Springfield Lake
crappie_adams83 replied to MObassin95's topic in Fellows Lake, Springfield Lake, McDaniels Lake
As an old professor of mine once said how do you get to Carnegie Hall practice practice practice lol but naw I would say go old school and with a horny toad and reel it thru the grass you almost need to cast like you want to get hung up and as well I've had some success with a multitude of baits if ya want ill be out there Friday morning possibly -
That is a great stretch of river that is where the start of the trophy bass sectioned to where they have to be 15" and you're even only allowed one smallie to keep so instead of keeping it they normally get released so I can't wait to hit it Friday

That is true I've even been told by a county sheriff that not even kayaks are allowed on the lake which is messed up leaving you only the bridge to fish off of -
This is not good for us fisherman and for the community itself the marina provide a great service and also I agree with the other guys saying that city utilities doesn't know what they're doing when they don't allow fishing In the small ponds around the city I've personally snuck around and wet a line due to the curiosity getting the best of me

Well unfortunately that's the most defined list of access points on the web for the James River it tells you where there are public and private access to the river as well as what Mille mark they are so other than that I don't know what you are looking for then
-
Hey bob this the best resource I can give ya http://www.missouricanoe.org/river-maps/jamesfinley.html it's a mile by mile break down of the james

Well guys we had a great turnout we had a total of 26 anglers the biggest bass caught was 17.75" smallie we had pretty much everyone turn in fish no one got skunked and cash payouts to the top three but they gave away prizes to fourth and fifth Place big bass took home almost $200 to place first prize was a Yeti hopper a pair of Smith optics sunglasses and a complete set of bait sacks and cash I don't remember how much cash first place was but still good payouts and even if you just entered and didn't place they raffled off a GoPro 4 and an ascend h12
-
Nicely done I bet you saw a couple of the boys fishing the tourney that day to
-
And the payout is also determined by the amount of anglers but the payouts are more of a cash and prize pack an everybody that enters gets an entry to raffle for a kayak and I think the kayak that is being given away for this one is the ascend h12

Me and a buddy went out today and floated from Delaware to shelvin and had a blast he was out for quantity and caught a bucket load of fish while I was catching the quality fish today but he was throwing a rooster tail and I was throwing a custom booyah and a yumbrella got the trophy smallmouth today but they were all hanging around structure any really didn't matter but the color was with white or silver but the river was nice today
-
Lol it's fun but this will be the first tournament they have had on the river
-
And what do you think your advantage would be to carry more tackle
-

Thanks fun little catch with no net in a belly boat
-
Well I went out to the hatchery again today took the belly boat again the sun power all the way over from the first outlet right up next to a cable and was pitching the cable hooked into a couple little small trout but got two nice surprises Close to the end of the day wait the big one at 3 pounds so I would say that I went catching and not fishing today
-
Went up to the dam yesterday afternoon while they weren't running water and decided to take the float tube and caught several nice stockers with a nice 18" bow off a solid white maribou jig with some flash tied in it was nice to break out the float tube
-
Lol I was going and catching several a day and got my largest male to date last week of 3.5 lb using hair jigs and inline spinners only
-
Went to blunks yesterday and paddled up to the creek above taylors and started catching them on roosters and hair jigs and swimming minnow and the a rig so for me it was in for other people I talked to not so much but if I had stayed longer I probably could have limited out
-
Your so right the best place for you would be the walnut spring ramp
-
