  1. Thanks guys! Muddy, that's not autopilot, its wireless, its got a hand and a foot control
  2. Here she is!! Rob was great, he done a great job on the boat. We walked through his shope and showed how they are built. I've wanted one of these for years, I'm thankful that I was finally able to get one. Look forward to seeing you on the water!!
  3. Ok thanks, guess you got more rain than I thought. Probably be alright by Thursday hopefully. Brian, also my buddy that coming to wants to bring his spinning rod, what would be a good bait to use that would be legal in the trophy area? I also plan on bringing my TFO 4wt, I've got some 1/124 oz jigs that work great on the Little Red, may have to swing that one a few time for some trout if we get the chance.
  4. How much rain did you get up there Brian? Think the water will be alright? Looked like you didn't get near what wer did, got over 5 inches here, ditches and river here are full.
  5. Boat should be ready this week, i'm pumped up! Pictures to come when she gets home!!
  6. That sounds great, I guess being the beginning of a river system helps drain out alot faster than being 100 miles downsteam of a watershed. I'm so excited, I'm giving up the first day of the second split of our duck season, but like I have always said, I like to hunt, but I love to fish!!
  7. Im headed up that way to fish with Brian next week to find some smallmouth!! I'm not that far south of ya'll really, but I'm hearing it could rain 3 to 8 inches. Sounds like some rain would be good to color the river as you say, hope it's not overkill before I head up there. I read on here one time somebody was talking about the water can even cloud up coming out of Greer after alot of rain, I find that fasinating, I figured it would be filtered out and be clear no matter what, neat things you learn on here...
  8. That's awesome!! On the eleven point, do the smallies bite all winter like trout do, due to the cold water? I'm really wanting to try some smallies on the Eleven point here in Arkansas!!
  9. Thanks for the heads up, for some reason it goes to that crappie video when I copied the one on the Hellbender studey, lets try this. This should take you to the page of all the agfc videos for the past couple years, go to October 8 2011 video, and that should be it, pretty cool show they did on the Ozark Hellbender. According to them, in Arkasnas the Eleven Point is about the only river they can still find them. Here it is http://www.agfc.com/resources/Pages/ResourcesVideos.aspx
  10. Oh yeah, I've heard to that on the White, thought you was talking about the eleven point. I'll take it easy for awhile i'm sure in those "knarly" spots until I get a good feel for the boat.
  11. Thanks again for all the feedback!! Muddy, where is buffalo shoals in comparison to riverton?
  12. Will do there whiteriver. Thanks for all the tips, taking them all in! I've seen these boats in action, its amazing to me how shallow of water they can go in.
  13. Al, thanks for the info, that sounds like a good idea. Is your boat similar to a supreme? I live in the Delta near the ST. Francis river, which is another reason I wanted this boat. The river here gets so shallow in the summer, few can fish it very far, but I'm planning on getting thru the sand bars and finding my "holes" to catch those flathead in the summer. That river is up right now, so it will be a good place to get the feel of my boat before I hit the ozark streams with it, especially eleven point, which I know the least about. I'm hoping that even with 3 people, this boat will plane out properly with the 25 jet. I thought about a 40 jet, but was worried about the wieght, and started getting more than I wanted to spend. There's times when I go by myself, especially on the St. Francis, and that 25 will be better suited for me most of the time i'm hoping.. Thanks again, Bret.
  14. Sounds like a plan, if you know that stretch of river I may holler at ya sometime. I haven't fished for smallmouth much in the winter, but I bet up there at Riverton, you can still catch trout that far up, not to mention smallies!!
  15. Gotmuddy, yeah the eleven point can be tricky for sure. Where have you fished it before? I have never fished it north of the AR border, put in near Dalton last time I fished it, had to get out and pull the boat through a shoal. I've thought about trying it closer to Pochahantas, i beleive it's a little easier to navigate there, but correct me if I'm wrong. That river is one of the least used treasures in Arkansas, IMHO, as far as smallmouth bass goes. I recent servey was done, and according to the AGFC, it has one of, if not the most dense population of bass in Arkansas. With all that being said, I hope I can get to some of them with my new boat...lol
  16. Thanks Mitch, I forgot to mention that the brown trout there is still swimming in those waters, unless someone else has caught it by now. My brother in law on the other hand was dying to try a new trout recipe on those rainbows...lol
  17. Since I'm kinda new to the forum, thought I'd show one of the youtube videos i've made while fishing, (in which i've made a whole 2 of lol). Anyways I took this last Dec. while taking my father in law, and brother in law fishing. I know some of you pure flyfisherman may not approve of the powerbait they where using, lol, but my brother in law especially, was the first time he had been trout fishing. Powerbait is a great way to introduce someone to trout fishing these tailwaters for the first time, just to catch some fish. I've been honing my skills for years, and have got to flyfishing alot more, but I also like using crankbaits and trout magnets when I spin fish. Here's the video, we had a fun day, and did some bonding on a warm December day, hope you enjoy!!
  18. Fantastic catch, and plan awesomeness!! Would love to hang into a few of those. Congrats!
  19. After looking into it for awhile, and talking to people, as well as on this forum, I decided on a shallow water rig. I"ve went with a Supreme L48, red stripe, with a 25hp at the jet. Rob was great to help me with the options and such, seems like a great business he's running there. Can't wait to get it wet when it's done, which should be in less than 2 weeks. Planning on going after some trout on the Little Red and White rivers with my flyrod, and some trout magnets, as well as chase some smallmouth on the Eleven Point river. If you don't recognize me on this forum, I was going by troutman, but for some reason couldn't get it to work on here anymore. Also, I've heard the pro's and con's of Jets, and are aware of alot them, but do some of you jet motor anglers have any advice on running one in these rivers. Thanks again!!
