  1. A few pics of a few of our catch Saturday... I haven't caught that nice of crappie at Stockton!
  2. Oh, seems to be good when the water temps are in the low to mid 60's. Might be a couple weeks away from now. lol
  3. Keep in mind, that if you stand to brave it... once you have located brush piles in 10 - 20 feet of water (not many right now, lol) those windy spots usually bring the walleye in to feast on shad. I would suggest a crankbait or spinnerbait with a trailer hook and you should slay the walleye on those piles. Once they are on the piles, the crappie leave, but who would want to eat crappie over a nice keeper walleye?!?!?!?!? I usually find good results, but need to be windy for at least 30 minutes on those spots. Wind blown isolated standing trees work well out there as well. Accessible from boat or bank. Happy fishing!
  4. LOL!
  5. Get the map from the marina, it's your best friend. You can also download and print off a map online at the MDC website. Both are good sources. I don't fish specifically for bluegill, but catch them often off the brushpiles while fishing for crappie with minnows. Depending on the time of year and water temps, the crappie bite is usually very good. A lot of very good, quality fish in the lake if they will bite. 2011 has been a tough year for crappie, but that seems to be getting better with the cooler temps we have had recently and the drop in lake water temp.
  6. The only Muskie I have caught on fellows was while crappie fishing in July 2010 in the south creek arm. Complete accident, around noon and one hell of a fight with an ultra light set-up with a minnow. 34 inches. I have tried to replicate that catch again and again... they are a tough nut to crack on Fellows but there are plenty of them in there from what I hear.
  7. I hope you are still chuckin' and crankin'... the cooler temps have helped turn the bite on in a lot of places on the lake!
  8. Brisk morning for those that made it to the lake early. Air temp at 7:30 am was around 45 degrees. Water temp at the ramp was 63.2. Water temp at 3 pm was at 67.4. The crappie bite was good, minnows, 15 - 20 feet on structure. Walleye have finally decided to start biting, along moss beds and vegetation in water deeper than 10 feet. Caught 14 crappie over 10 inches and 5 keeper walleye. Had to let 2 others go that checked in at 13" and 14" respectively. It was very busy today, a lot of boats out on the water. Hope everyone had fun, I know my brother and I did. Beautiful day to enjoy the lake.
  9. Started the day using swim baits for bass, ended up spending the morning catching 6 largemouth, and then on to white bass and walleye on various baits in the late morning, early afternoon. There were quite a few boats out, and most I spoke with had a fantastic day fishing, as did I. Crappie bite, according to an old timer, was back on. He limited out and showed me his catch. In brushpiles, 18 - 22 ft. Been a slow year on Fellows for crappie, good to hear that someone is getting a break. Water temp at 8:00 am was 66.4 degrees at the ramp. By 1:00 pm 69.7 degrees. Happy fishing!
  10. Fished the morning for bass, seems they are still holding tight to the shallow moss beds and shallow weed cover. Caught 9 largemouth bass in the shallow backs of coves with vegetation, including one nice 5.5 pounder. Water temp around 67 degrees at 8 am, 69.5 by noon. Using swim baits and frogs. Headed out in the morning Saturday to hit them again. Happy fishing!
  11. I know that they preformed a lower unit pressure check for me as well as a check my timing a month or two back... so I would guess they still do it all. Even though I have had them work on my Mercury, they are one of the select few Yamaha authorized warranty repair facilities in the nation. I guess that accounts for something. I would call and see what they will and won't do, but my guess is that they do it all.
  12. Thanks for posting, interested in a couple of these events. As stated, a good time... for a great cause!
  13. Always wanted to go down there and try it out... sounds like I need to get off my can and make something happen! Nice work!
  14. The bite was on, as long as there was some wind. Once or twice for a period 5 - 10 minutes the wind shut off. And so did the bite. That 16"er was a good fight on my ultra lite. Thought maybe it was another bass until it got closer to the surface. SURPRISE! Wish the rain wouldn't have ran us off the water, my brother loves to go up and fish there and I take him when he gets the chance to. It's kind of nice to take some time away from bass fishing and hook into a few white sides every now and then. Good to mix it all up once and a while!
  15. Hydro-Tec is still in business btw. One of the few reliable and very knowledgeable boat repair facilities I know of in the Spfld metro area. Just had some work done on my 150 Mariner as of late. Ask for Matt or Wayne.
  16. Spent the evening and some of the night before the storm in Price Branch Saturday night, dropping minnows in 15 - 20 feet off downed trees and piles. Fished from 7:45 - 11:15 with 20 total crappie caught, 14 the kept. Largest was 16 inches. Also caught a 16" largemouth bass on a minnow with the ultra-lite. Fun times! Happy fishing!
  17. Well, I decided to not go with my usual "chuck and pray" technique while on Fellows today and went with a specific plan of reading my graph and use what the fish are telling me throw to instead of what I wanted to throw. Funny how the latter works a whole lot better, even though I spent a lot of time cruising water, watching my depth finder (which is never the most fun). I find that from time to time, I think I know what will catch the fish based off of past trips and not necessarily what would be the most productive. First boat to put in this morning, waiting when the security officer arrived a 6:41 am. Water temp at 6:55 am in the back of the south branch - 76.8 degrees. First two largemouth hit a Zara Spook around 7:30 in the bushes, back to back. Third bass, on a buzz bait... around 8 am while letting the strong winds this morning from the south take me out along the west bank in the south arm towards the main lake. Fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh bass were caught on crankbaits between 8 and 10 am. Two back in large and small coves with weed beds, in 1-2 feet of water. The other two were in 8-12 feet along structure changes on the bottom. Nothing fancy, just where 6 feet dropped off steep to 12 feet for example. The crank bite seemed to die off and I wasn't seeing any more suspended fish on the ol' depth finder, so I hit the main points and used a football jig where, again, the bottom structure changes produced bass eight and nine. I caught #10 in the weeds, shallow, on the jig and then went with a weightless plastic set-up for more weeds fishing, which produced no bites. It was almost noon and I was just about fed up with the strong south wind blowing my 14 ft Landau around like a sail boat. I decided to fish the last point on the south end of the lake, just before the marker buoys. I had a spinnerbait on one of my rods and thought what the heck. Wind like this wasn't going to allow me to finesse fish at that point. Two casts out over the point, and bass eleven was in the boat. I cast out past the buoys quite a few times and caught number twelve with a crankbait again... about a 13 inch largemouth with two other about the same size chasing the one I had hooked. Water temp in the main lake area at 1:30 pm was 81.2 degrees. All in all, the largest was 18 inches and caught only 3 total that were 15+. All others were 9" - 13". In today's case, the larger bass were deeper. Smaller bass seemed to be schooled up together in shallow water. Won't be back on the water for another week or so... thought I would share the info if anyone is planning a trip soon. I prefer to throw a worm, but today's wind made me change up the gameplan and it still produced good fish! (Sorry no pics, cell phone took a dive this morning while my wife was trying to call me.... Verison here I come...)
