  1. my son, Rusty, is a guide for River of Life Farm at the falls on NFOW. it's a great place to stay or fish out of. he will make you chicken & dumplings for a shore lunch, if you wish, and put you on fish. you can put in there and pay a modest rod fee if you want to do it on your own.
  2. my fishing buddy says the "summer spawn" is over and the big females are no longer up by the outlets. on a recent trip, we did not catch one 20+" fish, where we had been into 3 or 4 a night. any one share this opinion?
  3. ps it's on page 48 of the Missouri Atlas & Gazetteer
  4. the Mineral Fork crosses Highway 47 Southeast of Richwoods north of Potosi. take 47 north out of Potosi and stay left on it towards Richwoods. it's just a few miles to the river.
  5. spent the day on the river at ROLF. saw deer and otter. sat on the dock and smoked a stogey, practiced my spey casting and about 6:30 pm started hammering them on a 56er in the riffles with my spey rod, strike on nearly every cast. biggest a beautiful 14" north fork rainbow. one GREAT trip!!
  6. GOOGLE "OPTIMUM TROUT TEMPERATURES". YOU WILL FIND OUT MORE THAN YOU WANT TO KNOW.
  7. Hit the creek at between 8 and 9. Buddy got three trailing a green and red scud downstream, real small fish. I wanted to break in my new custom bamboo with a vintage streamer or wet fly pattern and got skunked. Lot of strikes but no hookups. Got to get a fish somehow before the end of the month to keep my 7 year streak of a fish a month on a flyrod intact.
  8. a friend is trying to convince me to try the Okuma cascade graphite fly reel. very inexpensive and tough. has anyone had any experience with these reels? thanks, Russ

  13. As of 10 am this morniing,Michael Kyle, owner of Backcountry Outfitters, a local resident and OAF member, was voted in as a member of the national board of directors of the Federation of Fly Fishers, Livingston, Montana. Congratulations to Michael. This is a feather in the cap to all fly fishermen in this area as we now have a local voice in the FFF. 14. I'm coming down on the side of the permissiveness of the code. MDC covers it's butt that way. Not in the code, not legal. don't Taney regs state that artificials only are permitted above fall creek? coffee beans are not artificial, but natural. why not find artificial coffee beans
  15. the canoes are $25 for four hours. i'd take mine if i were you. they are not large.
