. this is their website http://www.dixoncamping.com/our%20floats.htm thanks, have a nice day Brian
  13. I live in st louis. My girlfriend and I have a goal to float every navigable float that liviries provide in Missouri before we die, in 9 years we have done at least 20 floats. She works at a school, and has summers off. I am a self employed painter, so we try and go camping, fishing and floating during the week. We have a teardrop trailer I pull around with my 4 cyl chevy s-10. I love catching smallmouths, I caught the biggest one I ever caught on the current two Wednesdays ago, just 15 inches, but I'm only 40, and am still learning. I am going on the gasconade this week, floating with Boiling spring campground. Anybody ever do trips to their campground; from lay Z day (10 miles)? blue spring(8 miles)? mossy spring (7 miles)? We like to end our float at the campground, I hate waiting for the bus and the ride back. I mostly use plastic minnows and plastic crawdads and I throw everything back. Not much of a trout fisherman, because I fear I might spend every cent I have on fly rods, gear and spend all my time fishing, maybe once I retire. Have a nice day Brian
