About Me
I love fishing, the water, the little bugs that crawl around in the water, anything aquatic. To me it's a hidden world that we rarely get to see and few people fully understand. I spent 7 years at SIUC studying Ichthyology. I am a catch and release fisherman, I mash down my barbs (i have a wicked injury story which prompted that),and I carry a mesh trash bag with me and pick up trash I see while fishing. I also think that a pair of hemostats is the most important piece of equipment a fisherman can carry, for many reasons, the least of which is ensuring the fish you hook live to see another day.
I'm on a mission to put my name in the record books, and it will happen. I come from a family of fishermen, my great uncle fished for some years on the professional tournament trail and was quite successful. I owe a lot of my love to fishing to my uncles who not only showed me how to fish, but taught me how to be a good sportsman along the way.
I wade fish quite a bit, but have recently purchased a kayak, and along with my sidekick (whom i also suckered into buying a kayak and is hooked on fishing) have recently expanded my fishing waters greatly. I'm always up for a good fishing trip or a good fishing story. I think luck is for losers and people with no skill and i'm not afraid to tell people that. Fishing to me is 80% understanding the biology and habitat of the fish and 20% putting your presentation in the right place.
