Last night when I got there.. It looked like they were running a hard 1 unit.. (it was as high as 2 units but it was just one)... fishing was good-... caught a few fish.. and a BIG Rainbow.. about 25in with a really big girth had to go about 8lbs.. he had alot of scuds in him.. I think the smallest was about a size 24 black with a dropper a size 18 tan... those are mine now.. Also had an peach egg under his chin, a sj worm on his jaw,, and oh yeah my scud in the corner of his mouth..LOL I forgot to take the camera with me last night... but here is a picture for everyone to look at till next time... ENJOY!!! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v732/Leo.../thenewtier.jpg

Larry... here you go Can I get a little more info? yes What color scud? gray What size hook? 12 Is the scud weighted? yes and no... I use a 2 scud rig at night... 1 weighted.. 1 unweighted.. What line were you using? 6lb maxima tyed on to a 2x tippet Figure night fishing doesn't require 7x. What length leader? How far between fly and strike indicator? depends on the generation and the depth the fish are feeding... between 2 and 6 feet And....how in the heck do you see the strike indicator at night? LOL... Ive got super sonic eagle eyes Oh and the indicators glow in the dark... Larry here is my number if you want to get out with me somenight (417)-779-8061 Leonard

How to "keep a grip" on Trout to Release them W/O Harm to the Fish?
Leonard replied to Fozzy's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Im with 3wt... if you hold the fish upside down it is better for the fish... and it does calm them down.. but if you catch a fish 22in or bigger...and dont have a net.. try to bank it.. but get it back to the water as soon as possible... I really hate seen people holding trout up by their bottom lips.. they are trout not bass.... Most (98%) of the trout you catch on fly or lure you can get it close enough to grab either one ( but be careful with those treble hook).. just grab your leader or tippet and loosely run your hand toward the hook (be ready to release the line if the fish starts to act wild or you'll have hooks in you hand)... take hold of the head of hook or fly and then try to get ahold the fish... but like 3wt said.... holding them just behind the dorsal fin... and turn them upsidedown really does work.. once you learn how to.. and the proper grip to the fish so your not hurting it.. -
RainbowHunter... I can give you alittle "on-water" advice... It looks like someone is twisting my arm... I dont see anything happening as for as the wife working... so Im open for the weekend... Here's my number where we can set some plans to meet... (417)-779-8061... Right now the best advice is... Bring a good rod... 5wt-8wt... some good tippets. (0X-3X 9')... I got the extention to add... a good headlight (or a small flashlight).. warm clothes (can always take a layer off if it to warm).. an extra change of clothes (just in case)... as for as flies... I got that covered.. if not we will invade Phil's fly shop... LOL... give me a call... Leonard

I met up with Jeremy and a buddy ... we started just below the rebar and worked our way to the big hole... picked up a few nice on a sculpin... fished there for a couple of hours.. and moved up stream below chute 2 (due to a rod mishap).. pick up a few on scuds and a couple on leeches.... then we went up to chute 1 and caught a few more... all in all it was a pretty slow night but not many guys out... I was hoping they would start up a generator but never did... ran it all week at night.. and the night you want them to turn it on they dont!! Leonard

jdavis... Last night they wasnt running any water at 8:30... 9pm they blow 1 horn... just as we were getting there... so its really hard to say what they will do... all I can really tell you now... is stearmers are still good just sitting in the current.. maybe pick up one or two... nymphs has been work along the banks.... and sculpins where the water isnt very fast..

I got to the water about 9pm.. I started with a 4in rapapla..caught 1 fish about a 12 brown.. and 1 very strong hit.. but missed that one.... then I went to my car and got the fly... I wanted to drift a scud under a lite indictor before I meet up with Jeff and his buddy Ron... well I got busy.... BSing with a few people in the parking and didnt make it dpwn before he got After he got there, we started fishing up around chute 2.. did ok then we walked down to the big.. did well then about 11:30 we went up stream between 1 & 2.. I'll let him fill in all the blanks.. all in all I think he had fun (if that tells you anything!!) I'll let him tell the rest!! here's one of our 20" fish.. aftre this the batteries went down on my camera http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v732/Leo...73/91406Bow.jpg Phil... It was great to see you there last night... how did you end up doing??? Leonard
-
jdavis... By no means can I tell you the problem you are having... But when I got my 7/8wt... I had the same problem... I started with heavier flies and went to lighter ones...that is when I noticed the "load"... I can really feel the line load behind me... and thats the cue to start forward agian... but like John said it probably in the back cast... maybe it as simply as not keeping the rod high enough on the back cast... Leonard

Not a problem... Those Indicators shouls stay light for a long time (6-8hours)... unless its 30 degree's outside... and its almost half that... Leonard

well... here's my report from last night... alittle late but good... fishing was great... the numbers were there last night... 30-35 from about 10pm-2am.. on a white sculpin... I see Michael hit the lower... and I fished the top above the big hole to chute 1... in the big hole.. I caught 8 fish on a crackleback.. 5 of those were little brown bewteen 8-14 in... and pick up 3 fish one right after the other on a white unweighted woolly... and they shut off... so I tied on a white mohawk sculpin.. first fish was a 19 brown and 2 bow 18... about 12:30 I figure Id try up bewteen chute 1 and 2... on the way through the parking lot there was a couple of guys from Jefferson City... so I offered if they want to fish together with me... 1 did the other didnt... 1st cast out was a 17in bow...his first cast out scored a fish to.. this happened over the next 2 hour... almost ever cast was a hit... and ever other cast or so was a hooked fished.. but a few of them was getting off... about ever 7-10 hit (strike) we get the fish to our hand... all in all what a night!! Leonard

crystal ball = Ted Keller...LOL He said a cool front is moving through tonight.. overcast skies.. and a small chance for rain... south east of springfield.... the overcast is a good thing... the cold front is better... and if a storm blows over and raises the humidity.. and doesnt drop any rain or just a small amount.... take any of the 3 and you have a good night fishing... take all 3... well I'll let you know tomorrow
