  1. I would fish the channel swing banks with a jig in Powerline Cove and also try the jerkbaits in the same cove on secondary points. I'm sure the river is still a mess so I wouldn't go any farther than the timber if you head up the Son's. When I was there last Saturday (Roark) I actually caught 5 or 6 smaller bass on the launch ramp dragging a jig down the launch lanes. Good Luck!
  2. David, you should have a red message notice at the top of this page, click on it and you will find my phone number. Todd
  3. The weatherman said, "High of 71-S.E.winds of 13".....It was 44 and raining when we hit the ramp, N.E.winds 15+ all day, and the high made it to 48. So much for fishing the 3rd day of a warm front. Got on the water out of Roark Bluff about 8:00 and fished from Sons Creek to the Mutton Creek area. It was another "Pick a Bait" day with bass being caught on jigs, jerks, warts, square-bills, and one on a spinner bait. Water was 49 to 52 everywhere we ran on the lake. The water in Son's Creek, starting where the timber starts, is very stained to muddy. We only caught 2 bass in Son's and spent 3 hours up there. We also tried the floating worm but could not get any takers. Bass were caught off of boat ramps, seconday points in 15' of water, backs of coves on the last channel-swing bank, and wart fish on gravel banks. All in all we caught roughly 16 bass with only 3 keepers. Late in the afternoon we fished a brush pile in 25' over by Mutton and ended up catching about a dozen crappie, 6 of them were very nice slabs from 12 to almost 14 inches. With cold temps and possible snow back in the forcast it looks like ti's still going to be 2 or more weeks for everything to bust loose........weather pending, again! Tight lines all.
  4. If nothing has changed they will do the weigh-in at the ramp.
  5. David, Click on my "name" (btlifes2short) and then click on "Send me a message" and it will show in my message box at the top of the page after you hit send. Make sense?
  6. Afternoon David, went out yesterday for 10 hours bass fishing. I will post a report later on today. If you want to chat in more detail message me with your phone, always happy to help out a fellow BFL'er.........I fished the BFL with you 2001-2005. I would also fish as a co-angler if a boater is looking for one??
  7. Morning All, Spent 4 hours around State Park and then pulled the boat out and put her back in at Mutton Crrek for some afternoon fishing. Water around State Park was 44 to 47 and around the Mutton area I found up to 52 degrees in the back of coves. Beautiful clear day wtih little wind in the AM and pretty breezy from the south in the afternoon. It was a real Heinz 57 type of day. Caught the bass in both areas on Warts, blades, jigs, jerks, finess, and a-rigs. Found fish on deep main lake points, 3/4 of the way back into coves on channel-swing banks, and clear in the back of a cove on timber. You would have thought I would have caught a ton of fish over 10 hours but I think I only had about 15 with 5 that would have kept for roughly 10 pounds. Did I figure out the pattern, hell no, must me that time of year. Going to head back up Tuesday if I can get the work schedule figured out, any one want to pitch in for some fuel and go with? Todd
  8. Temps are a moving target. I use a hand held infrared temp gun that I know is accurate. I had 52 degree water last Saturday in the back of a creek. I can tell you it was very muddy and full of debris but there was plenty of shad and shad eaters there. Even had carp jumping and getting ready to spawn. Won't after today I'll bet that water is pushing 60. Get ready!
  9. Put in at Mutton Creek around noon today, just in time for the rain & wind to stop. Water temp at the ramp was 44 and the lake was pretty much glass for the rest of the day. Ran back into Mutton Creek and caught 3 blacks and one smallie, one being a small keeper. These bass were caught on a shakey head with a brown critter craw with red pinchers. Ran across the lake and fished some main lake points with no luck. Ran back into a creek and caught 3 more blacks on a Wiggle Wart, one huge crappie on a small chartruse crankbait, and a keeper black on a crappie jig. Needless to say I found no consistent pattern. I did find some dirty water that was 53 degrees. Hoppy Easter to everyone! Todd
  10. Great story Zarraspook, you should write for a living......if you don't already! Very funny stuff!!
  11. Looks like Stockton kicked those boys butts, and those guys are great fishermen! Wonder how today's weather conditions will treat them? http://central-proam.com/
  12. You can bet on it. iwas up there last weekend and it was already pretty stained.....and that was before the rain. Good Luck!
  13. Went out of State Park about 8:30 and fished until 4:30. Water temps 39 to 42, wind out of the SE 10 to 15. The only thing we could get bit on was natural colored jerkbaits all on the main lake. Ended up catching 8 bass, one muskie, and a very nice walleye that tasted really good! Best 5 would have gone 14 to 15 pounds. Talked with a number of guys who were not doing very well. Just a few more weeks! Todd
  14. 3/6 fished out of State Park, water temp 40 to 42, NE wind 5 to 10. First bank we pulled up on (main lake chunck rock) we caught 2 on the Wart and one on the stickbait. Went to a main lake channel swing bank and caught one a-rig and one stickbait fish. After that the fishing turned off and we only put 3 more keepers in the boat the rest of the day. Ended up having a small limit out of the 8 fish we caught. 3/7 fished out of Roark Bluff, water temp 39 to 43, SE wind 10 to 15. Spent most of the day up river, 7 fish on one point with white jerkbaits and chartruse/purple jerkbaits. Ran up into the timber a little bit and found a bluff bank that held some pretty nice brown/green jig fish. Also headed way on up the river but couldn't get bit. Best 5 would have gone 13+? Won't be long now, sure would like to be up there today fishing in the rain, I'll bet their really turned on. Tight Lines, Todd
  15. I say it was the Honey Bunches of Oats that gave them such good luck! Nice job all!
  16. That's a great photo! Again, how do i find Techo? Is there a link for the Aunts Creek Moderator? or are you pulling my leg?
  17. OK abkeenan, who is Techo? Thanks Harry J for the info about Pete!
  18. Is there a place on the web where you can find current lake temps for T.R. Coming down next week to fish for a few days and was just wondering the lake temps, we'll be around the Aunts Creek area. Thanks in advance, Todd
  19. I did it, I finally purchased an Alabama Rig and fished it and fished it and fished it! Put on the water at State Park about 7:30 and fished until 4:30. Water temps are still very cold, 39 to 40 on main lake. S.W. breeze 10 to 15, bluebird skies. Out of the 9 hours I was on the water I chucked the A-Rig for 8 of those hours and man do I have a sore sholder this morning. I must be crazy because I averaged 1 fish for every 2 hours I chucked that A-Rig. I ended up having 2 nice ones come unbuttoned at the boat, caught 3 keepers in the 2 to 4 pound range, and 1-14 inch one. I'm not sure if I'm sold on the A-Rig or not, it does catch quality fish but man what a grind on your body! I'm sure I will give it another try, it should get better as the water warms up some. I caught the fish on deep main lake points with wind on them.....go figure. Spring Break is next week and man I hope it warms up some, however the 7 day forecast looks horrible. Tight Lines All, Todd
  20. Yes it is 9LB.
  21. 9LB, no we fished around the Old State Park area. It was really weird that the fish shut off for us too after 10:00. What were you fishing for?
  22. Maybe I should start off with lack of bass report. Put in @ Old State Park about 9:00 and had 2 keepers and a couple of shorts in the boat by 10:15, we thought this was going to be a kick-butt day. After those fish were caught we went 5 hours with out another bite. Ended up catching a total of 8 bass on jigs, finess works, and jerkbatis. Water temps stayed right around 40 all day, fishing was slow for us but great weather for February! We did listen to the tourney results at Old State Park and it took over 18lbs to win, 3rd place had 15lbs, and 7+ pounds was big fish. Somebody always figures them out. Todd
  23. Looks like I will try and head out on Sunday, if the weather forecast holds. 9lb, if you see a black Champion with a Merc on the back stop over and say hi, if I see your Tracker I'll do the same. Good Luck!
  24. I would stay on the main lake, pending on the wind direction I would launch at State Park or at Old State Park. From there I would fish main lake points that have deeper water on them. Slow moving jerkbaits, test a variety of colors, and small finess jigs fishec slowly in some type of green color should be the ticket. If you have wind blowing onto a point don't hesitate to pitch that jerkbait right into the waves & froth. It's going to be a cold week so don't move your baits too fast, the bass will just watch your bait go by................. Good luck, keep us posted on your success!
