hey web... here is a link... even though you found some instuctions.. this may help to.. http://www.flyanglersonline.com/flytying/i...te/archive.html the head looks good... but I probably would have added another small bunch of deer hair... the next one you do, do the same way... but before you trim the hair.. kinda pull it back toward the rear of the hook and you'll see a small place thats where to add the next bunch of hair. Also.. I cant really make out the body but it looks like palmered marabou.. if so leave a wrap or too off to get alittle bit of a tighter head and have a little for the whip finish... hope this helps Leonard

well shoot... If someone is bringing seahorses... I'll be there too Leonard

Jim said this... "Based on watching Leonard's technique during the day (which is a total of three times), it appears his main technique is to fish the head of whichever chute he's fishing with his streamer. The times I've seen him fish, he'll have about 6'-10' of line out the end of his flyrod, spot the fish and stick his fly right in front of their face. While this is not immoral or illegal (if you don't foul hook a fish on purpose), it's my opinion, it is a misleading fishing report when he states he's caught a bunch of big fish and then does not provide the technique he's used, especially, when it does not involve casting the fly in a manner typical of a flyfisherman. Fishing the chute in this manner does not require much talent as a flyfisherman. While it may produce big fish, I think, it is not a sporting way to fish. I enjoy reading reports on this forum which provide accurate information about catching fish on Taney (and other places) and not those that self promote. It seems to me, a predominant number of Leonard's reports are about self promoting himself and in turn his guide business...secret this and secret that... It seems, the other guides who post reports on OA do not keep secrets (or if they do keep secrets it's understandable). Their reports provide the average Joe good information if they were to fish that particular stretch of water, Table Rock, Taney, etc. The secretness of some of Leonard's posts kind of smacks me like he's trying to hide something and / or he's wanting to promote himself. Self promoters bother me, especially those whose practices may be viewed as suspect (at least by me... I don't know what you guys think)." Now... finally... There is alot of people on this board... alot of them knows most of the time I sight fish during the day.. I not that fond of using a size 18 midge, scud, soft hackle... what ever this is the fish I caught out of outlet 1... see the big black thing in his face... that is a 5 in strip leech... here is a picture of the big flies I throw... on 6 or 8lbs line during the day now who would have guessed I was using 8lbs Mono.... as for as fishing the chutes... there is alot more people on this site who does.. as for as guide.. Im sure there is one or 2 that does because there are "easy" too catch.. See the guy in the tan hat between those 2 buys.... thats Chuck from Anglers and Archery The World record brown caught by Brad Wright on 2lb line was caught out of chute 1.... as for as self promoting my guide service...I have only taking 2 people out on this site. the rest has been from "word of mouth!!" thats out of 58 trips since the first of the year..

Thanks Michael and phil for the suggestion on the camera... But I really hate to say this... with the baby less then 50 days away (maybe sooner.. that right guys.. baby due mid Oct)..... the camera may take awhile... Leonard...

I know I'll catch crap for this... but This is how I figured the weight... estamited: the fish is probably 23in long. (maybe longer) (it was wider the the thickest part of the net) so.. I figured 8.5 x 8.5.. 17in.. I add 2in for the width of the back so I can up with 23in fish with a 19in girth.... (this is probably not that accuate) I beleive this is the formula: LxWxL (divide) 800... which is 12.56lbs... Like I said.. this is just by the measurement from the net... I didnt have my tape last night.. thats why I used the net..

Next time... I'll call you at 3am and let you know I caught a big'un.. to bring your camera.. when you get there I'll have a have a creek chub ready for you..

ok..... here is the biggest bow Ive "EVER" caught at night.... (the dip net is 21 inches long.. and 8 1/2inches wide)... (thanks Pam for lightening the picture up) you guessed it... the PMS!!! more details when I wake up.. the report... I got to the water about 9pm. As I pulled Rick was there and we started talking as I was getting ready.. We made our way up the the flats between outlet 1 & 2... I caught a few (maybe 3) on a mohawk sculpin.. well I headed back down stream.. and run back into Rick.. Well I decided what the hey... I fished a indicator and scuds at outlet and caught 4 or 5 fish there... I really didnt fell that great last night.. and didnt feel like roaming all over the place.. after awhile of fishing outlet 2.. I was getting ready to head home... I decided to go back up to 1 to see what was happening.. well I was standing up by 1... cast out and had a short strike.. next cast was down stream.. nothing... third.. cast up toward the dam.. across the chute.. as it drifted out... BAM!!.. there she was...... over all last night I probably caught a total of 10 fish...
-
I also hit the water this am... I got there about 10am and stayed for maybe an hour caught 3 night bows and a little brown on a white/gray bunny leech... Got to meet Larry... nice met you.. hope to see again soon...

sink rate... I count how fast it sinks.. If it can touch the bottom by the count of 7 in 4 foot of water.. then when Im fishing in the current I need to judge how for to throw it up stream to get how deep I need to fish it... if there is not current.. then that tells me how deep or close to the bottom that it is ... depending on where Im fishing... as for the 4 people in the chute that day... your right... also if I remember right the day we are talking about 2 of those guy went up to the cable area waded out there with a guide... right... I was standing up in the chute... with 1 guy on one side of me and the other one on the other... also 1 guy standing in there that wasnt fishing (it was the 2 boys dad).. and yes the dad took a picture of the fish.. because I didnt take my camera.. he said he was going to e-mail it to me and hasnt yet.. But the when the other 2 guys came down with their guide... I stepped out of the way and headed down stream...

when you seen me fishing the chutes... how many other people are there?? I fish the chutes if there is barely anyone there or high water.. we all know that alot of fisherman heads for the chuts first thing.. the reason are the fish are "easy pickings"... But 1 thing you probably dont see me do is fish a scud in the chute (during the day)... If the water is high at night I will fish a scud... want to know what Im doing... Im watching the reaction to the fish to flies... Like this strip leech Ive been using.. I know what it is doing in the water at night when Im using it. By watching the fishes reaction in the day I can almost pinpoint when the strike will happen when Im using it at night... ------(edit here..I shouldnt have said it like that...This is what I meant to say.. By fishing the shallow waters I can tell what the fly is doing, Therefore also being aware of the strip that draws the most attention)----- just like all the flies I use.. after tying them I take them to the water and watch them.. over a period of about 5 - 7 days if I have caught a fish on that fly.. it comes out of the box and I reuse the hook... now... you want to here a secret... over the past 2 years since Ive started tying midges (and I tye alot of them).. Ive only caught 1 fish on a midge.. guys can go down all day long and have a 50+fish day.. I cant catch a fish on... so therefore I use the big flies... most all the flies I use day or night is a size 12 or bigger... Jim the next time you catch me down there.. Id be happy to show you these flies I use.. shoot... id even walk the back with you and throw a "BIG" sculpin (about 5in long)... Leonard

this all started a few months ago when I started tying this fly... and caught a couple 20in browns on it... then low and behold on the of a seminar that was held on the lake... I guided a gentleman that night where we landed a 25in rainbow... since hardly anyone believe it... I decided not to share the pattern... heres a reminder!! http://ozarkanglers.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7292 all it really is an leech imatation... pine squirrel with a marabou tail... the same freaking pattern as a bunny leech with a marabou... the PMS>>> here is the picture... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v732/LeonardK73/PMS.jpg as for a the name PMS... Pine (squirrel) Marabou Streamer... All this BS about SERCRET is NON-SENSE.... Im sure there is alot more of us out with secrets.. that noone knows are even wants to hear... Terry, Dano, and I was fishing one and on the back of Terry's truck I tied a few flies... we talked about what would happen if we added a marabou tail to the pine squirrel... WELL HOT Dang.... IT WORKED... we tied a pine squirrel on a jig ... and called it a tailgater... because we tied it on the tail gate of a truck... heres another little secret... IT WORKS TOO!!! (when fished in high water under an indicator) day or night.. before I start bragging about catch a fish on a fly and telling everyone it works... I really like to try it all conditions... sometime it works and some it doesnt... as for as the PMS... everytime I had ever used it but once has been on 2 units of water... and it produced big fish...

I was using a 5-6in strip leech... on 8lb maxima mono.... how big am I... just over 6 foot... average!!
-
Hey Jim... I never remember say that to anyone... what I did say was probably... "The next time you fish taney at night give me a shout.. I'd be happy to show you around and do alittle fishing with you"... One thing I dont do is "PUSH" the night fishing during the day... if someone inquires about fishing at night I talk to them and offer them a card... I know of 2 Jim Murphy's... one I meet in the parking lot coming off the water.. The other I meet at the State Park last spring (early summer)... Im guessing your the one I met in the parking lot... either way.. it WAS NOT a ploy to get business from you just an offer to fish with you.. Leonard

Phil... I am getting a chuckle out of it.. yes.. I told a dozen or so people... I even explained to them why it was so "productive"... NO... NOBODY has ever call and said they want to book a trip to find out what 1 fly is... and knowbody " I " have take out fishing has ask what it was .. I have always willing give it to them... Leonard. I can think of 9 maybe 10 guys from this board that knows it and have used it... 8 more has seen and used it (not from this board)... and I have even sent a 1/2 dozen to Deleware... and to Texas....
-
SECRET??? this really doesnt matter... If half of you know what I know... you'd keep secrets to... as for as the fly.. Im still not tell.. as for as it being a secret.. Its not... there is at least 12-15 guys who knows about...
-
I'll tell you what... If you dont believe me... that fine... I really dont care.. If you really want to know... for the past 2 days Ive been there, there has been 2 older gentleman 1 sits in a chair most of the time.. ASK HIM!! the other stands across the outlet from him... ASK HIM TOO!!.... they have been there Monday and tuesday morning from about ?? till 11am-or so... so if anyone want to go there and ask about monday morning FELL FREE!!

IK... well for 1.. with 2 units going I was fishing the outlet... when they generator those fish moves in and out of the outlets... 2.. weekends are hard on the fish... fisherman everywhere... day and night.. Ive kinda stopped fishing saturday and sunday nights... because of everyone on the water those nights... 3... most of the time the bigger fish I do see has been just after the weekends.,... I think this is to do with all the people on the water over the weekend... today there was only about 4-6 people at outlet 1 fishing... I think thats really good considering Ive it at least 15 people in there at one time...
-
at 8am I got to the dam with 2 units going... so to outlet 1 I went... between 8 and 11am.... 9 fish was caught and brought to hand..... smallest was a 17in brown... and the biggest was a 24in bow... that was the only I caught.. rest ALL BROWNS!!... most were right at 20-21 inches... right in the 2-5 lbs range... not high number.. but a fun day to hook some really nice fish.... Leonard

troutenhausen... pacticing .. yes that what im dong... or at least tell my wife.. this "special" fly is not a secret... A guy I chat with alot in Canada told me about this fly... the only thing we did different was put it on a striaght eye streamer hook... http://www.flyfishingconnection.com/patter...Habeeb+Special/ as for as new flies go.. I have guys sending me flies all the time.. and I try them.. If they work and I use them again.. if they produce no-stop 4-5 time then I start talking about them... like this special fly... this was the first time it hit the water and wont be the last... I still have 3 flies that needs to see the water before the brown come in.. which isnt gonna be to long.... Leonard

Got to the dam about 9pm... high water 3 units (maybe 4) I rigged up a glow indicator with a midge (new color that Ive been working with) and a roo scud dropper.... the midge brought in to hand 8 fish... the roo did better.. alot better... 20+ fish.. 2 of the were 18-19in bow... Lost (Broke off) the roo.. and then decided to try a G-Bug (purple and wine)... wow.. GREAT Fly (thanks Brett)... caught 6 on it.. 1 was 17-18in bow then I meet up with Dave and we all ended up at outlet 1... and the water started to drop... I switched over to.... you guessed it... the PMS... which caught 8 more.. 3 of those rainbow were in the 18-19in range also... Very good night for some really nice fish and hanging out with some great guy... It was great fishing with you Dave and Darrel... Enjoy you visit.. and catch a bunch more!! Leonard
