  1. Amen Duckydoty!! I could watch him also! Sight fishing!!! Hard to do right and very rewarding if done right!!! Love it!!!
  2. I think we should call them "Bonds Brown Trout" and "Barry Rainbow Trout"!!! They will still make the record books but no one will like them!!!! I'm suprised that the heads of these fish aren't bigger!!! HA!!!!!!
  3. Nice catch!!! I would have loved to see you fight that one!!! Don't let the grumpy old farts get to you!! You caught a very nice fish and you know you did it right!! That's all that matters!!! Congrats!!!
  4. Congratulations Michael!!!! Nice to see a great local get noticed!!!!
  5. I like the way you take your own pictures also!!! Clear and very sharp!!! Nice fish also!!
  6. I'm wanting to plan a trip out to the Dream Stream and the other great streams in Colorado this fall. I'm looking for the fly patterns for the fall fishing. Can anyone give me a list of what I should take?? Thank you all!!!
  7. Hey Tim, How's the river after the rain??? Thanks!!!
  8. I got to go down this morning before work. The river is very clear and there are a good number of fish in the river down in the fly area. They have a little size to them also. The upper end was full of people and the campgrounds looked to be full also. The fly area didn't have hardly anyone there. It was strange to walk up and fish about anywhere I wanted. After about an hour they started to come in. Still was a light crowd down below. I could only get them to bite on the Shamie Sanjuan worm. They would look at the small woolie's but wouldn't take them. I still had a great morning fishing!!!
  9. Thanks DLM84 for serving but if you don't have something nice to say stay off the OAF. I don't take kindly to someone calling me a liar. You weren't a part of this transaction stay out of it. I'm looking for the pictures that they sent me. It probley wouldn't be a place to plan a fishing adventure any time soon.
  10. I had a great experiance late last summer. I got an email from a couple guys in Afghanistan. They were contracters that were overthere working. They said that back in the mid 70's that they had stocked a lot of the streams with trout and they wanted to give it a shot! They requested everything including flys!! I didn't have a clue what to send them for flys. We got everything worked out except the flys. I had him go to BassPro web site and pick something out. I got everything together and got it shipped on a Thursday afternoon. On Monday I got a email and before I read it thought: He's already looking for them!!! Not the case. They had already made it!!!!! It took THREE DAYS to get there!!! Think about it!!! From Mt Vernon Missouri to Afghanistan in three days!!! I've find a picture and attach it later and they are going to send more. It's NOT Roaring River but it's really Roaring!!!!!!!
  11. I've been pondering the idea of starting to build custom glass rods for a while. The more I think about it the more I hear about the popularity of them. I've done some rewraps on a few and really enjoyed the feel. I still have the one I got when I was 10years old. I've got two questions. Is there a good interest in them?? (Dano I know your thoughts but would like to hear them again) Which rods are most popular??? Thank you! We have a great diverse bunch on the forum and I enjoy everyones thoughts!!!
  12. Osuangler is right. Don't get me wrong. I'm not going to stop trusting people and beleaving in good people down at the river. I'll take my girls there 99% of the time and have a blast. I have taught them how to act and to have respect. God has blessed us with so much good.
  13. I guess having fished at Roaring River for 40+ years it really hurts to hear about someone stealing. Steve and Dano and a lot of others remember little kids running around the park without parents and not having to keep a look out for someone that might grab them. I was one of those kids!!! It's a total lack of respect!! You don't hear "Yes Sir" or "Yes Mam" anymore! Some of the old ways are the best way!
  14. Just wanted to post a couple pictures of my girls from the great day we had last Friday. They landed about 15 fish in a couple hours. Little wet. Lot's of fun!!
  15. I got to go down Friday morning with my three girls. There were quite a few fishing. The upper end was way to full to take my 7, 9, and 11 year olds there. We went down to the fly area. Much smaller crowd. We found a out of the way spot and started. They did pretty good as long as dad was letting them land fish. Then the hands started getting tired and the minds wandered and it was time to head up to the swimming area to let them play in the water. There are some fish in some of the swimming holes. Got a little wet with the showers that were popping up. The girls ended up landing about 15 fish in a couple hours. The Killer Worm did the trick again. Great day with my girls!!!
  16. I hope your boys know how great a dad they have!!!! My dad started me on trout fishing 43years ago! Priceless!!!
  17. Here's a web address of the pictures if anyone would like to see them. FUN TIME!!! http://picasaweb.google.com/RDPflyrods/Colorado2009
  18. Flyguy, Sorry about Gpa!! He went the way would all want to, happy with life!!
  19. Thanks guys for the promo!!
  20. Leonard, I'm going to be down tonight thur Thursday afternoon. Have you found a time frame that they seemed more active in bites?? I'll be in a Burgandy Chevy van. The family type van with gold around the bottom part.
  21. I got a great chance the first week in June to go hiking with a group of guys from Columbia Missouri. We went to the Lost Creek Wilderness area between Denver and Colorado Springs and a little west. What a beautiful place! It wasn't a very long hike but sure made the lungs hurt for a while. The first day and a half it rained and if you sleep with a C-pap machine you know it's tough to sleep without it let alone in the cold rain! Every morning I woke up with ice on my tent. There were eight of us and you couldn't ask for a better bunch of guys to get out and enjoy God's works with. I'd go with them again in a heart beat!!! We did get to do some Brook trout fishing. The little Brookies were hard to find sometimes but we did manage to catch a few. They are one of the brightest most colorful fish around. We spent three nights in the mountains and loved every minute of it.
  22. Thanks RRV!! I wish the eagles and hawks had a taste for them!!!
  23. Esox, The guide change should not affect the rod performance. On the tip. Most companies use the heated glue for the tips. Heating it up a little with a lighter should make it easy to replace. I want to stress the little part. Don't torch it or you will hurt the graphite.
  24. Our loss will be their gain!! If your not dreaming and doing your not living!! Good luck Michael!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Laker is right. That size fish will have very little chance of living even with a short fight. If I catch a 15lb fish it will be very hard to turn it loose! I'm like laker as in fish for the big ones! I'm more impressed with someone catching one fish 10lbs than someone catching 60 bullets. It's personal preference on keeping fish. That's what America is all about. Free to chose, for now.
