  1. Nice deer! Just going by statistics provided by MDC.
  2. Deer population is better around Truman and Pomme. MDC rates Stockton deer population as fair.
  3. Almost brand new. Have had this gun 2 months. Not a scratch on it. Selling because I just received an RWS air rifle as a gift. My price is $100 firm. I knocked off 1/3 rd of what I paid for it. Shoots 1250 feet per second. Quiet shooting nice gun. The scope is not in the picture, but does come with the gun and was not mounted on it. The scope was with the original brand new purchase.
  4. What size tungsten weight should I use with 8" to 10" worm (Texas rig) in around 20 ft of water. I' m using 15 lb. power pro with 15 lb flourocarbon leader. Also, who has the best price on tungsten weights? From what I've seen so far they all seem to be about the same price, very expensive. If this question is repetitive I apologize in advance. Your replies are appreciated.
  5. Makes sense, I do miss fish with the mono sometimes and have in the past thought they just weren't being too aggressive. I like the longer rod idea too. Thanks.
  6. I've been using 6 lb Stren mono BP had on sale and it seems to do OK. I use a snap swivel to avoid twist. When those plugs foul without a swivel lookout...you got a mess.
  7. The fish on this post was released unharmed.
  8. we had a great day out there. We're going out again soon. Thanks for the nice replies!
  9. my grandson is one of those people that has a knack for catching fish. Today was a tough day but he still managed to catch a few.
  10. Got out early this morning and fishing was tough for us. Fished around the dam fishing flooded brush for a while with no luck. My wife ended up with this decent fish in 10 fow off a point. Caught a few crappie trolling and lots of drum. After the second drum I didn't think I was hooked to a big Walleye any more. Ha! Water temp was 80 with wind out of the north.

  12. Put in at 9 AM this morning and water temperature was 69°. Fished main lake points by the dam 14 to 20 feet of water using wacky style drop shot with finesse worm. caught five fish four were keepers and one keeper walleye on the wacky worm. Had one fish break off right when he hit it. Moved around the point and caught a few more then returned where I caught the other fish and hooked one right away. Got him in the boat and there was my hook and finesse worm in his mouth with the drop shot sinker dangling, that I had just broke off. I was pretty happy because those hooks and sinkers aren't cheap. First time in my life I've ever had that happen. After that the wind layed down they quit. I trolled Flicker shad for a while and caught a couple more short walleyes and one keeper crappie. Got chased off the water by a squall around 3 o'clock and left. Water was 73° when I left. Didn't catch a pile of fish but I've sure had worse days. Had a great time!
  13. thanks for the great replies to my post. I now agree that a slot limit is not the answer. The guys on this forum know their stuff, for the most part. Sometimes I get bored with just bass fishing and that doesn't help my success rate. Lol! I'm waiting for the carp spawn to end so I can sight fish for them with a fly rod. Real excitement!
  14. Good point 5bites, I agree.
  15. Can't imagine that happening. Lol!
  16. I'm talking 3 to 5 lb fish. But, you may be right.
  17. Just wondering...do you guys think a slot limit on Bass at Stockton would improve the population of sizable fish? If it did, I would be all for it. We would all love the prospect of catching 3 to 5 lb fish commonly, rather than an exception. I'm not against keeping Bass, but would love to see a sustainable population of quality fish for everyone to enjoy.
  18. Because of the size and lighter color you described, it could be a bull snake which is harmless but can be aggressive.
  19. nice report..still haven't tried Ned Rig myself, need to. Did you see any bedding fish? What phase do you think they are in, for the most part, by the dam? The fish I have seen shallow were very skittish and don't hang around.
  20. darn your eyes or something like that. Lol!
  21. Saw a patrol yesterday by the dam. He stopped and asked how I was doing then moved on.
  22. Better lock your trailer too...it might not be there after a day of fishing. We all need to br vigilant.
  23. Tight lines and dragonflies

  24. Saw the same thing happen years ago at Taylor Shoals on the James River. Landowner just got fed up and closed it to the public . What amazes me is how people throw trash in the river and lake too. We have some of the most beautiful lakes and rivers in the country...shame on them!
