Is there anyone in the Lake area that knows how to install a transducer the right way for a thru the hull type transducer? Or is there a better way for today's electronics. Just want to install a basic fishfinder like Lowrance makes for a couple hundred bucks. Want to be able to read it while moving. Also have the old style flasher units I want to be able to use.
Has anyone had good luck on shiners for catfish on the Missouri? Called around Herrmann trying to find live bait and all I can find is worms and shiners.
I have a pond about 1 acre in size and have stocked it with about 150 channel cat, 100 bass and some bluegill and a lot of minnows to feed with. We also feed catfish food at times. Problem is we have no sigh that there is anything but turtles in the pond. We never catch anything but a few bluegill and this year not even that. What has happened to all the fish. Have the turtles been feeding on all the fish? We have tried to get rid of the turtles with no success. What do we do?
Went to the Missouri at Herman yesterday and took some Junnies dip bait and some #2 treble hooks with sponge on it. Just a little while and the bait was gone every time. The bait is advertised that is has extra fiber in it so it would stay on the hook better but it don't. What does everyone do to keep bait on the hook. Was watch the G3 sportsman and the guide said the same thing. They were using some bait that he said would stay on the hook. Been using catfish charlies for years and it never stayed on either. Just don't know what to use to make it stay on.
I for one would sure like it . Would save a lot of mileage into the city to get some materials. And it would pay off cause of the other water, not just the park crowd.
I'm wondering if the laws in Missouri is for real. Was just at Montauk and guys all over the place still wairing felt sole boots. I just went and got myself a new pair at 159.00 that I couldn't afford and then to see that kind of p!@#@d me off. We then sent over to the trout water out side of the park for a while and watched more then one guy walking out with a full stringer off bait caught fish. And all of the small.
Now I live in the National Forest area out side of Steelville and at deer season it is like the deertona 500 by my place. Guns sticking out of every window. My wife and my granddaughter up in a stand leagle on private land just up the road from our place and they are stoppin and shooting in the field at our decoy right in front of them 100 yards.
Where are the wardens??? Are they for real??? I've told them at Rolla office and it makes no difference. Nothing has changed.
I also have an Orvis Super Tackle Pack. Seams like the more pockets there is the more stuff I try to stuff in them till my back hurts and is no more fun to be out there. Now I use a Fishpond Blue River chest pack. Haven't had it out much though. Don't know if I like it or not. Tried it last year like an old time creel on my side and hated it. Now it is on my chest like it is designed for and it does work better. Can't use it like a fanny pack cause I am not that tall and get into to deep of water. Still, if I can't carry it in it I don't need it.
JGarland, if you are still looking for a good reel repairman, that them to Paul's Bait and Tackle (if they are still there) on watson road in STL.They stock most parts and can get most of the rest of them.
