In my experience their eggs will get loose and the membrane and blood vessels will become engorged. Many crappie will postpone their spawn till water temps suit them, and I've heard conditions can make them abandon their spawn and re absorb their eggs. Post spawn on beaver in my experience, is when most folks are catching them, they will scatter and remain shallow for a little while, before going to summer haunts. I have caught them spawn and post spawn north of rocky branch well into June and this year is going to be another example of that

Looks like some of those crapps were shallow, any come off notches/back of coves/brush? Going tomorrow AM around cliftys, and was curious as to how everyone is acting up there.

Thanks, Mitch, not this time,soon as she headed for the channel I kicked the trolling motor up and gave chase. Just glad those little trebles held.

Nice surprise for an after work jaunt up the river. This guy was in about 12 feet of water and fell for a ghost white x-rap. Big fun on 12# test. She seemed to be a loner, havent found them in this spot this early in years past, water temp is usually around 70 when they appear. Great fun nonetheless and a bakers dozen crappie to go with.

Was up there Saturday, back of bear creek from the island up was nice and clear, but mud was pumping up the channel side, mudline was at state line cove mid morning and well downstream from there by lunch, water temps were 57-60, and the crappie were glued to the bottom in 24-26 FOW. Weekend before they were in 14-19 FOW suspended from 7-10'. Managed to scrape 12 crappie off the bottom, (we limited out last weekend)
