  1. Rich Welcome. A great place to hang your hat. Dano
  2. I was talking to a friend who has a friend that is a relator in Branson, and she was telling me this older couple bought one of the smaller ones for 550 K. And they don't plan to use it except a few months out of the year. I was floored...Dano
  3. It was a beautiful late afternoon for a trip. Got there about 6:30 as the water was almost down, tied on a gilled zebra midge sz 18 and thought it was going to be the ticket for the fish. I got one good take and lost it. Didn't get another take on the zebra so I switched to an olive scud...nothing. Tied on an olive soft hackle and first bow was an 18 incher with spectacular colors. Using 7x Rio Fluro. Caught another on the soft hackle and then switched over to a small olive wooley with a red head. Caught a few more all good size and fiesty. Left the water a little after 9. Not alot of people tonight, and only saw one shuffler. Looked like everyone else was having a tough time with any numbers of fish, made me feel a little better Dano
  4. I am a big fan of the rods made in Flippin Arkansas. Click on the link. Global Dorber There new ultra weave rods are excellent. I have built rods on these blanks and also have bought them from their factory store. Dano
  5. You can take out at those spots, but I am not sure how safe a vehicle would be. I would consider this option though. The White as you know is very dangerous if there is any generation. I think I would give the resort at Buffalo City a call and check on having them shuttle you upstream to their resort for a take out. You could also leave your vehicle at that resort I am sure for safe keeping. I know they offer this service. Dano
  6. Stellar job Phil...now I hope they heed the word...Dano

    Hello

BWO Welcome, glad you registered. Dano
  8. I understand there is a fishing lure / collectable show coming up in Diamond City, Ark on Bull Shoals sometime this month. I will try to find the details and post them. Dano
  9. John I will have mine in the mail to you tomorrow...Dano
  10. Greg Like JoRob says put the split shot about 6 inches from the fly, tie in a quick overhand knot and that should keep the shot secure especially on light tippet. Dano
  11. Bob Not bad for a week long adventure like this. Sure is something to save your pennies for no doubt. Looks like that is about a 1/4 for what a similar trip to Alaska would be.
  12. I guess the reason I said one extra fly was just for that reason ie, something crushed, and an extra for the swapmeister etc. If I recall the last one I was in, it was one extra. I agree with Phil, we need to come up with a pinned swap guide. Everything so far mentioned should be on it. Toe tags with tying instructions and name (handle) of tyer. A buck or so for postage or stamped return envelope. Adherence to the deadlines. I sure like the idea of posting the pictures and tying recipes of the flys on the forum, it may give impetus to others to join the next one, and also continues the spirit of OAF in sharing informatioin. Just my humble opinion Dano
  13. All of those bugs will work fine..but they have been generating alot of water lately so be careful. Dano
  14. Welcome. You picked a great place. Dano
  15. Man Bob what a trip...dang, dreams can come true uh? Dano
  16. Hey swapmeister John. So we tie 15 or 16 flys. It's always one more than the number of people right? Dano
  17. Fish You have come to a most excellent site...welcome...Dano
  18. Thanks John it will be interesting to hear what they have to say. Dano
  19. Wayne if I recall correctly its at least 22 miles...so its a hard two days for this old Geezer...and I would say if one wanted to stop at some good holes, it 2 and most of a 3rd.... Dano
  20. John, do you think the decline of the sowbug on the White / Nofrok is due to the loss of vegetation and pollutants? Dano
  21. If you are using a digital camera most have a nighttime setting which automatically sets the correct exposure and allows flash. You may check that on your particular camera. I use the red beam on my halogen headlamp when tying on flies. The high beam white for walking in and out. Dano
  22. Kickn I agree, my hats off to Orvis That lady called today and said they couldn't repair my Silver labels, so they are sending a brand new pair today. No charge. Thanks for the help on this. Dano
  23. Michael I have to disagree about the Orvis warranty. Last week I sent my 5 year old leaky Silver Labels to the Orvis Service Center in Virginia. Today I get a call back saying that the stocking feet leaks were irrepairable and they would be sending me a brand new pair today. The Orvis warranty website says their waders have a lifetime warranty and if they can be fixed will charge you 30 bucks for the repairs. Mine could not be fixed, so they are sending me the new ones, no charge. I think that is pretty good service. Dano
  24. Wayne...my experience on that stretch -- two things...bring plenty of water, since there are no places for fresh water...and when you get to the White, if they are running any generation you may need a shuttle from the confluence up river to the Buffalo Resort. They do those shuttles. There is a takeout down stream on the East side of the river, but if they were running a bunch of water then you could miss that takeout real easy. Dano
