I have an old fiberglass fly rod that need some repair. I would really like to have it stripped down and rebuilt completely..if thats at all possible. The most important thing is that we get this rod fishing again. It is my wife flyrod...her Grandfather gave her this rod when he died. This is the rod she grew up with..fishing countless hours alongside her Grandfather Bert. Its is very special to her and I would like to see it in her hands again on the river. So who can I send it to? Or what should I do...I am in no ways able to take on this project personally. I have attached a few pictures of the rod for observation. Its in generally good shape..I think at one time the tip must have been broke off...other than that its not cracked or anything. Hopefully I can get it in her hand on our aniversary in March. Thanks guys..

Hey I found a picture of the person who cut your line and stole your fishing hole....makes me seriously reconsider my position on flyfishing (not really)....but still. Yes that's Oprah.

Snagging suckers...now I have heard it all. Why would anyone want to do this? Can you eat them? And of course the best sucker snagging is always in blue ribbon trout water.

All in good fun brother

Would you have felt better if i had called it a bobber? It sounds like you have had most of your bad vibes from trout park combat fishing..I have seen it too...precisely why I rarely go to them. Its unfortunate..all I was asking was some suggestions on bobber/indicator depth. Please don't confuse the honest Flyfisherman who just enjoys the rythem, timeing and flow that comes with this choice of tackle..with the guy who just stepped out of the LL Bean catalog and decided to go fishing. A clue that would tip you off is that guy doen't understand you can fly fish without a fly rod, ultralights cast nymph rigs pretty good as well. I promise not to confuse the honest spin fisherman with the bucket hallen, over the limit (those are my kids fish), outlet snaggers. Tackle choice defines nothing...I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly from both sides. I myself fished most of my life with baitcasters and spin gear..loved every minute of it. It just became to HUGE for me..I mean I had like 30 diffrent rods and reels at one time, and more plugs, worms, spinnerbaits, jigs, pigs, stick baits, jerk baits, deep divers, rattleing this and thats than I new what to do with. It just got to much for me personally, I like the simpicity that flyfishing offered and fell in love with it while living in WA while in the Army. I now own 3 rods and I can fit all my tackle in my vest...I don't know I guess it just fits my personality. It just comes down to if you're a good guy or a jerk...If you had snagged my line...I might have cut your jig out to get untangled..but I probaly would have tied it back on while I had it in my hand. Actually I would have left the hole to you before it even happened, if your close enough to cast over me...then we are just too close...you can have the hole. Cheers

Well at least you got out Dano, I hear you though....I used to live off of Fall Creek Road and fished Taney at least 3x a week...I stopped going on weekends all together unless it was cold out. I remember actually going to Taney on fathers day about 7 years ago...got into the parking lot...looked at the water and turned around and went home.

Now what in the world do you have against flyfishing?

Thank Al...I like the idea of useing a palomar knot. I am goin g to have to try that.

Ok..I have read several times that you need to position the indicator aprox. 2X/2.5X longer than the depth of the water. So if I am fishing 5ft of water..I need to have my indicator at 10ft??? What are your guys opinions on this...

Dear Cardiac, I am writing you today to put an end to our relationship. I understand that I got into this thing knowing full well your reputation. Nevertheless, I did think that I could change you. In no ways was our status exclusive..you saw others anglers..I saw other streams...I had hoped however that we would come to the conclusion that we needed each other. I know now that it is impossible...you will never change. You see its been a give and take relationship from the start. I give you my devotion, time,flies...and you take them. Sure you entice me with your good looks and willingness to let me wet my line, but you leave me more often than not with an empty feeling. In short, I am tired of feeling used. I will have you know that I have started a new relationship with a lovely little brook and things are really looking good for us. I am going to start seeing her more and more.... Good luck with all your endevors, Flyflinger PS: Don't call me.

Amen brother..I am one of the lucky ones with days off durring the week. I can't remember the last time I fished on a weekend or holiday. It's just not worth the hassle.

Hey guys..Since its only about a 10 min drive, I fish Blue Springs Creek about 2x a week. I love this little stream, but it is highly technical. For those of you who have never fished it...it is very...very small with gin clear water and trout that will spook at thier own shadow. I am presently using my GLoomis GL3 8.5ft/5wt with great success nymphing the fast choppy water. But I need somthing that is more dlicate for fishing drys in the slicks. I am going to have to be able to roll out a 12ft very light leader to get these fish...I am presently saving for the purchase and looking at the TFO Finnesse series...any suggestions would be great. Also...8.5ft is way to long for this stream...I am looking at somthing between 7'3"-6ft. Thanks..

Valid point. At least the White Ribbon area kind of concentrate the cheese tossers to one area. -

I'd like to know how much it cost the state to keep these White Ribbon areas stocked....I mean total cost. Its intresting to think that my tax dollars are sittting in some dudes freezer. The whole white ribbon, put and take concept is a joke. I would bet that the state would generate 10 times as much tax revenue from fisherman if they would just concentrate on manageing for quality fishing. I admit the idea of keeping fish is lost on me...just don't understand it at all. By the time you catch enough, clean them, wash up, pack and freeze, thaw, and eventually cook...I'll spend the 6 bucks for some Salmon. Now I am not saying that we should have statewide C&R...I can see the lure of keeping one for the camp that night. I just don't see filling you limit everytime you go out. I have a friend that brags to me about his trout fishing powers by saying "I had my limit in the first 15 minutes!" So your whole weekend of trout fishing was done in like 30 minutes? This debate has no end...the extremes in opinions are just to much. Much like liberals and conservatives...they will never see eye to eye. The way I see it there are 2 types of Trout anglers: 1. Grab a bucket, spinning gear and lets toss some cheese. (Trout are ment to be eaten..by me and the more I get in the freezer the more awesome I am) 2. Trout are a valueable/wonderful game fish that should be respected. (Trout are ment to be conserved...by me and the more I see in the water the more awesome I am) Same goes for deer hunting. -
I was down there today the 27th. I couldn't agree with you more..I don't think they stock it at all anymore. In truth I only fished in the park for about 5 minutes...I made a b-line to the red ribbon area. I fished hard from the end of the park to the piles. I managed only 2 sickly looking trout in the entire stretch. I mean I think they might have been the only 2 out there...I didn't even see any others. It was a very disappointiong day. I was so excited with the cooling weather and rain we have had I figured that the red ribbon area would be great fishing. I was so wrong...what the heck is going on down there? All in all it was a very pretty day on the water....I just wish there was some fish to go along with it.
-
Well done...glad to here you let her go.
-
You know I'm going to have to give this a try. I find myself so excited that I put little thought into what I'm doing until I've been fishing for at least 15 min. When I get to the parking area...its usally a race to get geared up and on the water as fast as I can. I'm going to take your advice and slow down.
-
Dano..could you exspand on this? Do you mean to say that you have actually seen people standing in the holes that are holding the fish?

What are the opinions on stream fishing conditions? Obviously if the stream is blown out from massive rain the fish are not going to be biteing. What are ideal conditions? Does weather and barometric pressure play a huge role? I guess I am just trying to figure out these smallmouth...it seems that they hate it when a cold front moves thru. What do you guys look for?
