  1. My kids keep Nemo in ours, a battery operated model. I've thrown every fly in my box but I just can't get a rise out of him, every once in a while he swims by and passes on my offering.
  2. Must be moving in a northeasterly pattern, yesterday I was watering my yard and hatch of little mosquitos came up, about a size 18 or 20, swarmin all over the place. Didn't see any rises, but then again the only pool I have is the 18" deep kiddie swimmer.
  3. I've tied somthing similar in the past. Just as you describe, but when you tie the marbour tail in, tie it in like a hairwing so that it is separated into two tufts. Then dub or whatever for the body, tie in the antenae or not, and your done.
  4. That is a whopper of a fish. I caught striper out of Texoma in '06 that was 18ibs but he was a baby compared to that monster. Nice job!
  5. I've seen the same thing here in Oklahoma. I saw a guy leave with a stringer, only to show back up a few hours later for his late afternoon limit.
  6. Looks like a good choice, and sounds like you like it as well.
  7. Congrats on the newest member of your family. Good luck finding a trout with those diminsions, it would be wider than it's length.
  8. OkieFF53 - thanks, how is the fishing down there?
  9. I'm guessing Leonard has a squirrel looking streamer that he either strips across or floats dead drift.
  10. I went last Friday and hooked around 20, landed a bakers dozen. 2 were on an orange crackleback, the rest were on ginger G bugs or tan soft hackles. Nothing caught on olive or black which have been producers in the past. I started out in the Horseshoe hole, then worked my way downstream past the fallen tree, then the horn blew. Where is the Old Watts place? Is there any access south of the turnoff to the dam?
  11. Terry, on my drive through Gore today, they got a sign that says, "Trout capital of Oklahoma" Zach - caught alot of smaller fish today, 6-8 inches. In the past the usual size has been 9-12, any reason? Still had a fair amount of larger with the biggest going 16". G-bug was good today, a ginger one size's 26 to 20. Also soft hackles did fairly well, and even caught a pair on a crackleback. I tried the crackleback after one took off with my palsa float. Pictures and story to come in another thread...... Funny thing today. I'm in the lower parking area and notice an RV with Oregon plates. The first question, why would you come to Oklahoma from Oregon to set up camp alongside the Illinois. Even funnier, a guy fishing, and I'm not kidding, in a head to toe neoprene wet suit with a cowboy hat.
  12. I hope the guys OK. On another note, anyone get any pics?
  13. Zach, I'm in Oklahoma too. Order some online, and then when you're in Branson or close by, go see him, heckuva nice guy. I'm planning on making the 2+ hour dirve to Gore tomorrow to get some therapy with trouts.
  14. I like closeups so that you can see the trout smile
  15. Very nice Leonard!
  16. Go see the shop, Brett is a super nice guy. Buy some, or at least the matierals to tie it.
  17. It ain't the size, shape or color stick you wave, its how you use it. If you catch fish, then more power to ya! There are some members who have been known to slow strip mink from time to time. It makes me hope my grandmother remembers me in her will and gives me here stole, it would some quality tying material
  18. Great story, and am happy to hear you got your plug back. I lost a topwater plug that my great granfather gave me many years ago. Although it has been at least 15 years since I lost it, I still remember the agony of not only the fish getting away, but with my plug. The lure of it all is that I can't remember the scratches or dings, but that it was as shiny and smooth as a new one. Unfortunately I haven't been able to locate a suitable replacement, and since I fish fly's almost exclusively now, it would have looked great in a case on the wall.
  19. I guess it got stirred up earlier? Leonard, site looks great, best of luck and I am looking forward to seeing some of the patterns as a non local I am left to wonder about from the descriptions of others.
  20. nice football
  21. What were the odds on the fisher's? Was there an over/under? What about the line ofn the squid, surely someone had it at 10 to 1 to make an appearance. That was too funny, great stoy Terry.
  22. I went from the Griffin Odyssey Spider Vise ($80) to the Renzetti traveler ($165), then back to the Griffin. For the $ the Griffin is a great choice. Just my opinion and I'm sure that others will have theirs, and that's ok, that's why there is a choice.
  23. I'm planning on being there on 7/13. Depending on generation I may be there in the morning, I'm hoping they'll hold off and I can stay through the evening and fish till sunset. This is when I typically see more browns.
  24. No clue on the new drive. Congrats on the fishing though. I have pulled out maybe 5 browns, in my last dozen trips to the Illinois, not a one bigger than 12". Last time up I did manage tow nice bows both around 18".
