  1. Had a blast on the Big Piney yesterday. We floated from 6x to Ross. We caught a ton of fish between the three of us I would put the number at 100 or above(smallies and goggleye). We fished soft plastics and rebal crawdad crankbaits. We forgot a tape measure or a way to measure the goggleye so we released everything to nervous to keep a 7 inch goggleye I think we had serval over eight though. On the smallies alot of them were between 10 and 14 inches my buddies each did get a nice one wich we thought were between 15 and 17 inches(out of same hole). I would definitly say the Big Piney is a hidden treasure.I just got back from the Jacks Fofrk wich was beautiful but the few difference were ALOT less people, water slower and clear with green stain. I also noticed the smallies on the Fork are fattier and the ones On Big PIney were longer and leaner looking. We all had serval 3 in rows wich was awesome.Looking forward to getting back!
  2. Heading down to the Big Piney with a few buddies on Monday. One of our group is from Cuba, Mo. and says it's his favorite smallie river. I just got back from the Jacks Fork and had a blast. Should I expect the same type of conditions? I used chompers on the JF. We are floating from 6x to Ross. Any tips our suggestions ?
  3. Just retuned from Jacks Fork for 4 days and had a great time with the family> We floated sundy on a raft from Alley to Eminence. It was very crowded didn't get a chance to fish just enjoyed the scenry and water with the kids. Woke up Monday and spent the day at Rocky Falls creek swimming I would put this place up as one of the best swimming holes in the state. It was wonderful floating around on the raft in the water. Tuesday moring finally got up early and did some wade fishing before it got crowded and caught five smallies ranging between 13 and 15 inches.Tuesday afternoon went walking up river and fought the floaters and caught a nice 15 to 18 inch smallie and picked up a few more wed. morning. I caught all them on 1/8 stand up jig head and chompers garlic/watermelon color
  4. Just returned from Eminence and we used Windys and floated from alley to eminence it was crowded but had a great time. As of the post of it being a party river there was alot of people but everyone seemed well behaved and I was not upset thtat i took my kids. We camped below 19 bridge i think must of the partiers will tube from circle b right above hwy 19 bridge so if you do ally to eminence you come to crcle b pretty close to the end of the float
  5. I agree catch and release on the small mouth. Bringing digital camera for the smallies and the filet knife for the goggle eye!!
  6. Saturday can't come soon enough! I had a buddy tell me to pick up some strike king bitsy bugs(brown and orange 1/4 oz) and zoom super chunk jr. in pumpkin. I think I'm up got alot of other soft plastics a few rebel crawdads crankbaits and few small top water . My kids want to have a fish fry is there any certain regulations on goggle eye?
  7. I went to Cabela's yesterday decided on a med graphite rod and open face reel and 8lb vanish line. First time I tried spooling it got that line twist I followed direction and laid spool on floor for spinning reels. I might of reeled to fast I'm thinking. I caught it early at least. If any tips out there let me know? I also picked up some itsy bitsy tubes so thinks for the tip. I got the 1/8 tube jig heads and I also picked up a differnt salted tube bait and some hooks that you texas rig the tubes.
  8. After reading all those post. I'm more CONFUSED!!! Going to buy a cane pole wish me luck!!
  9. thanks for the tip . I will pick some up from bass pro. Im a novice fisherman at best I also plan to float the current river(trout) one day during are stay in eminence. Will my ultra light with 4lb test work on jacks fork(small mouth) or will i need to bring my bass rod with 12lb ttest? Will be taking a raft from alley spings to eminece with kids so plan is pulling over alot let them play and wade and fish. What would be a good float on current to catch some trout and what would the regulations be on keeping them I do have my trout permit.
  10. Sounds like a good trip. We head down for 4 days at end of the month. I just picked up some Arkie soft plastic crawdads hoping to tear up myself!
  11. Is there any walleye in the Jacks Fork? I look forward to try to catch some chain pickerel never caught one and any help what to use. I'm also loooking forward to fishing for some small mouth . I picked up some Rapala crank bait that resembles a crawdad. Still nervous about this horse poop is my wife and kids going to see it floating by at campground in eminence I geuss i do not want to go float below eminene.
  12. I did read about water quality on the jacks fork . Is it ok in eminence? We have floated the huzzah and courtois. I thought we would try something different. We like the water so we hope it will be ok in eminence.
