  1. I sure do see a lot of boats throwing it out. The topwater bite is on as well. I highly reccomend thtowing a spook in the morning and evening. We caught bass all day long on everything but I caught nearly all the good one's on the zara spook. I was having a lot of luck fishing the points and the bushes with plastics and crankbaits and then I would throw the spook once I got into the back of the coves. I have had no fish dropping eggs or the other. Looks like some fat bellies though. I had some pretty beat up males like they have been fighting but no fish with beat up tails, like they have been tending to beds ? I did have several times last weekend where bass were moving my bait not striking it. I think they were just moving it off their bed but I am no biologist. It was weird how many times this happened ? I have not seen a lot of beds but the wind has been up and the water a little dingy.
  2. My boat trolls a little too fast so I do not troll much. We were heading towards the dock and decided to give it a whirl going against the wind. I have had some good luck catching some real big crappies this way and I am always looking for a way to put another walleye in the boat. I was trolling deep diving normans but the fish were suspended. Heading up tonight to go at it again.
  3. I actually cleaned the Crappies I caught. I usually do not keep them. They all had eggs. I was fishing between Hakwers and Mutton Creek.
  4. Had a Man's weekend up at the lake. 6 guys fishing pretty hard. Caught bass and bass and more bass. We were able to catch enough walleye each day to go with our wild Turkey breast. (Hillbilly Surf n Turf) The Walleyes are deep 27 feet seemed to be the ticket. Caught them on a jig and a nightcrawler. Sunday afternoon we started doing some trolling and caught 3 more walleyes and about 15 crappies on deep diving crank baits (baby bass color normans). Still were trolling in about 20 - 30 foot. I was catching the best bass on topwater and a guy who stays in my campground won a tournament out there this weekend fishing only topwater. Also caught the 1st White bass of the year trolling. The bass were biting everything - worms, paca craws, lizards, crankbaits, jerk baits and spinners. The weather was interesting Sunday morning but by noon the sun was out. Great weekend of fishing.
  5. Moss is abunant. Has not seemed to hurt the bite. Down in the rivers the moss is not as bad.
  6. Great tips, I agree with all. For some reason Plum and anything Purple seems to do well.
  7. Roark area down the river. Coves with the Willow brush. Right up on the shore 2 - 6 ft. Plum Salamander and PBJ Paca Craws Carolina Rigged was by far the top plastic.
  8. Had a great weekend of Bass Fishing. No real monsters but 3 pounders all day. The other bass were attacking my bait when it would hang out of the one I was reeling in. Friday night it was on fire and the top water bite was on. It is so much fun to catch them that way. They were just hammering the Spook. Fished walleyes for about 2 hours with no luck. Caught a few crappies trolling 25 ft water. Sunday was miserable on the lake but still caught 4 or 5 in about 2 hours. They must of had a tourny this weekend seen a lot of sponsored boats.
  9. I played around a little Saturday with this. I could not find a sherbert color ? Orange or Pink ? I am not sure what color is Sherbert? I used a red trick worm and cuaght 2 fish in about an hour. Took me sometime to get the hang of it but I REALLY appreciate the idea. I can see how it will be handy on future trips.
  10. I did not have any issues with other boats. I think they all thought i was fishing in the bad spots. A bunch of guys crowding the shore lines and brush piles but I was all alone fishing the walleyes. Sunday afternoon it was pretty slow at Roark Ramp.
  11. I hope the walleyes eat all the Crappies. Just kidding....I agree that anything you can do to get more people fishing is a good thing. It stinks about the Mutton Creek dock. I noticed this weekend the dock at Roark was packed with people trying to wet a line. I will leave the stocking of the lakes up to the Corp but I hope they keep dumping in the Walleyes.
  12. I hope the Walleyes eat all the crappies.
  13. Another great weekend for the walleyes. We caught them all day Sunday. Seemed like mid day when the sun came up the bite was very good. It was a little slow in the am and the evenings. Caught several nice Bass 2.5 - 4 lbs and a few crappies. Oh yeah and a Turtle ! A turtle ate my minnow. I had to cut the line, so now a turtle is swimming around with my lucky jighead. I attached a few pics.
  14. Good ole Marquette Yooper, I am from Kingsford/Iron Mountain. Let me know when you up to Stockton and I''ll order some Pasties. Maybe from Red Onion, Eh.
  15. No problem bleeding shiner. I think you came to my defense. I have been accused of a lot worse then culling walleyes I appreciate your posts and info. I am from Northern Michigan and have been trying to figure out these Stockton Walleyes for a few years now.
  16. seemed like 8 - 10 foot, good ole jig and crawler fishing mainly points and it did not seem to matter what kind. Caught most of them at secret fishin hole #6.
  17. Thanks all for looking out. I am no poacher and practice catch and release about 90% of the time. I will keep some walleyes vs buying them at Harter House for $16 per pound. I actually only kept 2. Dinner for me and the Mrs. I started two years ago throwing back all the Walleyes thinking that instead of cathing 14 - 16" fish the next year they would all be 17 - 20". I guess all the ones I threw back did not grow a bit because I sure seem to keep catching them 14 - 16 inches.
  18. That is a nice fish - thanks for the info.
  19. I had some luck last weekend with the walleyes so I went back up Tue night to try a few of my favorite spots. I had to work a little but did manage 5 keepers out of 7 fish. No real big ones 18.5 the biggest but boy they are going to fry up well ! I used walleye type baits and fished the spots the Walleyes are supposed to be. I will be up this weekend and will have some pics for you next week. Good fishing fellas

  21. Nice Weekend, fished the flats around marker 7 and did not do nearly as well. Had 7 keepers and another 5-7 shorties. We did hit on a few good cats as well. Any particular color harness?

    Trip Report 6/3

I meant catching not culling I would never want to do anything illegal. From now on I'll just catch the big one's first. Thanks for the heads up. I am from Northern Michign and have never heard of such a rule. I guess it is because the temp is so warm here and up north it is usually about 75 degrees.
  23. Got to fish two days after the holiday. We had limits each day and were culling walleyes. Caught every keeper on a nightcrawler rig. Did some bass fishing and did well with a big plum plastic worm and a small white crankbait. Caught a bunch of crappie trolling small crankbaits in about 23 ft of water. The fishing was really good. Got a little warm but had a wonderful two days.
  24. I just bought a new hummingbird with GPS and I am wondering how to upload the brush pile locations. Any help would be appreciated.
  25. Had a ton of luck this last weekend fishing walleyes on jig and a nightcrawler. Just like Bob said in his report 18ft deep secondary points. Limited out Saturday and Sunday in a little over 2 hours. Over 15 shorties, 3 real nice smallmouth and a bunch of crappie. Found some bigger walleyes a little later in the morning about 25 ft deep with an orange fuzz e grub tipped with a crawler.
