  1. Great place to bank fish Big Creek is just below Protem. They've been slaughtering the whites there for a couple of weeks now. Take 125 s. from Protem ,bout 5 miles, then E. on Clarkson RD,then 2 miles or so to(turn left on) Pine Hollow rd. Go 1/4 mile to (turn left on) Old Hat rd til it dead ends at Big Creek (bout 2 miles) Huge area there to bank fish.
  2. I have not much experience bass fishing TC ( I hope to if I ever get my boat fixed) but from what I hear coves, docks and bluffs are your best bet throwing worms and jigs. Let us know how you do.
  3. I hear that San Franciso rig is good for fishing bottoms, too.
  4. Thanks Daryk. I stopped by the dock this AM for about an hour and watched Wayne catch his limit, all on orange eggs. So, for now at least, orange seems to be the ticket.
  5. Ate the last of my trout for breakfist this morning so headed down to the dock to replenish my larder. Got there around 9am, a bit breezy but not to bad. Darryl, the maintenance guy at the resort, has built a windbreak so that if need to you can get out of the wind which was a good thing because around 1030 or so wind conditions became butal with whitecaps about a foot high.Needless to say I didn't see any boats on the lake today. I'm going to suggest to Darryl that a good idea for his next project would be to install a couple of heat lamps in his windbreak. 8>) The fishing started out pretty slow, but with the p/u of the wind, the fishing picked up too. Caught a 11 or so incher and then a 14" that put up quite a fight. After a bit I noticed that my line had come in quite a ways on one pole so I decided to reel in and recast. Found a 6"er on my hook. Cut the line and sent him back. A little while later caught another one about the same size. This one too was hooked pretty deep so cut line and sent him back. I sure hope the little guys make it. One thing for sure, if I would have put them on my stringer they wouldn't have had a snowballs chance in Hades of making it. Next I caught a 15.5 incher, quite the fighter he was. too. After I caught my 3rd trout I grabbed my baitcast rig and put a 3" slider on (white with a chartrouse tail) just in case O'l Grandad was lurking around out there. While retrieving I will cup my hand around the reel and stick my index finger under the line so I can feel the lure. On a couple of casts I could feel my lure bump something, figuring it was trash of some sort I didn't think much of it. Then after one cast that the bumping was more noticeable, I looked down at my lure and saw a trout about 10" following my bait. I guess what he was doing was biting the tail of my slider. I had a pretty big hook on the jighead so he probably couldn't get his mouth around it. I think maybe next time I will cut a couple of rings off the head and see if something like the 15.5 incher can get his mouth around the hook. I finsihed off with another 11"er. Caught all but the big one on marshmellow with an orange egg. The big one ate a white-yellow-green three egg combo. On the way home checked out Empire park. Four fishing off the dock and one gal sunbathing. Man, she must of needed a tan real bad. Probably got wind burn more than anything. I know I sure did. No trailers at the ramp and no one fishing the Tanycomo side of the dam. See Ya Jim
  6. What perchjerker said. What Brian Wise said. What jigggg11 said. what......) how-to video much appreciated by this greenhorn. jim
  7. Rented a boat slip there about a month ago. While my boat is in dry dock being worked on, waiting on parts etc. I fish off their dock. Got there about daybreak. It was cold and wet but caught 3 bows throwing a little cleo between rainshowers the rest of the morning I spent organizing tackle box, getting a couple of rods ready for use, untangling line etc... Darrel, the maintenance guy at the resort, stopped by to say hello and talk fishing. Nice fella. I broke for lunch around 11, went to see Joe at the tackle shop, dropped 50 bucks on lures (he is having a sale on some out of season stuff). Got back to the dock around 1pm. The first 3 casts with the little cleo produced bows and caught a fourth with my 6th cast then it began to slow down. After a bit, Frank showed up and began schooling me on how to catch fish. He was catching five to every one that I caught. AND WE WERE USING THE SAME LURE!!! SAME COLOR, TOO!!! I'm begining to think fishing is like playing poker. It's not the cards that you are delt, but how you play them, or how you present the lure to the fish. Anyway, we spent a couple of hours fishing and had a good time. He gave me a few fishing tips, too. They were much appreciated. Oh, I almost forgot to mention, I caught my first brown! That was exciting, he acctually ripped some drag off my reel. He was 14 inches. I don't know, would it be to corney to have a replica made of him to put on my desk? I got a nice place on the wall for the replica of his Grandad if I ever catch him. Well I must of caught a dozen or so trout today (all but one released, including Mr. Browne) had a great time. met some nice people. Well, I need to get to work untangling my line. Hope to see you out on the lake. Jim
