  1. Great buy folks. Awesome kayak
  2. Makes me feel better guys. I went Friday solo for bout 4 hours. Just a few dinks, weather was nice but created lockjaw I guess. I'll be on the watch for this guy
  3. I would think the weekend of the 13th would work for me. As far as the place, Ham and some of you others know a lot more about places on the river, but I really liked what we did last year, and those two stretches.
  4. Above big springs, there's a 40 limit, so if they switch stickers around, they can boat up there without drawing as much attentions to whoever is patrolling the boats up there. From big springs down, there's no limit do it wouldn't matter..
  5. Yes, for my schedule, late November and into December would be best for me, because here on the farm, my cotton crop is looking late, and i'll be picking in November this year it's looking like. If we keep catching rains, it could push late into the month... But you never know, it's hard to me to say right now, things can change. I'm with Kyle on that wide open river, that was amazing to have one of the finest resources for trout fishing maybe in the world, all to ourselves, very cool! I liked the Rileys station last year, and those stretches of river we fished, but i'm up for anything. If we get enough folks in on this, we could rent that sweet cabin next to the one we had last year...
  6. It was about this time last year, that Kyle (Hoglaw) I think it was brought this up. It turned out to be a great time dispite some imclimate weather. Who'd like to do this agiain this year, and any idea's if we wanna do something similar to last year. It was a great time, good fellowship and fishing! We did this in December last year, any idea's just throw them out there, nows the time to start planning. For those who didn't go, here's a little video I made from last years trip, its all about the fishing in this vid, but there was a lot of food and fellowship I wish i'd put in there to.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s8go2QDoPiQ
  7. Yes, very practical boat. Yeah I went to Doniphan one day earlier in the summer, never again least on a weekend. I got out today for awhile at Currentview, was the only boat on the water all afternoon, now that I loved. Fish had lockjaw today, but boated a few. This will be a great winter boat, can't wait! I've seen this in the duck woods to, however I'm sure this is a 60/40, i'm fairly familiar with a ETEC, this moter has the same displacement as my 50 had on my duck boat I sold. 40 50 and 60's have same displacement on an ETEC. Next size up has larger cowling, but I see what your saying, it does happen all the time.
  8. Been on the water a few times in the Blazer, really pleased so far with how it performs! The Minn Kota 70 has been great, i'd like to have the digital someday, but the 5 speed works! Haven't clocked the Evinrude, but i'd say it's runs between 30 and 35, very impressed with the speed for a 60/40. I've heard a properly tuned jet will only cost 20 percent, I didn't know if I believed that, but now I think I do! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3o1yHqifqw
  9. I have become a huge fan of the old grub, i'd get some 2 to 3 inch ones to add to the arseneal Kyle. They have really produced well for me this year.
  10. Thanks guys. Phil didn't notice that not sure I can change on iPhone. May be tonight.
  11. Yeah, that bottom may have been a darker colered spot, may have my pics mixed up, but that top one was really dark for a spot I thought, and the lines really mottled, might have another picture of it, but it was different. Yeah, that was fun, hard to get to do this on a weekday, hope before harvest gets cranked I can pull a couple more of these off..
  12. Got to break in the boat on the current yesterday afternoon. Worked till about 3, before my buddy Chad that works with me on the farm and I took off to the Current. I had installed seat bases and a trolling moter on the boat earlier in the week, and I was pumped to try it out. We caught about 20 from 4 to dark, with the dog days of summer we were catching a few more spots this time, but Chad caught two nice hybrid smallies or mean mouths as some call them. I also caught a walleye on a crankbait, but it slipped out of my hands before I could snap a picture, it was around 16 inches. Water is down some, but still plenty to navigate good. Great way to end a work day!! Oh yeah, there's a big one got away story, Chad's weighted senko was outcatching my non weighted, and he pitched one in around a deep rock bank point, and hung a hoss, never saw it before it broke off, he was sick, but just makes you wanna go back more!
  13. Bout got it ready, just need another battery to go 24 volt! The boat is already wired with a plug on the deck.
  14. One thing I noticed on my 50 etec I had on my war eagle, was when duck hunting in temps in the teens, it would start right up, and be ready to go, very little if any warm up needed. My 4 stroke on my Supreme, needs to be warmed up for a few minutes it seems, especially when cold.
  15. Yeah, i'm partial to the Etec these days Ham, really wanted that. Hope so Mitch! More importantly, would love to take both of you guys fishing with me sometime!! Like Al mentioned on his boat, this one has the extended front deck, which I wanted, has a livewell and storage under the seats. I put it in the St. Francis here at home the other day, had two other guys, we all averaged right at 200, I'd say it's getting close to 30 mph, which is more than enough speed for me. The river is really low here now, and I cleared some shallow sand bars with no problem. Worked out, the price I got for my War EAgle, almost paid for this, so my wife is happy to....
  16. WEll, I got my duck boat sold, and found this Blazer SS from a guy not to far from here. Tried it out the other day, runs great. It was mostly a play boat for this guy and his family, i'm installing seat bases on the decks, and trolling moter tomorrow, will soon be a smallmouth boat!
  17. Thanks.. I've got a moterguide wireless on the river jon, and it worked good for 3 years, then the board melted internally. it was gonna cost so much I bought another one, but liked the moter up to that. On this deal, I just ordered a Minn Kota Edge 70, price about what I wanted, and I wanted the cable type, I think I like that better than wireless myself.
  18. Looking to get a cable type foot controlled trolling moter. Looking at Minn Kota Edge 70, or a moterquide brute 70? I found a company that is selling the moterguide one at a discount, but lately I've heard some say minn kota way to go. Anyone familiar with either of these. I know there lower end, but think they would work for me for now..
  19. will do! I've had the moter for almost 3 years, and have had no problems till lately, so i'm hoping this is it
  20. Didn't think to do that yesterday. Just need new pump or fix that one?
  21. Ok. After further inspection I started pumping on the dowel on the end of that pump, and it makes a spitting sound , with clear gas visible at the bottom of the stroke. So I'm thinking the pump is it after all
  22. Wow, I know I wanted an evinrude when I got that boat, but he was selling those moters at cost so went with it... As far as breaking in, I remember going to the st francis over here, and I ran it like they told me for about 2 hours breaking it in. I don't remember the exact procedure, but the first tank of gas I was trying to break in properly. No water in the oil, but it smells of gas for sure. when I changed it when I first noticed it, a buddy and I fished hard one day, and probably ran it a good couple hours worth. It didn't seem to me that it accumulated any more? I used it again a week later, but didn't check it, was kinda in a hurry and forgot, then it set up for a few weeks till I checked it Friday, and it was full. you think it's possible that there pressure building up in the heat, and forcing gas out that pump, where as the prime bubble can't pump it that tight? Ii'm pretty sure the tank is properly vented tho, plus it has some kind of apperatice on the fuel line that is suppose to keep that form happening as well? Thanks for your help, i'll try the next procedure and see what happens, otherwise i'll just keep changing oil more frequently till she blows, then get an ETEC..
  23. Wrench, took the pump off like this and pumped on bubble pretty tight. No leaks
