  1. MoBass, Steve can give you a better description, but Its where the pavillions are located and I think a cleaning station is also located there and some restrooms. You can fish it down to a little past the bridge. Its also the only place you can wade. I have never found it crowded, even during the put and take season. I wish I could give you a better description. I know Steve will be able to....Dano
  2. Nice fish Brian...Dano
  3. Is the Rusty Zebra Midge tied any different from the standard zebra? What is the thread color and or number for it? Also I have heard of the copper dun midge. Can anyone tell me about this one? Maybe a recipe or picture. Thanks to all Dano
  4. It would be even better if MDC neted those big breeders and put them back in the breeding pond. See that is how much I know. I assumed that was what MDC did during the time between C and R and put and take. I figured some would be left, those maybe not healthy enough for breeding, but sure didn't realize they don't go back and get them.
  5. Steve...I can only dream for one of them. Ryan is going to do well as a fly fisherman. Ole JoRob is teaching him well. I think the sad thing is that most of those hogs will probably be gone shortly after March 1 don't you think. Or will some make it through the catch and take season?
  6. Steve I would say fishing the culverts would almost be a two man job. Get one of them long handled landing nets and try to grab em as they come through....
  7. Rich Glad you liked it and thanks Dano
  8. It was a pleasure to finally meet you today. We stayed until the horn blew. Thanks for those flys. I like the looks of that ginger wollie...is that a size 12? Gonna be a goto there for sure. Catch you again soon. Dano
  9. Steve Do you know if spirit river is selling that coated wire? I couldn't find it on their web site. Did find the V tube that Tippet posted. But apparently Spirit River doesn't list their dealers. Used that fly at Roaring River today successfully. So gents, I was trying to weed through all the posts about the legality.... Are we saying it legal in Mo in all fly waters? But not legal in the one fly areas in Ark? Dano
  10. Thanks John, looking forward to it .... Dano
  11. Nice report and sounds like a great day on the stream... Dano
  12. John I primarily fish a Lt Olive, Pumpkin, Red, Black, Orange and Brown. I mostly tie them in 16 and 18's. Those colors and sizes seem the most effective for me at Taney. You just let me know when you are coming down and I will sure meet up with you. Also here is a neat way to tie on soft hackle in those smaller sizes. Its called a distribution wrap. http://www.troutflies.com/tutorials/nest/13.shtml Dano
  13. JoRob his son and myself braved the cold and icy fly rod guides to fish the last day of C and R. We fished mainly in Section 1 and the pools from the lodge down to the roadway entrance. I thought I was going to be skunked until I tied on one of those 2 hook type v rib san juan worm looking things that tippet turned us onto. They hit it well even in slow water under an indicator. Got my last fish on a crackleback before the horn blew this afternoon. We didn't have the numbers and the crowds were not there but getting out and seeing all the progress at the park was nice. JoRob caught a few on a pt. His son Ryan did manage to hook a brute but broke it off in one of the culverts. Dano
  14. Butts I have to agree in principle with you if you are using conventional tapered knotless leaders...but I for one fish primarily furled or mono poly leaders. I prefer them because I hate leader memory. The best situation for me is a bit of heavy mono as a butt sectioin nail knotted to the flyline, then a loop to loop from leader to tippet. I make the loops very small. This may not work for everyone but I certainly like how the furled and the mono poly leaders turn over my flies. Dano
  15. Welcome Titeline you will learn alot here. Tons of knowledgable people. Dano
  16. JoRob, his son and I are planning on fishing the final day of C and R tomorrow. Any tips on where the big boys and girls are right now? Are they still hitting eggs and San Juan's? Or is something else working too? Dano
  17. Michael Were you using 7/8 wtg rods? Or does it take a little more backbone for those bigguns? Dano
  18. Ollie Thanks Dano
  19. Anyone know what the Roaring River special is? I don't think I have ever seen this fly. Dano
  20. Brian email me please dfsears at alltel dot net
  21. I wonder if the snowflakes hitting the water makes those pea brains think there is this giant hatch happening? Dano
  22. As far as I am concerned this is the definitive work on the White River System and its tailwaters. Steve Wright's Ozark Trout Tales. Google it and you can find lots of new and used copies. Dano
