  1. I note that Cabela's also has them on sale but their shipping is very high-like $13 for one reel. Does anyone else have them on sale. I'm looking for the small reel and Bluegill is out of that size. Dave
  2. I think Phil said recently that what they are posting is not what is actually happening as far as generation goes. Dave
  3. On the generation tables-is hour 1 1:00 AM and thus hour 12 is noon? Thanks, Dave
  4. Well, it got a little off topic but I did get the answer I was looking for. I suspected it didn't amount to much .
  5. There was an ad in today's St Louis paper for a Professor Higbee Stream and Lake Map of numerous lakes and streams in Missouri. Kind of priceyat $28 for a 3.5 by 4.25 map. Anybody have any experience of it? Claims to show over 5000 miles of fishing streams. Dave
  6. Fenwick made pretty good blanks. I suggest you check out the site rodbuilders.org. I'm sure you could sell them there and at a better price than Craig's List. There are professional and amateur builders on that site. Dave
  7. Might check with Ron or Mary at South Fork Resort also. They also have a good blog on their web site for fishing and lake conditions. Dave
  8. Wrench, You were spot on. I took the top off and one of the slide-on connectors was off. I slid it back on and it works fine. It took more time to find the screw I dropped than it did to fix it. I owe you a cold one. Thanks, Dave
  9. I am having a problem with my Motor Guide trolling motor so thought I would seek some thoughts here before I "tear into it". It will run fine on the three higher forward speeds but will not run on the low forward speed or any of the reverse speeds. It is a nine year old transom mount motor that I changed so I could mount it to the bow. I did that when I bought it nine years ago and it has always run fine. It appears to be a switch problem. On the low forward speed I can twitch the handle and get it run for a second or two but then stop. On the faster forward speeds it will run fine. Anybody have any thoughts as to the problem or how to fix it? Is there any place in the central Missouri area that works on them? Thanks, Dave
  10. Yea, I've not heard or seen anything since. May have been a hoax, but it was a picture of a heck of a crappie.
  11. My wife saw a post on Facebook today where some guy caught a new Mo state record crappie. Don't recall the exact weight but it was 5 lbs.+. Had a small picture of it and it looked huge. Dave
  12. I'm wanting to get a new trailer for my jon boat. It's a 14 foot boat thats 60 inches across at the top and 49 inches across on the bottom. I've looked at Bass Pro's trailer but really don't want to shell out $650 plus tax. Does anyone know of any places around the mid MO area where a decent trailer could be obtained that would beat the Bass Pro one in price and/ or quality? I know there are several places in the Lebanon area that make boat trailers but not sure if they sell to the public. Thanks, Dave
  13. I picked up the marine starting battery which has 650 cca. They also have the marine trolling motor on sale for around $10 more as I recall. I wasn't interested in it so didn't get the specs on it. It was much larger and heavier. Dave
  14. I've had more luck with the 16's and 18's also. Easier to tie too. Dave
  15. Ad doesn't say, but the picture appears to say 650 amps-it's hard to read). The price is $54.99 but you get a mail in $10 rebate good only on use at Menards-but they sell everything under the sun, so no problem there. I bet Wrench is right and they make the Wally world batteries also.
  16. Anybody have any experience with Exide Marine Batteries? Menards currently have them on sale for $45 and they carry a one year guarantee. Suppose to me made in Kansas. Dave

    Ouch

Thank God he wasn't facing the other way.

I thought Al summed it up well. All in all, a great year with an exciting team to watch. Who would have guessed they would finish the regular season ranked #3 in the nation. I remember my years at Mizzou in the mid sixties when you could get a ticket to a game at the last minute for a dollar and the place was darned near empty. You would also darn near freeze to death in old Brewer Field House. Dave
  19. Might also check to see if it is still coupled onto the guage itself. Mine use to slip off over the winter for some reason and I would have to crawl under the dash with a flashlight and stick the tube back onto the back of the guage. Dave
  20. Hopefully I can make it down by then. Right now I'm tied up through March with trips to Columbia for radiation treatments for prostate cancer. I was diagnosed with it about 18 months ago and had it taken out 15 months ago but they didn't get it all. I've got 37 more treatments to go. Just hoping that gets whats remaining. Tell Gaithel hello for me. Dave
  21. That's an interesting looking fly Wrench. Did you form it by braiding several strands of leg material to get the body? Dave
  22. Let us know what you think of it. Was thinking of getting one too. Dave
  23. Might want to add a Renagade to the box. I've had good luck with them. Dave
  24. "It's illegal to have a beer, or a flask of whiskey, or so much as a wine cooler at Bennett Spring. " Is that still the rule in the park? I know it used to be, but so many people ignored it I think they either rescinded the rule or simply chose to not enforce it. They used to have signs all along the parking areas saying " no alcohol", but those signs have been taken down.
  25. Well, I'll throw in a picture of mine. It's in the corrner of the basement. More stuff then I'll ever need, but seems like I can't resist adding to it. Dave
