  1. Always been around, if everyone practiced catch and release only there would be problems just as if every one practiced catch and grease.
  2. Exactly! I've ran to hide under big metal docks, don't think that's a very safe place... Also need to consider the average bolt is about 4-8 miles long, longest one recorded is over 100 miles long.
  3. I remember reading an article about a man being struck by lightning in Fla I think. "Experts" thought the bolt traveled thru the braided fishing line.
  4. A graphite rod with a line in the water will be wet as well...
  5. Seems to be the norm, but lightning will take the easiest path. The electrons are attracted to opposite charges, like opposite poles on a magnet
  6. Didn't say it was a good conductor, lots of other factors to consider during a lightning storm. Atmospheric pressure attributes to conductivity because of unstability. Wood isn't considered a conductor, but how many times have you seen lightning blow the bark off a tree? Also a few more volts involved in a lightning bolt than a battery
  7. I believe graphite is classified as a semi-metal which means it is a conductor. An insulator like glass doesn't mean it's lightning proof, insulators do not allow electrons(heat) to flow "easily" through. Not sure if there's such a thing as a "non-conductor", but I have been wrong many times before.
  8. Have you ever had some one touch you in a boat or touched some metal and been "shocked" by the static build up? Lightning is an extremely jacked up static charge but works on same principles
  9. Comparing the legality of keeping a legal number of fish to driving buzzed might be over the top just a little. Selective harvest is as diverse as the number of lakes. There are some lakes where there is NO limit on the number of fish kept, some where you can't even fish, and some that are release only.
  10. I mean this comment to be respectfully sarcastic if that's allowed... You have to give the jersey jerks credit for one thing, they probably ain't keeping bass for a fish fry
  11. Really? Wow!! So following you logic a game warden needs to be at the next pro/am tourney and start handing out tickets all around. I mean by using your way of thinking if both anglers have caught their 5 fish tourney limit the guy who owns the boat should be ticketed for possessing the fish in his boat?
  12. I followed pretty good until the standard deviations... Also might need to take into account, that's 45k surface acres
  13. If you really believe that bass fry is the lowest thing on the food chain, how may I ask do you think they grow? The 8000 bass would be the 1% survivors. No doubt the deer have a greater chance for survival. One final question...do you purchase a license or tags to kill your deer?
  14. There would be 1200 deer IF they ALL survived...so while the deer are still reproducing in that 4 years the bass don't? The 1200 figure for deer would now be compared to 8000 bass I would venture a guess that there are way more than 250,000 keeper bass taken from TR every year. There are many ways to look at it and yes the two can be compared. If I remember correctly, you are the one who brought up the comparison earlier today...
  15. They take into account how many people keep fish when setting creel limits. Just to satisfy my simple way of thinking I did some math, which I'm horrible at! I'm only assuming the survival of the babies. If you have 100 female deer that have 3 fawns each(about the max)and they all survive to maturity...that's 300 right? If there are 100 female fish that have the minimum of 2000 fry and only 1% survive to mature...that's 2000 right? That's more than 6 times more bass at minimum eggs and 99% mortality. Those are the numbers I based my opinion on...and those figures could be very wrong
  16. Ok Cody, I can connect the dots just fine. I'd like to offer an apology if you feel I have attacked you personally, wasn't my intention. I may have misunderstood your last sentence but it feels like maybe it was personal. My opinion is different doesn't mean it's right or wrong. Our opinions are so far away from each other it's interesting to me the way others think. I don't know of any way to prove how many 15" bass are swimming in the lake, but there would have to be less than 0.1% survival rate for the numbers of bass/deer to be remotely close, and that may be the case, again I have no way of proving it. Still believe if the numbers were anywhere close, there would be a season for bass like there is for deer. But that 6 fish limit applies to everyday and every hour of the year.
  17. I don't have an opinion on your deer herd, other than wondering how it became "your" deer herd, I couldn't care less...my opinion is there are many more bass in TR than deer in Mo. Just wondering where/how you got your numbers. Just based on simple reproduction rates, deer have 1-3 babies and bass have 2,000-40,000. There also may be a reason you can keep more bass per day than number of deer you can kill per year.
  18. Hmm, interesting opinion
  19. I'm misunderstanding again...you're saying the number of deer per square mile in Mo is greater than the number of bass in TR per square mile?
  20. Really don't think you're a bad guy, these forums aren't the place to form opinions on someone personally. Pretty sure we know many of the same people in the Hot Springs area, if you weren't a good dude those folks wouldn't like you. Typed words get read differently by everyone. Think it maybe snowing around the devil...both you and I admitting wrong in the same thread...lol
  21. Practice what you preach. If you don' t like it, go somewhere else, criticizing about it only causes hard feelings. Maybe you should choose your words better, instead of criticizing, use all those words you know for suggestions. It's not a coincidence you get singled out for criticizing...just something to ponder
  22. This^^
  23. Misunderstandings...I wasn't trying to change the way you feel. Just voiced my opinion on what I feel was hypocritical statements on an open forum.
  24. Ok Cody, misunderstandings all around...I took the posts by you and a few others as bashing a man for keeping bass, if that's not the case I was wrong for attacking y'all.
  25. Sorry for the misunderstanding, when I want to throw up looking at a pic that generally means I freaked out a little.
