  1. Beauty!! Happy turkey day!!
  2. Nice!!!
  3. Actually, I would stay out of the Jewelry store at all cost!!
  4. WHERE were they yesterday!!
  5. Great catch!!
  6. Met up with F & F at PC around 11:30. Saw him caught a big striper using shad. Did not have any luck today hooking them, but almost caught one using pencil popper(white and red). I think my heart skipped a beat when I saw the monster came up and tried to hit the popper on the surface! Very windy day, started fairly calm and surf start rolling in. Thanks again to F & F for showing us how to catch shad(please be very careful if you are in the very back of the cove looking for shad, it is very shallow and there're stumps everywhere) and how to rig up for stripers, maybe next time I will hook one!!
  7. Congrats, that's one good looking fish!
  8. It's good talkin with you and thank you for the post!!
  9. I finally saw shad today! After your post, I figure I'd go back to the end of PC and see if I can spot some shad. I finally found them at the creek mouth and at the cave in water less than a foot deep(some of them are huge, about 10, 12 inches, I guess those are gizzard shad). I parked near the dirt ramp and walked all the way back to the cave. Got all muddy thanks to the rain we had last nite and this morning. It's hard to imaging catching them from the boat in such shallow water, I'll bet if I try, I'll get stuck in the mud or break the trolling motor blade or something! I guess there are shad in the deeper water, I just didn't see them. Did not see any boils while I was there. The first time I came, I was too far in the creek, maybe that's why I didn't see them. Did not try to catch them today since forcast calls for rain for the next few days and also didn't fell like walking back to the truck to get the net(too far!!) Did see some tire tracks along the shore left recently. I assumed that's from you.
  10. Speechless!
  11. Amazing!! You really need to show me how you do it sometimes. I just don't see how you catch them big ones day in and day out!! I guess that's what you'd call SKILL!!!
  12. I wish there is a fishing 101 at Beaver Lake for dummies I can take!!!
  13. BTW, talked to a few other anglers, no one did too good today.
  14. Were you the one in the red truck by the bank at the end of the cove? That was Dad and I this afternoon, we went back to the very end of the cove where it's only 3-5 feet deep, didn't catch any shad(I think they are hiding from me again!) Only manage to catch a couple of small fish by 6PM. Didn't see any white, hybrid activities at all.
  15. What a fish! (the striper not the carp)
  16. Wow! You covered a lot of areas, how long where you out for? Did any fishing? Still waiting to get my truck back from the shop. Thanks for the report!!
  17. Thank you much for your inputs!!
  18. Thank you for the detailed input about shad! I guess I need to catch them first before worrying about how to store and hooking them!! Havn't had any luck yet, but hopefully things will change for the better! I think one day, I'm just gonna go out to the lake and look for shad and not even fish. Maybe I will find them if I pay more attention to the surroundings.
  19. Does anyone have recommendations as far as what I need to change or replace on the boat or motor annually? I know I need to change the lower unit oil, how about spark plugs, lubing the gear and the transmission, fuel filter, etc.... Do they need to be done or check every year? I run the boat with marine fuel stablizer with every fill up. I store the boat in a un-heated garage. Didn't want to winterize the boat since I'd like to take it out when we get a warm day or two in the winter. Should I get a small heater for the garage to make sure it doesn't freeze? BTW, I have a Mercury 150 two stroke. And finally, is there a shop you would recommend locally to do the work?
  20. Stump bumper: If you don't mind fishing out of a fish and ski boat and also with someone new to the sport, let me know. I could always use some advice from good anglers.
  21. Not far enough huh! I was worried that I might need to get out and push the boat! I even pulled out the trolling motor because it was scrapping bottom. I was feets away from the cave you were talking about (I think)on the left bank. Thank you very much for willing to help me out with the electronics and fishing in general. I have a Lowrance HDS-10 unit. Not sure yet If I need to work Sat evening, but I'd love to see you catch a few big ones!!
  22. So, everyone seen shad but me, I might need a new pair of glasses! I swear I was out here at least an hour yesterday looking for them, I started at the very back past the last boat dock on the left, where the water is barely 2 feet deep and turning into mud. I didnt' know the water was so shallow til the trolling motor stirred up mud. Did I going too far? I eventually came out more along the south bank, I guess the north bank is where the old PC road and the dirt ramp are at. look for ripples on the surface (seen a couple, but nothing big)and didn't see any cloud on the finder, neither. Maybe the shad are hiding from me, it was early afternoon, so they might be in deeper water. F & F, do you have any suggestion on the Lowrance fish finder? I revised one of my post earlier about not seeing fish arches after turning of the fish ID feature. Appreciate any help!!
  23. BTW, Y'all are probably thinking why would someone don't know jack about fishing has a pricy and hi-tech fishfinder? Well, that's easy because it came with the boat when I bought it!!
  24. If you see someone clueless in a yellow Nitro, that'll probably be me, pls stop by and give me some tips(or clues)! We went out today for a few hours in the afternoon, I was looking for shad flipping at very back of the PC cove, didn't see any, finally gave up after an hour looking for them. Caught a few small bass trolling cranks, left around 6 PM. I'm sending the truck to the bodyshop to repair a fender bender tomorrow, so won't have anything to trailer the boat with for a few days. Try catch some big'uns for me. I do have a question about the fishfinder, I have a Lowrance HDS-10 unit. Today I turn off the fish ID feature while trolling, but I don't see any arches on the graph, but as soon as I turned on the fish ID, I can see the little fish symbols with depth. Is there something wrong with the tranducer, or I just don't have it set up right. If I remember correctly, the colorline was set at 63, sensitivity and depth at auto, frequency at 200 khz, and ping speed at 18. I tried to play with colorline, sensitivity, and ping speed (including what F & F recommends) to no avail. Also, does anyone know how to rotate the screens on them, I like to have the downscan and sonar on one side(top and bottom), and sidescan and gps on another. I went though the manual, didn't find anything about rotating the screens, only adjusting the panel sizes. Appreciate any comment!!
