  1. WHAT A DAY! as I got there around 11am... Im guessing they had just shut off the water and the fish were midging like crazy started with the #8 crackleback.... and just RIPPED them from the log by outlet 1 down to the rebar... caught 30+ saw a few nice fish in the rebar so I switched over to a big PMS.. caught a couple more... well it was getting close to 1:30 and the wife was picking me up at 2... I was going toward the outlet to hang out .... as I was walking up I was messing around and just tossing into the water... the fish wasnt really eating it but chasing it around (which is fun to watch)... Then I saw HIM.... HOLY COW! got in front of him and casted.. to close.. aimed a couple of feet beyond that... and he swims toward it opens his mouth and I set the hook..... MISS! a minute later he settles back in.... another cast... ITS LOOKING GOOD!! a little twitch..... KA-PLOW.... ITS ON A massive head shake.... a HIGH leap.. about 2 minutes later I land myself the biggest brown of 2011... 27in and possible 10lbs... and NO Camera... *** but Steve for Roaring River was there and saw the fish***
  2. and to see people (1 comes to mind)...shuffling and getting ticketed... I would LOVE to see that!
  3. NOWAY.... I never heard of such thing.... A fishermen with a hangover? What World are you from...LOL
  4. personal story*** A few years ago I was fishing in outlet 2 .. not many people there(may 3-4)... This guy walks in right next to .. and starts fishing over my lines... we are getting tangled up about every cast... he then says to me... "Appearently you dont know what your doing .. so why dont you step back and let someone in there that knows how to fish".. a cast or two later.. I get broke off... he comment... "Its about darn time!" so I take a few steps back and start to retie.... he ends up snagging 3 fish.... and says... "see... told you I know what I was doing"..... I tied on some 6lbs line and put on a big T&A rainbow.... getting it good and wet before going back in.. I made 1 cast and hammered a 23in brown.... The guy says to me.. "You need to back up.. Im fishing in this spot" so the other guys are starting to talk.. and he is hearing them... I walk across to the other side of the outlet.. tossed in about and WHAM... I caught a 25in bow..... This guy needs needs a bar of soap he was so mad... the other guys are just laughing there butts of... he stomps hes way out of the outlet... up the stairs.... and yells down to us.. ***you guy can go to (censor,censor,censor,censor)... the fishing here (censor) sucks!" and flips us the bird
  5. the way the water was ripping through... they could have washed over into Bull Shoals... maybe we need to start fishing over there. it would be ironic to see those 30+lbs browns eating those 10lbs stripers..lol
  6. we try to start cooking between 10:30 and 11am... and then after we eat.. you can stand around and chat or... fish some more Hey everyone... It looks like we are still in need of thing to cook on.. Or we can do like a "potluck"... we can bring it already prepared... (but it more fun cooking it there)

The Who Coming and bringing what.. *****For anyone who hasnt been to one yet..**** at the pavillion (parking lot of outlet #2) we'll start cooking about 10:30 or 11am (sometimes earlier) OAF get together for any member and lurkers and families of this site ( and others).. Jan 1st (for the past 6 years) some of the Ozark Anglers Forum member has got together for a some eating, BSing, friendship and fellowship. With a lot of fishing and more BSing. Adult beverages are ok... just dont get too carried away.. we want the families and kids to have fun too.... So we make a list so we dont have everyone bring the same thing.. If you have any question you can call me. (417)334-0497 ****** The LIST: ******** WHOS COMING AND BRINGING **** Leonard.... SEAHORSES.... (Ive got a cooler) Dylan.... 11. my understanding is that it was taken to the hatchery.. They may have the details for it
  12. LOL... They like to hide under the rock at 4-5 feet deep... hard to get to... but they are there.
  13. Dave... Bob is just fine.. he charged at me the other night down by the rebar.. He looks really good.... he has gotten bigger..Looks like he has been eating beaver.. hes fat I guess he got across the river...Im sure after the draw down he'll make his way back to the parking lot...
  14. The best way to learn entomology of your water is first hand... get on the water and move a few rocks... dont have to turn over every rock you see.. look for scuds and sow bugs... size and colors.. midges.. size and colors.. and watch for the ones flying around you (if you see a big cluster of bugs in air shaped like a ball most likely there are midges and not skeeters) worm.. color sculpins... size and colors minnows.. watch for trout "sipping" the top of the water.. this is called midging..they are taking them off the top as the hatch or dropping eggs..
  15. Also... This is trout fishing.... NOT CAT FISHING.... you DO NOT need a 1000 watt lantern to sit on the bank (still on) and then keep your lights on while you fish... Most of the guys that fishing at night will agree with this... **** The more you keep your light off.. the more fish you will probably catch!~** It is not night "pitch black" down there at night... yes it may get really foggy... But its not that dark.. Leonard
  16. NICE!! WOW WHAT A FISH!
  17. Im unable to plan it... this will be year #6... But the pass 2 years Ive been having issues making plans and being able to take care of the get-together... I asked last year if someone would take over the planning.. so I havent started anything about it... Does anyone want to plan it for this year?
  18. Watch the generation.. Today they turned the water on just after 7am... and had 4 units going by 10/10:30 They started just a little early today
  19. $10 Gs (each) for 2 walleyes... HOLY CRAP! with the size of Bull Shoals it should be more... Catch one of those... may not want to eat it
  20. True!! But also ... I like to use the smaller sculpins for the slower stiller water.. and the bigger articulated one for at night and faster water... Where they dont have time to think about what they are eating... they just want to strike it! think of it as a vienna sausage to a T-bone steak... what you would rather sink your teeth into??
  21. I do know about a wooly... But I do to a little size 14 and a 16 sculpin (with small bead chain eyes)... Around Taneycomo Ive seen little baby sculpins.. in late summer/early fall... seems to be the time of year when I seen them the most (maybe when they hatch).. Its lite enough to drift under a float.. yet heavy enough to a couple of feet of water I havent tied to tye anything small than that..
  22. waiting on update for last set... we do have a extra set... I can send it back to everyone ... (OR)keep the extras I start taking picture this evening... but wont post them til next week...
  23. Nice catch.. what did you catch her on?
  24. Its been a while since I did a little night fishing .. I did get out last night and fished for a little bit.. stuck with the new Sculpin Helmet from Flymen Fishing company.. I did catch quit a few fish (maybe 30) below outlet 2 and waded across to fish the south side... These really make for a nice sculpin!!
  25. Got TArcher flies today... AWESOME JOB!!! I cant wait to fish them... I think I'll take one out tonight and test it for everyone..
