  1. What did he attach the paracord to? I looked at my cab while I was at lunch and there didn't seem to be much to tie too
  2. Question for ya - I drive a Grand Cherokee and to compensate for my 9' 8# I have to lay the seats down, and even then it is still getting into my dash. So are putting a 9' up there and is it gettin into your windshield a lot? I also realize the 4Runner and my Jeep are probably differing in cab sizes.
  3. Great post. I personally went out today to a local small reservoir and I was nailing Largemouth Bass and panfish, and I know for a fact there are also some big cats and white bass and carp in that body of water, so it always keeps it exciting. I always enjoy going there because I always catch fish, and while it isn't usually huge fish or giant numbers, it is enough to keep me entertained while knowing I could pull in a 5lb LMB or a 20lb cat or tiny Bluegill. It's a small enough body of water that I can slowly work my way around it during the day, but big enough where I do actually have to try certain tactics/lures before I can find one that fits in that groove. And I can also use my fly rod, light spinning tackle or even some heavy stuff if I want so it gives me a lot of options. So for me, that place provides me with quality fishing. On the other hand, right after leaving there I went out with some friends on a nearby lake...and caught absolutely nothing. Barely any bites. That to me is boring never fun fishing, especially when you leave a location where you are already catching fish!
  4. Yeah, any kind of boat is prohibited as well, which sucks because a little personal pontoon or kayak or something would be so effective there. Yeah, it is tight in some places. I do use my fly rod but I either am passing parallel to the bank or I am finding a creative way to get my fly out there. There is one side where it is wide open and you can just false cast all you want. For traditional equipment it is a great place to fish.
  5. In order by importance... 1. Topwater anything, especially the Spit'n Image and the Spro Hollowbody Frogs 2. Spinnerbait, chartreuse white, all sizes! 3. Texas rigged black or pumpkinseed colored worm 4. White grub on a jig head, or a white roadrunner jig head, usually on an ultralight set up 5. Tie between a very shallow running crankbait, and any form of swim bait (since there are so many options out now) For a fly rod, small to medium poppers, crawdad imitations if there are areas of fewer weeds, and of course the wooly bugger. One thing that I can always get catching fish and which I always use if I take someone who isn't into fishing as much as me, is the Gulp Fish Fry grubs on a jig head. If there are fish around, you are certain to catch them.
  6. I went out there twice this weekend and did very well with the panfish and some tiny bass. Let me know how you do/did!! I also saw two very large crappie pulled out this weekend, the lake seems to hold a vast variety of good sized fish.
  7. It may not actually be the "collinsville reservoir" but that is what I have always called it. I know it used to have water piped in from Oolagah lake or something, and there used to be a water treatment plant next to it. I noticed a couple visits back that they pipes were gone and that the old treatment plant was gone, but I had just assumed a new one was built. It is north of 146th St. and about a mile east of 169. It is back a ways in the trees so you have to know it's there to find it. Nice, what church? My dad used to be the youth pastor at the Nazarene church in Collinsville about 9 years ago, so I am familiar with Collinsville. Nice! I haven't fished there in years, last time I did I am pretty sure Home Depot and all those businesses weren't there! Yeah, seems just a bit early for bass still.
  8. No, don't get my wrong, I don't bother the bass sitting on a nest, but stlfisher is right, not all bass spawn at the exact same time, but the lures used during the spawn time, this general time of year, always stump me. So I was looking to see what everyone thought.
  9. Where did you get the shrink wrap stuff?
  10. DaddyO, Nice! We will have to meet up some time! I went out this morning to the Collinsville reservoir, if you know where that is, and I caught a ton of panfish on tiny poppers. Always a blast.
  11. Hm, not quite the answer I was looking for.
  12. My name is Nick Williams. I live in Owasso, OK and I do primarily bass fishing, but I will pretty much give any kind of fishing a try, though bass is still my favorite. I have recently gotten into fly fishing and fly tying, especially in the winter it helps me get my fishing fix. Just thought it would be cool to join the forum to learn about fishing areas around me and meet some fellow fisherman!
  13. What's your favorite lure/bait for spawning bass? Or for the fly fisherman on here, what fly?? I always have trouble during the spawn season!
