  1. http://mdc.mo.gov/conmag/2006/02/50.htm Hickory Creek from the Highway 86 bridge to its confluence with Shoal Creek in Newton County will now be a White Ribbon Trout Area, which provides more opportunities for catching trout and the occasional chance to harvest a large trout. During the catch-and-release trout season, from Nov. 1 through the last day in February, only artificial lures and flies may be used to reduce hooking mortality.
  2. From the MDC website.. A state record... and its big!! http://mdc.mo.gov/cgi-bin/news/news_search...137780344,50390,
  3. KRFlyfisher.. Any of those months is a good time to fish.. what kind of fishing will you be doing.. spinning or fly?? Mid-Feb though mid March the big rainbows start to spawn.. But with this mild winter and hardly no generation.. this year I really dont know what to expect..
  4. Phil.. This is great.. I love what your doing to the website.. Every few days when I open up the forum.. it takes me a minute or two to try to find what you have moved or the pictures (fronts) that you have changed.. or just giving it new look I thought that you took this (General Discussion) out yesterday.. then the next time I logged in.. I saw where you had moved it to the top... Thats Great!! Keep up the fantasic work... Im sure I speak for alot of us when I say.. "Thanks Phil awsome job with the forum!!"

WOW, OUCH, HOLY SMOLY "sailor talk *&^%*"... that the only time I remember its gone... THAT HURTS!!

    Hello

Welcome to OA Don I hope you enjoy the fishing here.. Like the rest of us do
  8. I think if the TU chapter fired back up.. It would bring in alot more people.. But Im wondering what will the dues be?? Dont you pay an annual due for Tu?? Also if the FFF and Tu united.. Would the dues be more.. Then comes to the point.. if we started up some tying clubs.. how many could we have in one area.. I mean if we had 100 people from this site that wanted to be in a tying club.. where could we get them all in at, at one time?? So if we had like 3 or 4 different clubs in the area and got together a few times a year for one big tying session wouldnt that be as fun to??? And who would set the the club dues??? Dont get me wrong... I love all of these ideas... but these are just a few question that I ( or others) may be thinking about to. Leonard
  9. Do you think we have them this big here??? This came from Lake Sam Rayburn in Texas
  10. Seth.. When I tye on the marabou.. I try to get the same lenght as the hook shank... As for as crowding the eye im not sure about... If it with the marabou... I make about 6 or 7 good tight wraps and cut it off... which leaves plenty of space to tye off... Im hoping thats what you were talking about
  11. I up for it.... BUT.. just got to make sure momma has nothing planned.. I know she has to work that night... so I can probly stay till about 2:30.. if that ok with everyone

  13. Tippet7 & I hit the water around 9pm.. and WOW... I just loved being back on the water after surgery, but darn am I sore this morning.. nothing a few pain meds cant handle right!! Now for the fishing.. We start just below the rebar and fish down to the big hole (and in it) .. darn was it great.. fish were bitting and they were hitting hard... but they little devils were hard to hook again... we were throwing white woolies and white mohawk sculpins.. and slow stripping them.. I think he did pretty good.. and I did pretty fair myself.. I think by the end of the night 1am I caught about 25 total.. the biggest one I think I caught was 17inched... but that didnt amazed us as much as a Beautiful NATURAL that I caught that was about 15 maybe 16in.. BIG HUGE FINS AND ALL PINK.. those fins look to me like they had "NEVER" been clipped so I dont think it was a stocker fish ( Tippet got a great picture of this fish).. Like I said this was my topper of the evening!! by about 12:30 the moon started to show really good though what I would call a foggy overcast.. and they just shut off on the white.. so I headed home.. Im not sure how many he ended up with I think it was between 10&15.. but not sure.. But I think he had a really good time.. and I think he has found out why Im Also known as The Night Angler on other website..LOL Tippet.. anytime you want to do it again... give me a shout.. I had a great night.. Cant wait to see the Picture!!
  14. Seth.. You said 1/80... I have some 1/64's... that I can send you to see if they work... I can get them 100 @$14.99 a pack if your interested in them You can email me at lkeeney@earthlink.net = LKEENEY
  15. I dont mind the high water.. lot of the time if they have 4 generator going.. lot of guys wont go down there.. But.. there are very few and far between place to try your luck in high water.. Chute 1.. offers some good deep nymph drifting.. but it fulls up quick.. and if you have a good little spinning rod.. you can get away from the guys fish up on the outlet and fish the open water.. of couse chute 2.. I dont fish there much.. so really have nothing to say about it... Now the is chute 3.. between the stairs and the chute is a great little grassy area.. if they dont have 4 on all the way its possible to fish there... and in chute 3... if they have 3 generators going it a great place for jig fishing.. anytime.. the boat ramp... it got some big rock there.. but the fish trys to stack close to the bank.. this is a great spot to fish with 4 on... not very many people fishs over there.. this is the first place I useally go when they have 4 on..
  16. Well its been a week.. I still have staples (10) that are to come out on the 25 next wensday.. I was off the pain meds 2 days after the surgery.. and I feel great.. I started back to work on Monday.. and Momma stay I can go fishing now... so I going rain sleet hail or snow.. thurday evening.. I cant wait to hit the water again!! 3 new flies tied.. and I cant wait to try them.. Leonard
  17. Blind Grabbing is.. A big 2 prong hook with weight added to the shank to keep the prongs upward (off the bottom).. some likes to use 20-30lbs line... You throw into the water and let it settle to the bottom... wait (a slow5- 10 count works good).. and with every thing you got set the hook hard... and then repeat.. after 2 or 3 throw.. move up or down about 10-15 feet along the bank.. and do it again.. Most off the time this is really good method when you know the suckers are there.. But the chances of grabbing a trout, bass and another type of fish is very high risk..
  18. For all of you who likes grabbing .. they are starting to move in the mouth of the creeks.. A friend of mine was out the other day and did some "blind grabbing".. he said he got 8 sucker in about an hour.. all about 18inches... so on the next couple warm days they should stack in the mouths pretty good.. Leonard
  19. MTM.. One of the "BEST" spinning reels I have came across is the Shimano Sedona ( hope I spelled that right).. This little reel has a dual drag system on it.. a set drag and a fighting drag... you set the drag where you like.. and adjust it when fighting a fish.. I use 4lb (maxima line on mine).. Like I said IMHO.. I think this is a great little reel.. Also I think Phil has a couple still in his shop..
  20. WOW... Nice catch guys.. I have no Idea how I missed these post when you guys put them up... Nice pictures.. both of you... that just makes me want to go now!!!
  21. Not breath mints but close.. you dont sick on them.. and you dont chew them... just let them disolve in your mouth.. they work!!
  22. moose.. drop the cig... and go get some Commits.. they really do the trick...

  24. This may sound alittle funny... Think back about 4 or 5 years ago..the big storm that came though around Halloween (I think).. It made a mess everywhere.. with the damage that storm made.. I cound have swore it was a tornado... but it wasnt... they were just strong up-drafts... that knocked over power line.. up-rooted tree.. and tore the roof off some houses... I hate to see what they classify as a tornado in this area!! we got less then 1/4 inch out here in Ridgedale... but atleast we finally got some rain..
  25. Wonder how much or how bad its going to be.... so far for the past hour.. Ive only heard the thunder... Less then 5 minutes ago a few drops of rain.. is this going to amount to anything.. or just tease us?? I hear some hail.. and it big!!
