  1. I have been wanting to venture to crane creek for some time, and maybe one day i shall. However i DO NOT want to do it when the rainbows are spawning. When should a person altogether avoid crane creek?
  2. We talked about the removal of powersite dam in another forum. Removal of the other White River dams will for sure never happen during our lifetime.
  3. What kind of wire should i use for connecting the 2 sections?
  4. Thank you so much for your advice it is so greatly appreciated!
  5. Thanks Ham, I'll definitely have some jigs and crankbaits in the boat too
  6. Can a person fish where the Farm Roads, cross the river below the park, above the lake, or is it forbidden. If legal, would it produce fish, even be worth it?
  7. Looking to head south to the White come Feb. and I was thinking of fishing from Cotter To Rim Shoals, but was curious, will the browns be back from spawning in that stretch? Or will the majority still be up closer to the dam? what do you gents think? Also I fish Taneycomo a lot, and typically throw streamers, will the same sized stuff I use there be ok? Say streamers in #6 and #8 or do I need to up my game. How important are sink tip lines if my fly is heavy? All input is much appreciated.
  8. Has there been any talk of the plan when it comes time to remove? How do they replace it? Build another dam a little farther downstream, and then take down the old one? Phil, since you own a resort on Taney, would you be for or against permanent removal?
  9. So what does happen when the dam is considered too old?
  10. clackacraft eddy
  11. wouldn't the weir dams end boating on the upper section?
  12. I have a small row boat, with rear mount trolling motor, and I have always been wanting to catch a striper. my question is do you have to travel very far to find them? very far from launch ramps that is.
  13. Sorry just curious, why is it off limits? never fished the eleven point before.
  14. I recently purchased a drift boat, and would like to fish the NFOW one day this winter. Where is a good put in? Is there any one that would do a shuttle? would really like to only have to take one car.
  15. Stocked trout make good meals for Stripers!
  16. I recently just watched the film Dam Nation, it was very good and if you are a fisherman, conservationist, etc, I think you should watch it, and I believe you will enjoy it. I will say there are some folks in the film who have opinions that I share and many that I do not. There is a lot of good info in the film, it is mostly based on migratory fish on our east and west coasts. This is the part that is only for discussion. A "what if?" I REPEAT, only a DISCUSSION, this is NOT HAPPENING! I can not stress enough I am not advocating this, I am just curious. What if Powersite Dam was removed? How would that effect our local economy? The white and Norfork tailwaters have resorts on them right? My biggest question is would it create more fishing access, mainly for wading, along taneycomo?
  17. I don't think you should worry. Yes nice fish are being caught, and I may be wrong but I don't think the run is fully on quite yet. Like I said it may just be me but the numbers don't seem there yet.
  18. We have a guided trip lined up, so the smallie and musky fishing will be out of a boat, but the salmon/brown fishing will be wading.
  19. Will be heading to Northern WI in a week for some smallie fishing. But in our off time we plan on heading to Lake Superior. My question is has anyone fished the mouth of the Montreal River around Superior Falls? Any salmon or lake run browns? This spot is an hour from us and the Brule is a 2 hour drive, is the extra hour to the Brule worth it?
  20. Could the different strains of brown be the cause?
  21. Thanks Gents
  22. I like pine squirrell streamers in black, olive, white, dark brown, purple, and red. I also throw a streamer I call the bluegill which is just an olive streamer with some blue and orange in it. Most frequently I throw a size 8 but you can go much larger.
  23. Do many folks throw streamers out of boats when the water is running? Seems fairly popular on the white, and seems to produce. I know jigging is very popular and very productive. Just wondering about the streamers?
  24. The one time I fished the NFOW it was really hot. We still managed a few bows. We floated from the river of life farm down to Patrick bridge. I would highly recommend that river. It is absolutely beautiful with nice runs to hold rainbows and nice browns are lurking around. River of Life does offer a shuttle service. Just my 2 cents
