because its multiple baits thought we established why I'm against it

I keep seeing the argument that we're against the a-rig because we're scared. That is the lamest argument I have ever heard. This won't change who is at the top of the leader board in fact it is going to seperate the guides and pro's farther from weekenders. They are n bigger schools of fish consistently it shines offshore where you better have the time to practice idle around for days looking at the graph to find the right schools. 20 pounds is gonna feel great until you get to weigh in and figure out its gonna take 28 to win and 22 to cash.

Funny I consider 25ft. and in shallow 25-40 mid depth 40+ deep, been to parts of the country where 8ft is deep.

Alright I will explain 75% payback is of the total enrtries recieved. Lets say the entry is 100$ and there are 100boats 10,000$ is total purse. 75% of that is what the actual payout would be 7500$. The remaining money goes to the tournament organizations 2500 for the cost of putting on the tourney. I don't know how much a reggata permit is. I would think by the time they get a hotel and food they come out alright for 2 hrs of work. I'm not complaining about this but responding to a statement explaining, that we are fishing for our own money. Unless you have a new Nitro,Triton, or Ranger and fish the corresponding circuts then you don't qualify for the money. I must say feather n fins your arguments are making sense to me. Thats something I would not have thought could happen a couple of weeks ago. I'm starting to come around on the a-rig its not as bad as I first thought and not as good as I first thought. I still feel strongly about one lure one rod but if the circuts I fish aren't going to ban it I better get busy with the thing. I will also let you know that I'm a jerkbait guy in the winter and pre spawn and this cuts right into my strength as a competitive angler. Might have something to do with my stance on the rig.

The tournaments most guys fish pay back roughly 75% of the entries recieved, yes there are contingincies from ranger if you own a 2007 or newer boat that was bought new. We fish for the money we put up the only organization that pays pack 100% is omtt. I have no idea about how much money AiA makes a year but I guaranty with the big bass bash they're doing alright. I have always felt that thew sponsorship side of fishing is a joke not about angler talent on the water but how well they work the mouthpeice. You said you were pretty sure god didn't created bass for tournament fishing only. In response i asked if the rig was designed for recreational use. It comes down to one line one rod one lure= sport (basketball) arig=exibition (harlem globetrotters)

Here is another problem with the use of umbrella rigs in competition. In Michigan it is illegal so an angler fishes five bfl tourneys and cannot use the rig. He then qualifies for the regional and this year it is the same regional as the ozark division on barkley and kentucky lake. So now this guy is at a huge disadvantage not having the ability to fish the rig in his home state. For a national circut that crowns a national champion to handicap anglers because of the state they live is completely wrong.
-
Do you think this rig was created for recreational fishermen? It's obvious to me his intent was to sell these things to an ultra competitive field of tournament anglers. Without the tournament hype how many people would even know what the a-rig is? without the success and results how many people would rush out and buy an 8 ft. rod and spool up 80# braid to cast 5 swimbaits at once at Table Rock just for fun? As the weeks pass by it is becoming clearer that these tournament organizations are not about true competition of man v. bass but about their bottom line selling product. For once lets not wait for there to be a study to tell me if the a-rig hurts bass pops. being proactive to eliminate it now before it has the chance to do harm right now our lakes are healthier than i have ever seen. i don't know that it'll negatively affect the bass but if it does and we find that out in hindsight it will be to late.
-
hey Bill was wondering what you think the weights will look like in the everstart coming up? I would think 60#'s of bass in 3 days to get in the top 3. Am I giving the rig to much credit or do you think it will be that dominate.
-
I would figure out were larry gale is and get that boat wet. loz is gonna be starting to get super busy by late april and by memorial day its pretty much weekdays and nighttime is when you can get out. The fishing is good from dam to dam year round and the niangua will be some of the first water to warm.

If being against five lures fished on one line is elitist then thats what I am. In your first post you said you have no problem with the ban I don't understand why now your coming at me with your opinion of who I am. You also compared the guys that are against the a-rig to the occupy wall street protesters. In my opinion that is demeaning others. My points stated here are facts the a-rig is multiple lures fished on a single line, it does represent a ball of bait by using multiple lures, you cannot catch fish on a si or hydrowave. Even feathers and fins who I completely disagree with has made points that I look at and respect. I will have my boat back this week and I am going to start throwing this thing soon I will let everyone know how it goes for me but realize that this being legal in competition is forcing anglers to fish it or not fish at all.
-
I'm not going to be baited into comparing spinnerbaits to the a-rig as I said you can attach 5 spinnerbaits to the thing so it holds no water. Knock yourself out with it I could care less no matter what you try to tell me its fishing 5 baits at once.
-
Randall Tharp is one of the guys to speak out against this thing. I think he's making his point hilarious.
-
Make no mistake about which side I'm on. The petition is to have it banned from major competition and it was not my intention to link it to a question of concern for animal rights groups.that was mearly an observation of the new reality of tournament fishing. When the major circuts show up at Table Rock this thing will be a major factor. 5 lures at once doesn't seem like a sport thats why I signed it.
-
4 spinnerbait blades and one swimbait I can get my mind around. I'm talking about the major circuts so it's already stated that pro's in front co's in back. We all know that team fishing is just that so I don't know what your point is. Do you tie a spinnerbait directly to the line? yes. Could you attach 5 spinnerbaits to the a-rig?yes. now what is it you don't understand about why I'm against it? The a-rig is a way to attach 5 baits to one line thats what I'm against fishing 5 baits at once.
-
If anything the tournaments that allow the a-rig are giving peta bullets for the chamber. The sight of 400 guys heaving around 5 baits will enrage protest from all types of animal cruelty organizations.the petition is started by a pro targeting other pro's and co-anglers in the flw and bass organizations.

the real issue is allowing 5 lures at once there is nothing to get past.I know enough to know what kinda skill is involved in counting down a lure most accomplished fisherman do. I can also find fish. the real issue issue is allowing the representation of a school of bait by throwing five lures at once so no longer does a fish commit to a single lure but a ball of bait thats how the skill is diminished thats taking the sport out of bass fishing.
-
The problem with your argument is your not getting the point, a crankbait with a rattle is just like one without? yes the answer to all above questions is yes because they are all one bait. This isn't technical it's easy count to one = one line tied to one bait , now six the number of line ties on the a-rig 6 line ties = five baits and one to attach five baits to the main line . Is that easy enough? I'm confident thats a fact not up for debate. One crankbait = swimbait=jig=jerkbait-=shakeyhead=texas rig=spinnerbait, one being the common denominator.

Seen this on Dave Lefebre's facebook page this morning. " In a mere two days on erie I caught 83 combos 4 quadruples 49 triples and 30 doubles thats 223 fish on 83 casts unheard of, unatural and unsporting to the max." Dave also started a petition to have the a-rig banned from competition go to his facebook page click on the link ban a-rig.

you mean these baits

I think about being able to fish everyday, everyday.

No Mr. Poss was in Alabama manipulating an umbrella rig into a castable version to imitate a ball of bait. He nailed it,sometimes we get on here and speak our opinions on issues that we disagree on. Time will tell who's side is more accurate. We will know alot more about this thing next month after the Everstart. I love this sport and try to get better all the time. I'm not sure throwing 5 baits is gonna be the way to the top.
-
So something came out and they had to change the rules to one rod to keep the sport in fishing , you've just made my point. Get rid of the a- rig and you still have the swimbait. All they have done is figure a way around that rule.

I said not in Florida not two events in Florida
-
I know fishing isn't rocket surgery or rocket science or brain surgery its as complicated as astrophysics or as simple as 1st grade reading the individual angler has to decide that.

I don't know how the plastic worm and the a-rig are comparable you could put 5 worms on it still an a-rig its nothing new just 5 baits. When your at the pre-tournament meeting for any flw event they play a commercial over the p. a. it say's " flw the worldwide leader in sportfishing conservation." Obviously you don't think that throwing multiple baits is taking away the sport in bass fishing I do. There is nothing that has imitated a ball of bait before maybe a spinnerbait with 4 small willows only one hook though. I've heard your points but this is not an advancement in technology its just a way to throw 5 baits that have already been around for years it's bending the rules thereby comprimising the sportsmanship and conservation that the flw claims to pride itself on. By the way how many tournaments has Kriet won with the help of the hydrowave, zero. The A-rig is two for two in major tournaments not in Florida. The only official tackle sponsor of the Elite series is berkley all other companies only sponsor individual anglers.
