  1. I know of all the individual MDC maps posted on this page and others. However...I am looking for a single statewide map that shows all of the MDC trout areas. I'm not looking for park details, just relationship to each other and I44. Does anyone know of any? Thanks In Advance, Mic
  2. Finally got the pics to load. Can anyone tell me what kind of fish I caught? Enjoy
  3. Your right about the scuds. My 8 year old, was straining with a fish tank net, and it was full of scuds.
  4. Well all, I made it to Blue Springs Creek today for the first time. I had to take my eight year old girl. She had a good time, but I only got a couple of hours on the water. I did catch a fish, but not a bow. Can anyone tell me what it is? I got a really go hit, but it was on my float. I fished both with a spin and fly rod. Everyone was right (both for spin and fly). I think the next time I'll stick just the fly rod. I really loved the creek, and will return. I have a few questions, I'm hoping my posters will answer. 1. When there is no room for a back cast...what do you do? I assume a roll cast. 2. Can you (I think its called) a dead stick the creek...otherwise just following the fly with the rod and with no slack? I should have tried, but I was worried about scaring the fish. 3. Is there a good way to identify dead water? I thought I would be working up a flat and then there would be a hole with small fish in it. I spooked a very nice 12 to 15 trout. Sorry, can't get the pic to upload
  5. Has anyone been to Blue Springs Creek in the last three weeks or so?
  6. Thanks for all the input. Once the kitchen passes are firmed up, a buddy and I will give the creek a try on the 31st. I decided to take both if I can find a seven foot rod before we leave (took the nine footer out this weekend, I don't think it would work well there with my skill). Anyway, I'm very successful at dead drifting/bouncing a San Wan or live worm with the stocked fish on seven foot spinning gear. I'm hoping it will translate to the wild ones. I also figured if I can use a San Wan, I should be able to bounce nymphs behind the bb also. For the first trip, I'm going to try to the San Wan (any suggestions on color), marabous, and scuds. I'm hoping to take the fly rod out in case they are hitting on top. Wish me luck. I also found a technique (out of England) for coming back down stream. You float a minnow lure into a hole (versus casting) and set the line at the top of the hole and let the current take the minnow under...pop the pole a couple of times...let out more line out and repeat. Don't know if it will work, but it sounded better then casting into their line of site. Anyone tried this? If the kitchens passes are approved, I'll post a report. I all found this cool little top 25 list...enjoy and thanks again all. 25 Best Flies.pdf
  7. Gents (and ladies), my first post to this great website. I wish I would have found it earlier. Anyway, I fished Saturday and Sunday and for the first time I hammered them. Caught all of them in zone three across from the swimming pool parking lot on a spin caster, 2lb test, size 14 circle hooks, a single bb shot, and live worm. I was bouncing the worm on the bottom and getting very light hits...some can't be described at hits, more like dead weight. I only caught two of decent size, but everyone I talked to was catching small ones. I did set a new personnel best for the park...I nailed a five inch trout . I also took my eight year old daughter for the first time and she caught four over the weekend. So I hope "hooked" a new fishing partner.
  8. Has anyone used spinning gear for any of the blue ribbon small stream trout? I am learning how to use a fly rod, but I would probably catch more trees then fish. If yes, will you please describe your set up and lures? Thanks In Advance, Mic
  9. Sorry, meant to put in the Bennett Springs Forum.
