here is an update on the weather (weather.com) for New Years Day... partly cloudy and 43 Leonard

Below the dam... Lots of midges coming off the water... I didnt see many people catching fish today.. but I catch 3 in 30 minutes.. using a white leech.. sight fishing the water is really stained up by the dam.. I was thinking of try to get out tonight.. but I havent done that good at night in stained water.. Leonard

I have 2 rods I use for rapala fishing (jigs,sculpins,ext) 1 I have 6lb maxima on the other is 8lb maxima (I use this at night) if the fish are hungry the line doesnt matter!!

It looks like we all are going to have a good time.. I think one thing we maybe overlooking... any volunteers to bring softdrinks?? I bring a couple 12 packs (only soda I drink is diet pepsi or Mountian dew) and a 12 pack of bottled water... Leonard

damselfly.. If im not mistake my grandmother use to eat hers like that.. but she would put in a can of chopped chili peppers and cheese... and add the tabasco for taste If I was to eat grits that would probably the only way I would!!

not all fish move to the dam to spawn... but alot of them do.. The brown is just starting to finish up.. there are still a few nice browns up but no massive browns... Now the rainbows are moving in.. I think the bow come in after the brown to eat up the left over egg and chase the small fries.. the bows should spawn for about now till about mid Jan.. maybe early Feb.. as far as shuting it down... maybe years from now.. but I dont see them doing any time soon..

the guantlet is the area below the rebar down to the big hole... On the maps you were looking at.. its called the "STRETCH"

Dave.. Dave you can just about spin fish anywhere down there... only thing that really make a difference is.. How wet you want to get.. what you are going to be using.. where to use it at.. give me a shout.. I may end up going fishing in the morning... I'll be fishiing from the bank.. I hit the about 9:30pm Started just below chute 2 and work my way to the gauntlet... at first it seem to be really slow (below 2).. I started with a white woolly and they kept hitting it just never got a solid hook up.. walking to the rebar same thing.. lots of hit no fish to hand.. well I made my way to the rock at the head of the guanlet.. by this time it was almost 11pm.. first cast was a 17 in bow.. from there to the big hole still using a white woolly.. in a hour and half caught over 40+ fish on the white woolly .. 3 of those were browns and the rest were bow.. 1 brown was pushing 19in that was the biggest of the night I decided to head home about 12:30...

for the early guys.... lets try to meet up for coffee around 8-8:30... Im not sure who all can bring coffee.. so If you have a thermos bring some coffee (or tea... LOL) Lets start lunch about 12 (noon)... sound like a great time .. as far as the seahorses... MAN.. sounds good.. but well see... I may bring a bag a chips.. to go with the hot dogs and burgers... Flysmallie... I fished for 2 years the same way... and the hole on the same spot... This is how I learned the deep holes fishing at night... 20degree weather... and crotch deep water.. you learn quickly!!!

Hey Al.. Good to see you.. No I havent used the 7wt.. dont have to reel for it... the 8wt reel didnt fit.. shoot the reel doesnt even fit my 8wt either (so I looking at some new ones) As for as the bug.. yes Ive use it a few time.. and caught a few fish on it.. well I caught so many on it one day.. I had to bring it home and add alittle super glue to it.. hasnt tore up on me since.. Give me a shout your next time through.. Leonard

I have 2 flies I use the most at night.. 1. is the white woolly 2. pine squirrel sculpin other then these 2 I have 8 boxes of flies that work when these 2 dont.. the trick is finding the right one Leonard the pattern for the pine squirrel is listed on the board
