Didn't need a camera last night for sure. I think the one I had on was thinking about killing itself and changed its mind when I got it to the bank. I'm going back until I catch a good catfish
woodman that would be fun for sure. I have a hard time walking and fishing from a canvas chair is all I can do. That fish I had last night would have taken you for a heck of a ride. I'm on the way to wally world to get some stronger line and back I go.
I went to the campground this evening and rigged a rod with Secret 7 stick bait and threw it out and had a seat in my canvas chair and about 10 minutes later I almost lost my rod. I was using a 6 and half foot spinning rod and reel had new 12 lb line. The fish went where ever it wanted for at least 10 minutes and I had a young man come over to help me. The catfish finally rolled over and got it to the bank and it was a few feet to the water edge the young man climbed down and as soon as he grabbed the line the fish took off and broke the line. The young man said he had never seen a fish that large and thought it was 15 to 20 lbs. I know fisherman do lie but my wife was there and said she would not have believed it if she hadn't seen it herself. I am going back tomorrow with one of my old bass rods with 25 lb test line and try again. I'm 76 and that was FUN FUN.
Bo I'm glad you have such a great jig. I'm Tommy Davis who we have had several good fishing trips together on the rock. You were working on a better jig many years ago.
A friend who fishes with jigs only for trout went yesterday and was amazed how many he caught and released. In some areas he caught one every cast. I guess more were released than I thought.
I got to Roaring River about 10 am and can't give you a fishing report but the swimming was fine. I fell in about 10 minutes after getting there and its really hard to stand up on the moss covered rocks.
I got to Hickory Creek about noon and one man was leaving with a very large trout. I would guess between 4 and 5 lbs. I fished for a little while and caught and released several with two brown trout included.
I gave a grandson all my bass fishing tackle and there was quite a few wiggle warts that are over 25 years old. I told him that there was a market for them and he is checking the boxes out to see how many and what colors and would be glad to sell them at a reasonable price.
I have a question and hope some one has a answer. Rod and reel fishing for catfish can you have two hooks on one line? I have looked at the Oklahoma regs and don't see anything about it. I would like two circle hooks on the line but don't want to break the law.
9 lb 2 oz LM, 4 lb 8 oz Ken both within site of Big M and best tour stringer for boat 2 men was 64 lbs in the back of Cow Creek when the lake was up 10 ft. This was in the late 80's. I have caught 4 eight lb bass in Big M cove.
While bass fishing on TR I have had people cut in between me and the bank. One time I lifted my rod and the line caught in their lower unit while I hit the free spool. They made it probably 100 yds and there they were with line wrapped around the shaft. I didn't offer to help them.
