Yeah, in a perfect world i'd have 2, one at the console, other at the moter, maybe eventually...lol Like DD, i'm going to use it to find brushpiles and such for crappie, and maybe even some catfish holes here in the Delta. The only thing I may use it for on Ozark rivers is perhaps trying to locate some deep walleye. Or if I find a good smallmouth spot I might mark a waypoint. However I usually remember places like that visually.. DD, if I ever did go with one in the front trolling moter, wouldn't SI be the way to go there?

Yeah, there the best cooker I've ever used, and I've cooked a lot of big fish frys over the years for local establishments. If you cook a lot, what you save in oil really adds up. I haven't cooked as much as I have in the past, but if you need to feed 50 people, that thing will do it. They have smaller versions, mine was actually overkill for our group the other night, the smaller 5 gallon version would be perfect, but I try once a yer to have a big fry at my farm shop and invite my neighbors, when I have it i'll holler!

I would like to see what your working on. However mine isn't side imagining, its a elite 5 with chirp.. DSI+Sonar...the transducer looks a lot like what I had on my old hummingbird, but it's rather longer, but same concept. I'd think as long as I stay out of inch and a half water, i'd be alright. The current river where I fish, I rarely run through much shallower than 6 inches, but if we have a drought again, that could change. The eleven Point is a different story, but run my trout boat there. thanks for the help.

How do you guys with a jet boat like a blazer mount your fishfinder transducers, or do you at all? I plan on mounting one on mine for walleye and crappie fishing mostly, I crappie fish in the delta, but next time I go fishing I might be on the shoals of the Current river. I think it was Griz that said he mounted on an old transom trolling moter, and raised it when he was going in knarly water. That's one idea. Do any of you mount them traditionally on your transom with no problems? Thought about my front trolling moter, but i'd really like to have it at the steering wheel. Thanks for any suggestions. Right now, i'm kinda leaning on the transom trolling idea? Bret.

Headed That Way. Anyone Want To Fish?
LittleRedFisherman replied to hoglaw's topic in Norfork Tailwater
Good for you getting out there. Those missed big ones just make you wanna go back!! -
With Chirstmas festivies and family coming in soon, I've had a hankering to hit the Current river all week. Even though it was raining most of the day, I went anyways. I had about 3 to 4 hours to actually fish. This stretch of the Current, is where I go in the warm months, I have never winter fished this part of the river. I had some new hair jigs, and a few the Mitch sent me that he ties, which are awesome by they way, also had two jerkbaits rods ready, a pointer deep diver 78, and and my megabass jr that the brown trout nearly destroyed last weekend! I'm keeping it real as I always try to do on my reports. The smallmouth didn't cooperate with me at all. I did manage to catch a few spots and one largemouth, they were all in thick cover with no current as expected. I fish what I thought would be good pockets of water for smallies, small eddy waters near fast current, slower sections of current off from the main with lots of boulders etc. In on section that was a deep hole with some eddy current, I had a good bite, and when I set the hook, it was big, but only had it for like 2 seconds. The hole looked more like a walleye hole possibly, but who knows. All I had to take a water temp was a soil thermometer I used on the farm, I would think it would work, and it read 45 degrees. I fished with the jigs more than anything, I might should of used a jerkbait more possibly? Anyhow, my whole purpose is to broaden my horizons, and the challenge of patterning winter smallmouth in new water intriques me. I've got other places to go, I can catch smallies, but I wanna figure this area out, I know theres some big ones in there. Very well could of just had lockjaw yesterday, but i'm ready to go back already. Next time, I plan to have more time, and try for some walleye was well! I left after about 3 hours of fishing when the rains picked up again, it was a very peaceful time to be on the current, having this stretch of river to yourself is always a blessing after the summer traffic!

Don't forget Senko type baits, and the old standby 3 inch curly tail grubs!

Saw this and thought might be a neat idea for a jet boat. The magnet looks stong. Was wondering if I used this to mount a transducer on my Blazer, that if it did hit something if the magnet would be easy enough to detach to keep from tearing up the transducer. My guess probably not, but neat idea here, haven't checked cost yet, that might be deal breaker...lol

Oh yeah, if you could of got Cody doing that "trying to save the Loomis Shuffle". Now that would of been Gold on TV....lol

A January deal would be fun, I could probably make that work! Yeah, when we were really hammering them at the end of day two, it was crazy, we had 3 triples minutes apart, I was to busy to film....lol, at that point, Ham went from 17 to 79 in like 2 hours, crazy.. Lots of footage not in this clip, stay tuned, i'm gonna edit another that may air on TV eventually! It will have the same theme!!

I just want to reiterate what Ham posted so well here. I had a great time with all these guys, got to fish and share experiences through fellowship this weekend, great group of guys! As far as the fishing goes, Ham covered it well. I'll talk about my Brown bite yesterday, it was pretty hot for awhile. I had mainly thrown jigs the day before and the first hour of so of Saturday, we got to a good stretch of water just full of big rocks, wood, and moderate but now to fast flow. So I had a one of my Megabass tied on my baitcast from a Smallmouth trip that didn't happen last week. I pick it up, and on the second cast, got nailed by a feisty 16 incher. Needless to say I got pumped up a bit, so kept at it, Lane (Terriermans grandson) can attest for me as he saw it to, but a monster, and I mean a dandy Brown swiped by the bait, missed it and just stared it down, I lightly twitched again, and he took it, but I had such a good look at all this, I think I pulled to quick, and missed it. By now my heart was pumping. We preceded down the bank, and about 5 minutes later I hooked and landed the my biggest fish of the trip, a 20 incher! In about an hour I had landed 8 or so browns from 15 to 20 inches on the jerkbait. We went up to drift it again, on this drift, Lane managed to land two good one with his gold headed olive and ginger zig jig, and Ham landed a nice fat chunk of a brown and a Smallie!! I didn't keep count, but I caught 10 or 12 browns plus several that Ham and Lane landed on the jigs, that made me a happy camper, I was wanting a nice brown, and got my wish! I have to give props to Ham, to putting us on the fish, his knowledge of White river is inpressive. I also have to mention his "called shot". We went to one of his "spots" and he said somebody will catch a smallie, on his first cast he caught a Dandy of a smallie, that thing just bulldogged him all the way to the boat. I had the best spot in the boat most of the Saturday as I drove the boat, but he still managed 79 fish from the front, a fishing machine. Lane did well to, plus he caught the only Cuttthroat in my boat all weekend! Day one was fun to with Ham and Cody (Gotmuddy).. We didn't have the brown action of Saturday, but we caught a ton of trout, and hammered them at Cotter when we made that move to follow the water! Enjoyed the weekend, and meeting some new folks, Snagged in outlet (Pete) Mike Whorley, Griz (Les), and Terriermans friend Bob, he was a hoot! Lane is a fine young man, and did great for his first experience jig fishing! Look forward to it again next year! Heres a ton of pics I pulled mostly of my video camera, i'll post a video of the trip one of these days!

Great time guys. I'll elaborate more later when have time and a keyboard. Yesterday was almost epic for me for bout an hour on the browns! More pics and video tonight! The abuse my mega bass took tells some if story Pic at bottom is not the big one. Gotta dig out of my video!
