  1. Did fairly well this morning in a spot between boat docks and where the creek channel run parallel beside it. Found plenty of shad and when I could pinpoint the bait, I had the most luck on a flutter spoon casting it and fishing it back with a stroking retrieve. Surprisingly caught several nice spots and a few largemouths that way. When I couldn't find the fish, I dragged a fb jig and shakey head to catch them as well.
  2. Growing up on the Arkansas River has taught me a lot of things, even though its not table rock lake, current is everything when it comes to fishing, summer or winter, but summer especially it is critical to have some flow to catch fish, all species, but including bass...
  3. Thanks for the tips guys, now with some well needed sleep, I'll be ready to hit the water.
  4. Has there been any hatches coming off early or late in the day?
  5. Hoping for any suggestions for some dry fly patterns to try. I've never fished roaring river but thought I would give it a try while I'm off next week... Thanks for any help.
  6. I've been shakey head fishing for a long time. I've tried numerous lines for it, and my main goal was to find a set up that would cast the furthest. 8# maximal works really well, but I still use braid and floro combo tied with an albright knot. I've tried a lot of knots, but the albright is by far the best, and with a good drag set correctly, I've had little problems on hook sets. As for baits, I pour my own heads, and I only use the biggest hooks(5/0 and 6/0 football heads) and I don't think you can go wrong with the plastic you put on it. I've used worms and senkos to craws and beaver type baits.....
  7. Reality is what makes you go back fishing. The curious thought of " you never know what might happen"!
  8. I noticed once the shade spawn died down alittle, my Topwater bite slowed down as well.
  9. Rps, do you think its about that time the fish start slowing down on the Topwater bite?
  10. I'm not fortunate enough to fish from a boat most of the time. Back during memorial day weekend, I was fishing a favorite point at big m and I personally witnessed several close calls from boats and jet skies. I couldn't keep a jig wet long enough to catch a fish sometimes! If they don't respect your personal space while your in your own boat, imagine them 10 yards at half throttle flying by your face...
  11. I have been using a chompers and catching a few fish on them, anywhere from5 to 18 feet deep on rock transitions.
  12. Swimming a grub is hard to beat, especially on deep clear lakes like T.R.
