  1. That was funny Phil. Merry Christmas.
  2. Welcome to the site and you will learn if you have the desire. Check out the Taneycomo site as we have a get together going on on Jan. 1, 2007 you may want to come down and mingle and meet like the rest of us are going to do.
  3. What you give them to print is what you will get back. If you crop a photo then that photo is going to be that size forever cause you can't go back once you save it. The photo will turn out to be the long skinny fish you sent them to print.
  4. I got a Smith and Wesson 9mm Automatic for work when I was working by telling the wife that with the gun on one side and the bullets on the other it would be a better balance and and help the back trouble.
  5. Sounds like you have found a bit of paradise away from home. Is this where all resort owners go when on vacation. Have fun and take a few pictures for us that have to stay home.
  6. Glad to hear you are home and things are going well for you.
  7. I am going to bring some special made Meatball Sandwiches. I will use the Crock Pot if I got a place to plug it in. That way it will be ready to eat at lunch time. I am also bringing some cake that the wife makes up that is pretty good too.
  8. For those that have bought Gortex Waders and you develope a leak. Turn them inside out and with a cloth or paper towel apply some Rubbing Alcohol to the suspect area. The leak will show up as a mildew spot. Then just apply Aquaseal over the Alcohol. The rest of you may try a dark room and a bright flashlight to find the pinholes in your waders. Then mark them and seal with Aquaseal.
  9. Some people see themselves as being more important then they really are. I believe a little patients on the part of the older man would have gotten him what he needed and maybe more. The phone call could just as well been and emergency of somekind. I hope that as I gorow older I don't become impatient.
  10. If I can find the place I should be down after all I got nothing else to do being retired and all. The fishing in this area is it Flyrod and fly only or is Spinning Gear allowed. I may even get the wife to bake up some bars for us to munch on. The Lic. is there a Trout Stamp or anything that goes with the standard Mo. Lic. If you can't tell I am new down here.
  11. Okay, I love setting around talking and having coffee but since I am unfamiliar with the area I have no Idea what or where the Pavillion at Taney is. Can I get some directions or an address so I can find it. So much to learn and so little time.
  12. Good Luck on the Surgery and I hope you make a fast recovery.
  13. What meet and greet on January 1st. I must have missed something again. Where and when is this going to take place?
  14. Welcome Mango! There is a tone of Flyfishing information available here plus it seems like a ton of knowlegable Flyfisherman and Tyers.
  15. You can always just keep what you have a invst in a Slide Scanner like I did. I bought a Konic Minolta DiMAGE Scan Dual IV and it works quite well. I have two Canon EOS 630's with a few lenses but I want the D30 with some new Digital Lenses. The Canon EOS Rebel XTi is a great little camera for a good price. It will take some respectable pictures and some great Bird Shots with the right lense.
  16. It is hard to say as some older lenses are not compatable with the Digital Systems. I would ask around some and see what they say about it. If your lenses are good lenses and are compatable with the Sony System then your fine. If not your options are open and you can look at all the systems and pick out whatever you think is best. Currently, Canon is the only company producing a full-frame digital camera. These offer potentially superior image quality due to both the number and size of the pixels on the sensor. Many pixels packed on a small sensor can generate increased noise and give a less satisfing image at higher ISO settings. I got this from the new Outdoor Photography Mag. You may be better off with a new Canon 30D and some new lenses in the long run and sell the older stuff. Pick up Outdoor Photography and read some of the articles it is a good Magazine.
  17. I believe that the Sony Alpha 100 or whatever it is uses the Minolta Mount. Here is a Digital Camera Review site that should have the info on the cameras. I friend has the Sony and it takes awesome Pic's. http://dpreview.com/
  18. Welcome to the forum Doc Tom! I saw the Buffalo on the News last night and I don't think anybody going to float that for a while.
  19. Welcome to the site Bill and I think you will find what you need here also. It is a great site with many helpful people and a lot of answers.
  20. I got into a 50 degree mountain lake ot in Glacier Nat'l. Park in Montana and that was cold enough for me. When I lived in Illinois I waded the rivers in Winter and that wasn't bad especially when we hit the Discharge at the Treatment Plant. It would be 60 on one leg and 30 on the other. However, the Smallmouths were home and active as were Walleye and Catfish.
  21. Now that Seaweed Soup sounds a little better John. I think I could try that for sure.
  22. I finally ate up all the left overs from Thanksgiving. Now I got to wait til Christmas for all those favorites. I don't eat no Seaweed though. I like the Polish Sausage and Sourkraut (sp). I also like Brats boiled in Beer and Onions and then Grill up Golden Brown and served with some Hot Mustard. I think thats my trouble I like to eat to much and do.
  23. Yes it is but just think we could be living in Alaska and be in something like -20 with 40" of snow. This will be gone in a couple days. I hope.
  24. Got my Milk, Bread, and Orange Juice Wednesday. I can smell the Chili Cooking upstairs as well as the Cornbread Muffins. It looks promising that we gonna have supper soon. I just wish I would have thought about buying the ingredients for the soups I want to make Wednesday when I was at the store. I thought about it but didn't have the list for what I needed. Wife will pick the stuff up Sunday and I can make them next week.
  25. A Bedroom with Bath which has two beds is only $90.00 at Gaston's White River Resort on the White River below Bull Shoals Dam. This is a great place to stay and they have an excellent Restaurant also.
