  1. I have a 6'6" medium action spinning rod with a reel with 10lb mono on it and a shorter 5' ultralight action spinning rod with a reel with 6lb mono on it. Which one would you take to float for smallmouth? I've used the ultra light before and it worked ok, but it seemed the baits I was throwing were too big for the rod (4" tubes and 5" flukes).
  2. Nice, thanks!
  3. I was planning on floating the Huzzah on Monday from 8 down to the low water bridge and was wondering if anyone knows the conditions down that way with all this dry weather we've had.
  4. I know this thread is a year old, and sorry to bring it back from the dead, but I just fished Calvey Creek yesterday. Even though the water levels were on the low side, there were several deeper holes that contained some decent bass. Caught probably 10-15 smallish (6-10") largemouth and spotted and a couple 6-8" smallies. Even caught some of the most brilliantly colored pumpkinseeds. Mostly used a black roostertail and a small floating Rapala stickbait. I fished the section from Hwy O north to about 1/4mi north of the railroad bridge.
  5. Just joined today after searching for information about stream fishing closer to the St Louis area. Long time Montauk fisherman though, but haven't been there in about 5 years. Need to get back.
