  1. I got to fish warsaw and pomme de terre today, though i didn't catch anything, i had a ton of fun. If my early crappie skills were better i would have landed a few. I saw several fish caught, so the season has absolutely begun!!

  2. I went to the State park marina, a guy named bob arrived just before i did. I was using 1/32 ounce pink lead heads with chartruse grub, i was getting really light hits but i couldnt bring one up. Bob was having the same luck. The fish are there but are biting very light. I'd like to try minnows tomorrow, i've never been that good with the early crappie..but when the locals get there, i'll get to see how its done(hahah). I also went to Warsaw this morning and saw several nice crappie and a few white bass caught, both below the dam on the rocks and off of the courtesy docks..its all being done either with minnows or a very slow retrive. Chartruse grubs with pink heads looked popular.
  3. I jump the gun every single year, this year i used the internet to plan a little better. Walleye should be starting to spawn, the water temp on the lake was 42 - 43 degrees. Thats perfect, so i looked up pre spawn walley's and have a good plan for early next week. I will also use sonar to find the fish and then apply all of the tactics that i've read about. Next week will be interesting for sure.
  4. Water temp was 43 degrees today, the walley's have got to be doin it. I'll be working around Linley creek very soon..
  5. Going to try the walley at linley...water temp was 43 degrees today!!

  6. Welcome Frank..
  7. I just realized that i'm suffering from spring fever..should have known, happens every year. I need to save my fishing money for a couple more weeks when it will really give me a bang for my buck!!
  8. Thanks Trav..i'm still learning how to navigate this site, the information was useful. Looks like the pomme had some rough springs the last few years, lots of flooding. I'll go up the pomme river and lindley creek next week, supposed to be really warm all week with rain one day. A day ago we got a couple of inches in one night, dirtied up the water pretty good. There are a lot of dying shad all over the lake, so finding a lure that looks "easier" than those "perfect" ones might be futile. I just want to get on the water before i have to leave town for work! I'll be in El dorado KS for 10 weeks beginning march 14th, but i'll be back on the weekends. Thank God there's a good lake out there that i can fish too, i caught so many whites out there on el dorado lake one year, couldnt tell you how many, in two days it had to be well over 100, every single cast. I'll post and let ya'll know how it goes up the creeks and pomme river next week. Thanks.
  9. Well, after studying the maps even more..i see that there are two feeds to this lake. Shows how new i am to fishing this lake! There's the lindley creek end and the pomme river end. So are both ends good for spring runs of white bass and all of the others??
  10. Thanks guys..I've been asking around, i guess the water was let out for work at the dam, and from what i hear, they'll be holding water unless it gets above 655. until may. That should keep the lake up all through the spawn, and those fish can't help but to run upstream..i'm thinkin it's going to some good fishing..can't wait!
  11. Hey all, I've just moved to the area and have been building a srategy using google earth maps..there's some good looking places up by the bolivar landing where the lake narrows going up the pomme river. My guess is that there will be a spring run of white bass and all the rest of the spawners that i'm looking forward to hunting! I've got a 16ft flat bottom wide with a 20 horse jet motor, so stumps won't be a problem. Anyone thats given this area of the lake a try and would like to share some info or a fishing trip let me know!
  12. Hey Dennis, At least you're not a bleeding shiner!! hahah..i'm at the bottom of the food chain!! I guess they could have called me plankton...funny stuff.
  13. Thanks Dano.
  14. Hey Everyone, I stumbled upon this sight and it looks like home! I've waited my entire life to move to the ozarks area, and since moving here last october, its been the best living ever. I fell in love with this area as a child, the memories of fishing and exploring these woods never left me. I live near Pomme de terre lake, but i'm also not far from the Lake of the ozarks and Truman lake. Pomme is closer, so i'm sure i'll frequent it a bit more than the other two. Any locals that would like to share fishing info or experiences, send me a message. I've been poking around the Pomme de terre state park marina looking for some early season crappie, any info or good ideas for catching early crappie??
