  1. Nice job passing it on. we were fishing out of Mutton Creek last weekend, and it was pretty slow. No walleye, 6 total-4 slab12+" crappie, 1 white bass, and about 15 LM, 2 keepers. all crappie were 15', and the bass were scattered. crappie hit jigs and minnows and trolled cranks, bass hit cranks, jigs, jerkbaits and jigs tipped with crawlers.
  2. ill be heading down tomorrow night and will be fishing friday and saturday for walley and crappie out of Mutton Creek. Is any body catching any crappie and walleye out of that area? also, how bad is this cold front going to damage the bite? thanks
  3. Thanks J.M.
  4. I know that the limit for walleye is 15" 4 daily and 8 possesion, but what are they for the crappie? Ill be fishing out of mutton creek next weekend and if the early weather reports hold true, it has potential. Any tips, ideas, or secret honey holes are appriciated.
  5. it looks like we will be down the 13 and 14th of april. do you think that they will still be shallow? Again, i cannot thank you guys enough for your help.
  6. BTW, WalleyedMike, i looked into those slow death rigs and immediately ordered some. they look...well...deadly. ive never fished a spinner rig/crawler harness/bottom bouncer before. do you drift, electric motor, or troll with the gas motor? do the walleye tend to be more scattered as far as depth is concerned, or do they tend to concentrate in one particular depth? And do the crappie move up shallow that early in April on stockton? sorry for the 20 questions, this might be my only chance to fish stockton this year, and i would love to go into it as armed as possible.
  7. thanks again for the tips. you guys are awesome for sharing your knowledge and experience with everybody on here!
  8. Walleyedmike, as a bass fisherman, i can respect the catch and release mindset, but...if they didnt want us to eat the walleye, why i ask are they so darn tasty? and i have fished with my brother long enough to know that we are a MINIMAL threat to ANY fish population. LOL! Thanks all for the pointers. would the same sort of tactics worked if we switched up and fished out of Mutton Creek? I cant wait to get back, we havnt been on stockton in over a year, and i love that lake.
  9. when fishing the grubs and swimming minnows, do you bounce them off the bottom or cast and retrieve? Also, do the;y hit crank and stickbaits that time of the year? So many questions, and all i really know about walleye is that they are delicious fried.
  10. My brother and i are gonna be on Stockton the second weekend in april. We will be fishing out of Orleans Trail. Our target is as many walleye(1st priority) and crappie fillets as we can get in 2 hopefully 3 days of fishing. Experienced with bass and crappie fishing, but rookies with the Eye's. Any advice, as detailed as you care to be:) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  11. are the walleye biting, is anybody catching keepers anywhere? I'm itchin to fry some walleye!!
  12. At what water temp and in what depth range do the walleye at stockton spawn? Where would be a good place for a novice walleye angler to try and catch a limit? Also, what do they eat during the spawn, and whats the best baits for catching them? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.
  13. The lake was awesome. we decided that we were going to have to make this a more regular trip. We usually fish TLR and some times Mark Twain, but we really liked Stockton. Seemed like the fish were starting to get more shallow. we did the best in about 15 feet of water, although we never went more shallow than about 10-12ft. If I had to do it again now, i would try to move around the 8-10ft range some, just to see if they are moving up. Good luck SmallyWally. Fish On!
  14. No keepers, but we caught 11 short walleye, almost 20 bass(largemouth and spots), and a crappie jigging crawlers on the gravel points and flats, and trolling the flats and chunk rock points around Orleans Trail. We caught 2 white bass chasing shad by the darn early yesterday on a rooster tail and a buzz bait. Not bad for not having been on that lake for over 10 years and never having fished walleye before. Thanks again to all for the advice. Fish On!
  15. Thanks all for the advice. Ill let you know how we do.
  16. my brother and i will be walleye fishing on Stockton for the first time on Thursday and Friday, does anyone have any suggestions on where to fish? we have a fairly good idea about what they are biting on, we just could really use some ideas on where. we will be putting in at Orleans Trail. Please and Thank You.
