  1. LOL ill be down there floating Big sugar next Friday...cant wait
  2. Im planning a family camping \ float trip for the end of the month. Im planning on floating a trip i took last year from Big Rock to Sugar Island. We attempted this float in Mid June...it was half walk half float lol. So with the extra rain we have had this spring im assuming the float will go much better. But with that said im concerned about any log jams or any other hazards in the water. My kids are 7 and 8 and love to float so im just looking for any extra info i can get before taking them down the river. Any info would be appreciated.
  3. Crazy to see that new bridge...i played there so much as a kid. I played there before the bars were put over the tubes lol. I see why they updated it. I remember watching kids climb into those tubes and shoot out the other end. I never tried it. Like ollie said...lots of memories there.... I plan to float from Big Rock the Friday after memorial day. any log jams i should know about ?

    Indian Creek

i talked to the owners this past summer and they were ok with us launching from there...i wanted to check out access from the low water bridge to lanagan city park....which as i mentioned earlier in this post was a mistake due to having to carry my flat bottom 100 yards around that mess lol I love that river...i plan to be down there the 1st week of june again.....
  5. it was very weird seeing both the paddle fish and the gar...like i said i had never seen either before except for seeing them at bass pro...lol
  6. We made the float on Sunday - It was quite a long float since the river was down - the 2 or 3 rock ledges along the way were a pain to move a flat bottom boat down...other than that it was a good float....seen several paddle fish ....came across this guy just standing there in the river and another guy on the bank..the guy on the bank tells me the guy in the river is about to jump on a paddle fish.....the guy jumps on it..it resembled someone jumping on an alligator and getting death rolled LOL - i had never seen one in the wild....its nice to see fish like that in local rivers...seen quite a few gar to. Came across this one who just just died one way or another...took these pics of him...
  7. thanks for the information...i did not get to float Sunday but i am going to float it this coming Sunday. This ledge that you are talking about. Is is a straight drop that we have to get out and carry the boat around it...or a drop that we can slide the boat down?

    Indian Creek

i know this is an old topic but i just figured id reply with an update for anyone wondering the status of the jam after the low water bridge...it seems worse every year...ive floated the Indian from Town Hole in Anderson every year the past 6 years. The last 2 years have gotten worse after the bridge. This year was no different.I Was there last weekend and had to carry my flat bottom around that mess. There is also a jam just after the beach just past Town hole. Not as bad as the one mentioned above. But you still have to carry your boat around it
  9. Tomorrow me and a friend are wanting to float from Delaware Town access to Shelvin Rock. Looking for any information about any down trees or any other obstacle that might cause any problems. Also does the river Y any where or is it a straight float from Delaware to Shelvin. This will be my first float on the James. I drove down to Shelvin today and they were doing a massive cleanup down there. Looked like they have over 100+ tires! Im glad there are lots of people out there willing to do that. Then went and checked out Delaware and it seemed like it would be a nice trip. Thanks for any information Edit..we will be floating in a 14ft flat bottom
