  1. I have seen a 40 lb flathead come out of there. Have only caught a 12 lb channel myself. It its really over fished though. Best time to fish it is after a big rain and water be up past the lower ramp. Did snag a 40 lb spoonbill two years ago but won't go back. It is a circus down there opening day. Think Bennett springs opening day but with huge trebles and big lead weights flying around.
  2. Was that aimed at me fishbait?
  3. Just fishin, where did you find 16 ft of water on the James below Springfield lake?
  4. what's his info/rates? We are booked down there this Monday and Tuesday for tuna. Hopefully, we will come back with loaded coolers like you guys did. Was that trip in the spring?
  5. When and where were the tuna caught?
  6. I am going to update my sonar unit this spring so I am going to sell my 899. It is exactly one year old, bought it when I purchased my boat last year. It has sonar, charts, side and down imaging. Asking,$800. Message if interested. Located in Springfield.
  7. Does anyone know of any books for or info on hybrids and whites?
  8. I have kayaked the upper part. It is pretty intense and remains dry most if the year. We have to watch the gauges and wait for it to be in flood stage to paddle it. Have never tried fishing it, but add mentioned, the lower part is more likely to hold fish. Good luck and give a report. Twin falls is beautiful with good flow and rain.

How many hybrids do you guys usually see mixed in? I have caught a few, but not like I do when I fish them in their summer patterns.

At what water temps do the white bass start pushing up the Pomme arm? I know they stage near the mouth, but was curious when they started their push up?
  12. Do the hybrids follow them up river or tend to stay on bluffs?
  13. Water temp was 46. Found Shad in 2-6 foot of water. Lots of white bass chasing them. Went catfishing. Found them on ledges from 27-37 ft deep. Tried off the bank below the dam for a couple of hours while they were generating. Lots of bites, but no monsters.
  14. MDC had begun stocking stripers as of 2 summers ago. Looking forward to them in the next couple of years.
  15. It is 55 lb thrust and I'm in Springfield.
  16. Got into these last Sunday, but they weren't generating. Was in my boat and they were a little ways down. Now that they are generating maybe they will move up to the dam?
  17. I have a friend that rents their lakehouse out on VRBO.com Just search for Forsyth,Mo. It us very nice, fully furnished and 150 yards from powersite dam. The closest ramps are river run (3 miles away) and lower taneycomo ramp(1 mile away). It is set up to rent the upper level, bottom level, our both. We always catch some fish around that area. Good luck!
  18. Caught hybrids up above the dam, but did not try below. I would think something should be since they still have a gate open.
  19. Channels are omnivores. I have personally cleaned several that had full bellies of moss and grass. I always thought the yellow was fat and the fishy flavor was from the higher fish oil in that tissue? I have never bled them but do soak in refrigerated salt water for a day or two to draw the blood out.
  20. This is the 12 volt with a 54" shaft. It has the foot pedal and is I pilot compatible. It is brand new in the box. $500.00

Went last weekend. Could only find big(8 inch) and small (2 inch) Shad, but it didn't seen to matter. Still caught some on the small ones. Biggest being 6 lbs. Anyone else fishing? Kinda quiet on this thread.

Anyone finding the right size bait? If so any info is greatly appreciated!
  23. It's obvious it's an intentional cut as it is clean and tears are jagged. You would disclocate the jaw from a tight drag and huge hookset with braid. It is either from a knife but probably from dikes or snips. Just as was mentioned earlier, even high speed trolling would not do this as the rod will flex and absorb shock as it is designed to. The brushpile theory is a good one, but as was also mentioned, this is probably a local fisherman to be able to affect this many fish. Are there brushpiles near all the affected areas? I would keep an eye on people who are fishing these isolated areas. Hope the person is caught and equipment seized.

Went last Saturday. Very windy. Could only find bait up by the cemetery where it was too windy for me to throw and control boat. Fishing was tough.
