  1. The NFork is always good, just depends on how you want to fish it. As far as the generation, they might be shut off to make adjustments to the dam for minimum flow. I read that the project was to begin sometime this month. Then again, that might not be the case.
  2. I started fishing at the second access (the one just down from the boat ramp). Caught most of the fish there, but caught the big rainbow just below the riffle at Parker Bend. Next trip will probably be by canoe to see more of the river. I believe you are right about the problem with Beaver and minimum flow. Probably wont happen, at least not anytime soon. Wishful thinking.
  3. Fished for about 2 hours this morning. Overcast and a very cold wind, but thankful for wadeable water. Caught 10 fish on vairous midge pupae, with 3 in the slot, including a beautiful 24 in rainbow. No browns. All of the fish looked very healthy, in full spawning colors and strong. No silver bullets. This was only the 2nd time I have fished the Beaver tail, and was pretty impressed. A minimum flow would improve fishing all along the White system, but especially here. Hopefully that happens. Hope I can get out at least once more before the Beaver drawdown starts. It might be tough to find low water anywhere when they do.
  4. Brian, Had something come up on Thursday and never made it over. Pretty disappointing seeing how nice the weather was. Hopefully I will be able to get over there before Christmas. I bet the river looks pretty good right now. Jeremiah
  5. Thinking about a half day float on the NFOW on Saturday. I see the river is starting to come back down to some pretty nice flows (800-900 cfs). I read in Brians post that most of the standard flies are producing, but with the less water, what sizes should I be carrying. I have only fished the river once, and it was about 10 years ago. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. Jeremiah
  6. Larry, there is a recipe for a loop WD-40 on the How-To-Tie-Flies link on the home page of this site. Its not too hard to tie, and is a great fly for Taney pretty much anytime of the year.
  7. That is one of my rules too, but im a student in springfield, and the weekend is pretty much my only opportunity to make it to the river. (and crowded or not, the river is a great vacation from the classroom ) I will say that lots of the people I have met the last few weekends have been extremely personable. Its always nice to fish around people that are sociable and have an understanding of stream etiquette, especially when its crowded. I started tying loops about a year ago with the advice of a friend. I really like to tie the loop using 2 or 3 strands of flash. I think it gives it a really "buggy" look, especially when fishing shallow water with lots of sunshine.
  8. I am new to this forum as a member, but I have been reading posts pretty regularly for awhile, and have found it pretty helpful (especially the discussions and reports). So I am more than happy to "pay it forward" with one of mine. Fished from about 1:30 to 4:30 in the quick seam of water in between the first and second outlets. With not many people fishing the area, went to the south bank and immediately hooked up with a 22" rainbow. Stayed there the rest of my day with fish every 2 to 3 drifts. Used a dropper rig, half of a palsa ind., with a #22 wet midge pattern as the lead, and a #24 black loop emerger as the trailer. Caught probably 70% on the emerger. Ended up with approx. 25 fish, with 10-12 being in the 20" range. No big browns, as expected, but lots of fun, and a beautiful day to be out there. Phil, thanks for an informative and helpful website, tight lines to everyone.
