  1. Quill I was up your way with a buddy yesterday and it seemed we had our best bites in the 52 to 53.5 water around viney. Not so great after we went up the white past pt.25. Water Temps dropped below 50 there. We had a total of 9 in 4 hours. Most on the mag wart and a few on the arig.
  2. Nice fish. Looks like you covered alot of water today. Was the bluff jig bite best while it was sitting on the ledges or as it was falling ?
  3. With the right clientele serving the food in bikinis I might take the time to stop and eat.
  4. You're a genus
  5. Subway in shell knob will bring it down to their dock. That's service.
  6. Too late Bill they're building a floating restaurant to go in at Kings river marina as we speak. Carmelinas Italian bistro. Suppose to open in 2 months.
  7. That's ok im a bigmouth once in a while.
  8. Hammer time I'm sure I saw you or passed you this morning. I was in the silver flake triton.
  9. You know for $4.99 a guy can afford to buy several colors of these and occasionally lose one once in a while and not bother them like a crawler would for almost twice the money. Like I said earlier they throw a mile and run great out of the box. You just need to change out the hooks.
  10. This is probably the last time we'll see it this calm this week.
  11. Weatherman said no rain for us until 11 and he was right on the money. It started pouring here on the kings at 11:00. I put in around 8 on a calm morning and fished till 11. I figured I had enough time to hit my favorite bank before it rained. Overall I caught 14 with 4 keepers on the 50 yd. transition bank. The lm was about 3lbs. with the other kentuckies a little over 15. I started with the red clown mag wart and threw the swim bait for the last hour. The mag wart caught 8 and the swim bait 6. The bite didn't start until around 9 when a light breeze started. There were a lot of topwater hits the whole time I was out there but none within my reach. Next time I will have a white spoon or a small whopper plopper on deck. Water temp was 54.6 in my area where I caught fish and 52 throughout the kings.
  12. My buddy throws the mag wart this time of the year and catches bigger fish than the original. It throws a mile and I'd rather fish it than the Rock crawler. Today i threw the school bus color but the red with yellow bottom and the spring craw color are just as good.
  13. On one transition bank I had at least 9 in a row. Every fish was in 8 foot or less. They hit the a rig as soon as it hit the water. You'd think that big ole thing would have scared them when it made that big splash. On the cast I didn't catch anything something hit the lures sideways almost every time. Big difference 4 degrees makes. I caught maybe one fish on those type banks all last week.
  14. After reading Bill Bablers post and Bill saying to get out there and hammer them I did. I got out there from 2 to 4:30 but I didn't hammer the big ones. It was windy. Water temp had gone up to 54.6 since last Fridays 50.8. I hit several transition banks and caught the two keepers on a school bus magnum wart. Overall the mag wart caught 8, swim bait on a 1/4 oz. head caught 6, mouse spinner 6 and that heavy dang a rig got me 9 and not a keeper on the a rig. Every non keeper was a big ole fat 14 3/4 Kentucky.
  15. Thanks Bo. Just one more great post to fire me and everyone else up.
  16. Bill, thanks for the kind words. I hope with my posts somebody can catch a few more this time of the year. You , Merc, Champ, Quillback and others have made it easier for me to catch fish on days when it's tough by your posts. This is a great forum when everyone gets involved and share their days.
  17. The south southwest wind yesterday was the big difference. It was also cloudy most of the day. When the sun came out I had more bites.
  18. I started around 11 with not a breath of air on the water and a light sprinkle. Not a good day to throw a spinner. For 2 hours until 1:02 I didn't catch a fish. The first largemouth came on the war eagle spinner on a main lake outside bend. The last Kentucky came off a point on the end of a small cutout at 3:30. I had a total of 11 all on the spinner. The northwest wind didn't help any once it started blowing around 20mph. Water temp was 50.4 when I quit so it didn't raise much from yesterday. Water was a green tint with 3 to 4 ft. of visibility. All fish hit the spinner just about halfway to the boat as I was sitting in 20 to 25 fow. I was slow slow rolling the spinner so i'm guessing I was about 4 to 6 ft down in the water.
  19. Bill you are right on the visibility of 3 to 4 feet in the green stained water. During that hour and a half I came close to catching a fish on every cast. If I wouldn't have been in the right place at the right time I would have only had a 9 fish day, This time of year that's normal or a good day. In the six years of living on the lake I've only been able to go back to the same spot and have a repeat performance maybe 2 or 3 times. It's raining now but I plan on going out around noon if possible. I plan on hitting some similar banks up the kings. I'll post later and try to get some better pics but it's not that easy by yourself.
  20. I didn't mention that I threw a salt and pepper grub with no luck in the middle of the spinner bite. I did catch 3 on a red strike king squarebill in the same area. Overall close to 30 total.
  21. I started with a shakey head this morning on bluffs with no wind around 10 with no luck. Decided to throw the table rock shad jerk bait for a 100 yd. stretch and caught 2 kentuckies with the one in the pic going a good 2 lbs. Switched over to a norman crank and caught a couple more. Exactly at 12:59 I thought what the heck and threw a war eagle 1/2 oz. mouse color spinner sitting in 20 to 25 fow. on 45 degree banks. I boated 21 largemouth and kentuckies. I would guess at least 10 knocked the heck out of the spinner I never saw. Throwing up on the bank and slow rolling back to the boat worked best for me. Most bites were in the 10 to 15 ft. range. The spinner bite quit around 2:30. The wind begin to gust and after hitting a couple windblown points and a couple banks I finished with a little over fish. Half of the spinner bites were right at 15 and the rest 13 to 14 inch males. Water temp was 50.8 when I quit around 4.
  22. Went out yesterday and only caught 3 on points. One was a 3lb. Smallmouth and the other 2 were non keepers in a few hours. But what surprised me was that I saw several shad balls in the middle to the very back of coves. While casting through them i could see bass attacking them. Is this normal for the shad to be back there so deep into the coves this time of year?

    2-10

Water temp was 46 late wed close to the mouth of the kings. Clarity was maybe 2ft. The 2 points I fished were in full sun.

    2-10

Sorry this is late but I got out about 4 to 5:30 wed. afternoon and fished the gravel points. I fished with a dt10 in a red craw. Reeling as slow as I could turn the handle and dragging the crank along the bottom the whole time i caught a 20 inch wally, two 15 inch spots, and a non keeper lm. I lost a 4 pounder right at the boat that I should have lipped. The key was a very slow crank and constant crawl along the gravel. Can't wait to get out again and try it again.
