  1. Sweet...I love it when a kid has a great time fishing. When I was there a couple of weeks ago, I had the sweet spot on the end of the handicap pier in Zone 1 for the opening bell. A 10 year old girl came up with her dad. I insisted that she take it, and her dad was amazed. She ended up pulling in 10 trout in an hour. Do I regret it...hell no. I had a blast talking to her about it in the camp restaurant during the breakfast hour. Jack, for the pics... If you have a Windows machine. Go to the start menu (bottom left), then programs, then accessories, and click on paint. Open your file in paint. Then click Ctrl A or select Edit and Select All. Next go to Image and click on resize or Stretch/Skew. Next, lower the percentage. 30% normally works for me. Then hit save as, rename it. Then post the file.
  2. The book I was reading called for that also.
  3. OB, Your points or valid, but I assume they have been working on this issue for years.
  4. Thanks for joining...post some fishing reports when you can.
  5. Hey Rob, There is no poison ivy from December to February. I'm up for the trip then and looking for guide who excepts soda and snack cakes for payment.
  6. I just read in the June Missouri Conservationist that the MDC has brought in their first batch of wild Elk from the Smoky Mountains. They will be released in a couple of weeks in the Peck Ranch Conservation Area. I realize it may never happen, but the thought of throwing a line in the fall and hear an Elk bugling in the background is just to cool. I would fish a stream just for that. MDC's primary control mechanism will be hunting. I only hunt small game, but I'm sure some of you deer hunters would like to bring down a big bull elk. I am by no means a tree hugger, but to me...this is a cool event and a good day for MO outdoors.
  7. My wife was plugging in a laptop this morning and a lightning strike hit our power pole. She took a hit, but it was minor. Still to close for comfort.
  8. Are you going to have it stuffed...
  9. Found a funny and thought I would share:
  10. I've started to use an indicator leader that I've come to love. I use floatant on the indicator portion, but I was wondering if there is something better. Stupid question from a newbe, but wouldn't a thin coat Vaseline work well? Let me know and thanks in advance.
  11. Thats crazy. They list alternative methods. Fly rod should have its own catagory.
  12. Good thing the hybrid was on a 7 wieght. Thanks for the report. Did you check what the state record was?
  13. That's living on the edge.
  14. I'm free Saturday afternoon or all day Sunday. The forecast is calling for rain on Saturday. If it is just showers (vrs lightning), I would like to go then because the broken water makes fishing for these spooky trout a little easier. Drop me PM if you want to meet down there on either day.
  15. Pete...that's just wrong. Don't misunderstand...it was very funny.
  16. All, My wife is out of town on this summer's "Grand Baby Tour 2011". I thought about checking off another creek from my Blue Ribbon list and trying out Spring Creek. Thought it would be best to try it out while the water was flowing well and save Little Piney for later in the year. Is the upper half or lower half the best place to fish. I would love any advice. Thanks In Advance, Mic
  17. Here, Here. When I explain the experience I describe it an awesomely beautiful hike with a chance to catch a special fish...one that grows only two inches a year.
  18. Thanks for the report even without pics. Where they hitting on the drift, swing, or retrieve?
  19. That is a great idea. Great catch.
  20. Thanks for the input. I was checking out Adventure Outdoors website. If we float from the Spring to their camp, will we get into some small mouth at the end of the run? If yes, I can use my own canoe and just catch a lift back to the car.
  21. I noticed that and wondered the same thing while at Bennett.
  22. Can a person float down the Little Piney in a canoe?
  23. A buddy and I would like to take a float on the Meramec that starts upstream of and ending downstream of the Meramec Spring Branch so that we can fish for trout and smallmouth. Can anyone recommend a float and a service? Thanks In Advance, Mic

    Cape Fair

Sounds reasonable to me. BUT...now that you are on the forum, we will expect weekly Cape Fair fishing reports.
  25. Will do, but I'll have to come a couple times a month for mourning purposes.
